The art of letting a subject volunteer more information than might have been expected without the elicitation expert's coaching is impressive to observe.

These speciallists lead a subject into basically self-interrogation with the result that they subject lays out the whole story of their own volition.

If the subject is well trained this may be counterproductive, as they blow smoke at the interrogators.  

But lacking that specialist counter measure training, an elicited subject is said to feel like they have experienced a good confession.  Perhaps a sort of relief?

It is a skill that is well worth your study and practice.  As are the countermeasures.
