Subj : Alien organisms found in red rain? To : All From : warmfuzzy Date : Sun Dec 24 2017 00:10:25 Something very strange has happened on planet Earth. Here in Southern India many villagers are the focus of a possible alien invasion. It starts with rain---red rain. The local people were horrified. In some places it was very intense. It was red as blood. The people were so scared they threw it away. According to Hindu religion it is an era of destruction: Kaliuthen. And these are the signs: there will be chaos and it will rain fire. "I thought it was the end of the world. Ever since I was an early child I was told that the world would end in the year 2000. And when the rain came I thought it was the end of the world and i was very scared." The world didn't end in fact. But the red rain continued for two long months. Working in an area was a physicist; he didn't know it at the time but his life was about to change forever. His name is Dr. Godfrew Lewis. "I have heard about the news reports and as the days went by it became more and more mysterious. What it is through no one could give me a clear answer. From that moment I was interested in that." The first explanation for the red rain was pretty dumb. Government officials claimed that it was red dust that had blown in from Arabia. Godfrey didn't buy this. He was convinced that there was something special with the red rain. He traveled around villages collecting samples, and under an electron microscope he saw that the particles were not dust at all---they were alive. Its pretty exciting to see this. They look like red blood cells but they're not because they have a very thick cell walls. But what was this mysterious life form. There was only one way to find out---take a look at the DNA. The results came back: there was no DNA. It was life, but not as we know it. Many scientists now believe that if life did emerge millions of years ago, before Mars froze, craters once filled with water are the best place to look, and there's one which stands out. 30 years ago NASA published pictures of a strange formation of white rock, at the bottom of a crater 90 kilometers across. I just clocked the fact that it had been published and I thought it was a very interesting paper but I was just not interested in Mars at the time. It just made us think in a particular way. During a trip to central Turkey, Mike Russel took a look at a lake that made him think again of the white rocks on Mars. Near the Southern Shore Mike spotted strange white islands and decided to investigate further. Belize had particular structures and there are only a few decades old and the lake was dropped level in the last 30 or 40 years or so. Its really exciting to come back here. I first came out here, I swam out here in 1992 and I couldn't believe my eyes, because we were led to believe these were sand dunes. Mike Russel discovered these islands were actually far more extraordinary---these rocks were built by microscopic organisms. Photosynthetic bacteria---the most primitive creature on Earth--the exact kind of bacteria you might expect to find on Mars. From then on we started to think well could there have been life on Mars in these crators and could it be that some of these white rocks could have been formed by a bacteria. This lake showed that bacteria can build huge rock formations. And as it happened, these white rocks were made of Magnesium Carbonate, which [Mars] has Magnesium rich soil. So could this mysterious white formation be a sign that life evolved in this crator long ago? -BBC Worldwide (British Broadcasting Corporation) Published September 26th, 2008 --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A35 (Linux/64) * Origin: PHATstar RetroBOX!
