It is basically asking for getting Cu> guests... Not sure if you remember Futurama when the planet was watching 1000 old TV from earth when their favorite show got cut off. Ended up making a trip to earth to see how the show ended. That was a funny way to look at it...the truth is in the past 100 or so years that radio waves have been used...according to solstation.com...at least 76 stars are within this distance. To make this mean something to give us something to judge the distance...Betelgeuse is 642.5 light years away with Rigel 864.3 light years away...Sirius being 8.611 light years and Aldebaran being 65.23 years away. Alpha Centauri is 4.367 light years...Alpha Centauri A being 4.364 light years with Proxima Centauri B being 4.24 light years away. With current tech...it would take 32K years to reach Proxima or with a Federation starship roughly a 9 hour round trip. In terms of having a usable signal to view...that's another issue. Our use of radio is meant for use here on Earth to understand what is being sent out. To make a signal usable by another system...many big FM radio stations are 100,000 Watts and designed for line-of-sight use. AM signals use another method to get out there. Not understanding math...what would be the wattage of said signal to reach the Centauri systems and be usable. Scientists don't seem to be too worried about it...unless said society didn't have to worry about the issue of signal degridation. Said society may be able to have a weapon to be usable from light year distance. If true...that's something to be changing your underwear about. --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A47 2020/09/12 (Windows/32) * Origin: ACME BBS-0118 999 881 999 119 725 3 (700:100/70) .
