Running the AGA core for Amiga 1200.  it is pretty stabile so far.  I did try
the Amiberry load as well which is based on the DietPi distribution.  It took
a bit more to setup and it did not seem to run near as fast as the Amibian.
If you have a Pi3 then I would say go for it.  

I also did not have the luxury of having an Amiga although I would have liked
to have one.  I think i wanted them all, Ti, Atari, Amiga...  I was lucky
enough to have a fully expanded TI system (which I still have today and it
still runs!)

My first real experience with anything Amiga based, was just about 2 years
ago when I purchased a MiST FPGA.  It is a very slick machine.  I have it
hooked up to one of my Pi3's which host a tcpser so it can be used to dial
out and connect to telnet based BBS'.
