About sinza I'm sinza. I'm 27 years old and have lived in central Indiana (otherwise known as occupied Myaamia and Kiikaapoi land) for two decades as of July 2025. I've been interested in older computers since my family made the upgrade to Windows XP in 2001. For a family that implemented an external firewall to their dial-up, XP was absolutely an upgrade! I later discovered something called "Linux" and then "BSD" and then due to a freak accident with a crappy hard drive, I became a Unix enjoyer. Here are some facts about me: Favorite OSes: NetBSD, OpenBSD, Unshittified Windows NT, Alpine Linux, Chimera Linux, Void Linux, Classic Mac OS Favorite Editor: neovim Favorite Web Clients: w3m, Tor Browser, Mullvad Browser, Classilla Favorite Feed Reader: tbd Favorite Gopher: w3m, Classilla, TurboGopher Favorite Wayland Compositor: niri Current Setup: Void Linux on my main workstation Pronouns: e/em, it/its, they/them, really any non-gendered pronouns Here are some ways you can reach me: Email: sinza@sdf.org Mastodon: @sinza@bitbang.social Grundo's Cafe: sinza virtu.pet: sinza Twitter (or Xitter, pronounced like where you go number 2): no BlueSky: probably not Discord: not sharing this My stance on the (GNU/)Linux naming controversy: I will call distros by their preferred names. For Debian GNU/Linux, it gets called "Debian GNU/Linux" (or "Debian" for short). For Arch Linux, it gets called "Arch Linux" (or "Arch" for short). For Ubuntu, it gets called "Ubuntu" (or "Ubuntu" for short). I use "Linux" to refer to the whole family of operating systems based on the Linux kernel because I generally dislike pedantry at least partially thanks to an Autistic dislike of being told what to do. Also, Alpine Linux doesn't come with anything GNU by default except for GRUB if you use UEFI on amd64 (or other things maybe?).
