But with the demise of dialup lines more and more everywhere,  
and the scarcity of modems, I doubt that most people would even  
be aware of the option.

I know at least one person who uses dialup to access internet  
stuff. It's only $8/mo for them.  Nobody can seem to reach them  
over the phone since the line is in use on internet most of the  
day.  But I think they just stick to Facbook or something and  
are unaware of BBSes availble through the inernational  
switching that you provide or by telnet.
