It will be a whole before DVD's become obsolete as video hire places have invested a lot of money in buying DVD's for rent. Unless you can get good traffic flow on the internet then renting a video by downloaded it takes time and you might have a limit on how much data you can download. Rented downloads are not likely to be in Blu-Ray quality and some may be in lower quality than DVD to have a smaller file to download. Also 5.1 sound, subtitles and special features could be missing. Maybe oneday your take your media into a movie hire place and they will dump some movies of your choice onto your media for a hire cost.
