Subj : Perseverance rover to land on Mars tomorrow! To : All From : Sonya Weasner Date : Thu Feb 18 2021 05:35 pm The Perseverance rover will be landing on Mars tomorrow at 11:15 PST! This is super exciting! Does anyone plan to watch the landing live? One thing I think that is really neat is that there is a helicopter strapped to the belly of the rover. That helicopter, Ingenuity, will attempt the first powered flight on Mars (or any other planet!). Basically the Wright Brothers flight attempt but on the red planet! You can see a cool simulation of that here: https://mars.nasa.gov/technology/helicopter I find these types of missions fascinating and it will be interesting to see if the mission proves fruitful in finding habitability and testing oxygen production.
