It is growing like crazy and it seems the town has turned more purple. However, as soon as you get out of Johnson City and the liberal sphere of influence (read: ETSU), it turns solidly red.  That's the case with all of Tennessee.  I believe only Chattanooga, Nashville, and Memphis are considered "big liberal cities".  Johnson City is just full of self-important fart sniffers and pseudointellectuals.  I'll pause my commentary in this echo but if you ask me, I'll talk more about it in MIN_DEBATE.

If it gets worse, I'll move to Middle Tennessee.  Sure, I'll have to deal with tornadoes but after living in Texas and Oklahoma, I ain't 'fraid of no storm. LOL  There's no work in Middle Tennessee but living on Social Security, that's not an issue for me ... nor would it be one if I was still working since I can work from home.

Fun fact: Johnson City is known as the "San Francisco of the East" since it supposedly has the highest LBTQA population per capita in the US besides San Francisco.  It's also known as "Little Chicago" but for a different reason altogether: Al Capone used to hang out here.
