Subj : Feature Phones To : All From : poindexter FORTRAN Date : Sun May 29 2022 08:18:00 I'm looking for a phone for my daughter to take to camp, ostensibly just to call home and occasionally text. Don't want any social networks on it. Although I could take an old iPhone and lock it down through the app store, I picked up a Nokia 6300 4g on a lark. It's a modern take on an old-school feature phone, with a couple of social network apps (Facebook and whatsapp). It does have Google Maps and Google text-to-speech, so you don't need to rely on predictive text input if you have a network available. Talk time is around 7 hours, although I wished it had an MP3 player, as it has an SD card slot. It does have an FM receiver, and a couple of the AM news stations now have a mirror on FM frequencies now. I'm thinking it'd be great for SHTF situations where you were displaced but services were still available - with a USB battery pack, you could stay in contact for weeks. ....
