 We need a generation of independent, skeptical journalists. My daughter
 did a stint doing investigative reporting in middle school, and it
 inspired her. I hope she follows through with it.

 She did a report on their school's dress code. She approached it
 initially being against the code, but I reminded her that her job as a
 journalist was to report both sides, let the reader see both sides of
 the argument and make up their own mind. She couldn't convince either
 side, but maybe enlighten them to a perspective they didn't see before.

 She really enjoyed the exercise, even interviewed the principal to get
 her take on it. Got an A, too.
