Its not a standard series engine number from any of my lists
numbers.

Rover P4 "80", although that one looks to have been fitted in a
Land Rover (as the P4 oil filler tube curves up to the front of
the engine).

wow! not original at all then....
i intend to restore the series as original as possible

from what i've read the rover 80 engine was ostensibly the same
as land rover 2.25. could only speculate about the fixtures and
fittings though (land rover engine is made to be water proof !)
