There seems to be a variety of different retirement homes.  
There are those that provide small apartments. There are the  
kind that have small bungalow type homes in a kind of mini- 
village setting and nursing staff available on call. There are  
the kind that provide individual bedrooms (like an old hospital  
converted) with cafeteria, games rooms, etc.. and nursing staff  
24/7.   I am sure there are other variations.
