Subj : Odd days at the Lab To : All From : poindexter FORTRAN Date : Mon Aug 25 2025 12:14:10 I woke up to find my Proxmox server unresponsive. Saw a series of read errors on /dev/sda. I power-cycled the box, and the web interface came up - but there was no information for the VMs. I saw this message in the error window: TASK ERROR: activating LV 'pve/data' failed: Check of pool pve/data failed (status:64). Manual repair required! I looked at the LVM, everything looked OK. Googled a bit, ran lvconvert --repair pve/data And my VMs appeared normally in the GUI. SMART stats look OK, no reallocated sectors. It's getting a little long in the tooth, I may use Clonezilla to clone it to another like drive this week. My router (a Synology RT2600AC, nice piece of kit) has been dropping my internet with the message "limited connection" recently, usually at the most inopportune times. I was going to swap it out for a newer one, but decided to wipe it and restore the config. So far, so good. Not sure if I want to stick with Synology, seeing as they want to lock in newer models with Synology-branded drives, but my older models have run with whatever crappy drives I had laying around just fine. I have a couple of Linksys WRT1900ACS routers running OpenWRT that I like to play with, but the Synology, when it's stable, is a lot more polished. It's got a nice DNS server built-in with views for split-horizon DNS, a VPN server and a "threat prevention" firewall that inspects packet headers for possible attacks. --- MultiMail/Win v0.52 * Origin: realitycheckBBS.org -- information is power.
