I once had an old rusty Ford. He is was be rusty as American foreign policy and even worse. I simply bought chains for the rear wheels for him. And he drove calmly on ice, snow and shallow snowdrifts. There is no need to store water. For what? There is a lot of snow around you. You can use it like water. Just boil it. Wood gas-based electricity generators are popular among American forest dwellers. It is very expensive, but much more efficient than electric panels. But in general the situation is pleasant. You can go skiing and play in the snow.
