------------------------------------------------------------------------ East vs West Coast Object vs KISS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: 2026-05-28 Author: paulr ------------------------------------------------------------------------ East vs West Coast Object vs KISS I have been listening to some videos from the computer archives and have observed that there is very little cross over to LISP and UNIX. During its years of development needed adoption, Unix delivered workable solutions. Next, and Sun LISP machines and later turning into C++ camps of object orientation . I find this strangly worth mentioningretrospecive. I do enjoy a good abstract being a castable generic but the crystal city never gets a finished design, perfection in design is rarely consistent. Unix is patchable and its meant to be understood. To me, thinking in C++ is about setting up perfect orchestrations of abstractions. C is tied to assembly, and paof portability to assembly/bytecode. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Published: Thu May 28 02:31:24 UTC 2026 ------------------------------------------------------------------------
