Google is not the only search engine out there. Independents can  
encourage people to shift to DuckDuckGo, for example.

The Google search engine right now doesn't even find the many  
sources of a particular book when independents use the web/ 
shopping services with http://bookmanager.com  (I'd use it if I  
had the $5K start-up price) It's up to the independent seller to  
market their own site.

I believe you.  But then they would have to influence one of the  
biggest distributors out there: https://www.ingramcontent.com

Amazon and Indigo both obtain stock through them. I know. I've  
had packing lists and invoices included in error in *my* orders.
