Subj : Misunderstanding To : All From : warmfuzzy Date : Tue Oct 30 2018 19:48:30 I had a dream a few nights ago about a fight, a brawl, where some people got killed and shortly after a mothership came and decimated the Earth in great wrath. What those bar-goers didn't know is that they had killed a member of another species (an alien in incognito). The foreigners didn't understand the concepts of violence representing individuals rather than entire races. They supposed that it was an act of war against them when in reality is was an assault resulting in death from a bad-scene sort of group of people. From the alien perspective it was reckless violence against an innocent and that in our culture the acts of individuals do not represent the acts of species or countries. So when you think of doing something stupid, consider how it might be perceived by a foreign power who doesn't get our peculiarities. Even if its not aliens you're dealing with, there are cultures here on Earth that would take violence against an individual as an act of violence against the group that that individual is part of. That just because you are part of something doesn't mean you represent it. But that even though you think that you don't represent, in the eyes of another you may indeed represent.
