A/C is nearly a requirement here and I also have a dehumidifier since it's so
damn humid here during the summer.  During the winter, it's so dry that I
have a humidifier too.  I try to be prepared.

As for A/C causing disease, if you keep the filter(s) clean, you'll be fine.
