We have known for most of human existence that we are not alone.

Depending on your faith you will have heard stories of otherworldly beings under various names.

Most tell of God(s), nearly-gods, not like-us peers, other dimension beings, nasties of various sources and dark anti-god(s).

We embrace some of these are important to us, perceived directly/indirectly.  Then others we relegate to the dark corners of our stories, legends or minds.
