After seeing a friends TS-520 I bought a TS-520S. Wonder if TS-520S are sold for that low of a price now a days? The S model had to have a inverter power supply attached to go Mobile with it so I got that for mine. Bought mine some time after the 27 Mc/s Bootleggers were buying up $350.00 USD Yeasu FT-101 XCVRS . Yeasu doubled the price of their 101 this when I got my 520S it cost $700 plus. That 101 had AM Mode to make it popular with the Bootleggers, I had a Heathkit TX-1 Apache for AM. Still do. 'cept no 27 Mc/s Band on the TX-1. Don't need 11Meters. I might had gotten interested in CB but I was 't old enuf when it started IIRC in September 1958. I was 16 years old and would have had to be 18 to get Licenced by the FCC. THREE MONTHS earlier I passed my Novice Exam and got my KN4ZIQ call. Didn't need CB anyway then. 73 (without the s added).
