We should be putting our families and ourselves first in the list of priorities.
"Food, Water, Shelter, Clothing, Medicine, Means of Self Defense, and a Plan"
is the framework that I use when preparing myself and maintaining my part of
the homestead.

What can we get away with ignoring? We can start with the luxuries,
since they don't really serve any purpose other than to make us "feel good". 
We can survive without Starbucks.
