Active for over 40 years, he has wrestled in virtually every territory that ever existed, and is somehow still going. But he is extremely limited, and has in essence been having the exact same match with every single opponent he‘s ever faced - whether it was Bruiser Brody, Mil Mascaras, Jumbo Tsuruta, Terry Funk, Dory Funk Jr., Cactus Jack, Sabu, Stan Hansen, Tomoaki Honma, anyone. But it‘s a good match, if you like that sort of thing. ========================================== == SECTION 2: SKILL AND PARAMETER STATS == ========================================== SKILL ----- Ring Name...........Abdullah the Butcher Real Name..............Larry Paul Shreve FPD Name................Abdol the Danger Nickname.......The Madman from the Sudan Promotion......................Freelance* FPD Promotion..................ZIP JAPAN Size..............................Medium Class..............................Heavy Height............................186 cm Weight............................150 kg Country............................Sudan** Birthdate.......................1.1.1936*** Stance.............................Power Offensive Skill.....................Heel Return Skill........................Heel Critical Type...................Finisher Special Skill...........One Hit Finisher Recovery..........................Medium Recovery (when bleeding)............Slow Respiratory........................Below Respiratory (when bleeding)........Above Awareness.........................Medium Awareness (when bleeding).........Strong Neck Strength.......................High Arm Strength........................High Waist Strength....................Medium Foot Strength.....................Medium Movement Speed...............Medium Slow Ascend Speed........................Slow Ascend Skill...............Cannot Ascend *nb: He is no longer working for Big Japan, and has a habit of never staying with promotions for very long. So your overall gameplan should be to go to town with the throat strikes, headbutts, Fork Attacks and Biting, then finish with the Sudanese Meat Cleaver (running Elbowdrop). STRIKES: Abdullah‘s standing punches are surprisingly highly rated, and hence effective. But his lack of stamina and low ranked breathing men he can get gassed out very easily, so it is better not to rely on strikes too much. His lack of foot speed also means that running moves can be easily avoided, so (excepting the Bodypress into the corner) it‘s really not worth wearing Abby out by using them. GRAPPLES: Again, Abdullah lacks stamina, so you‘ll want to use mostly A rated moves. And, as luck would have it, most of them are rated at 10 in both categories! So there really isn‘t much need to go to town with your actual suplexes and takedowns; The only real reason to use them is to get your opponent off his feet to stomp on him. OPPONENT DOWN MOVES: Except for the pinfall attempts, every single one of these is an A rated move, so feel free to use them as much as possible. Just remember to keep breathing at every opportunity. A word about the running elbowdrop finisher - because of Abdullah‘s slower movement speed, it is not advisable that you run and bounce off the ropes to hit this - just back up a few steps instead. It¹s what he does in real life, so why should the game be any different? PLAYING AGAINST ABDULLAH: One look at his defensive stats will tell you that this is a hard guy to beat, because it‘s so hard to get an opening - 10s in Punch, Kick, Lariat and Rough defence, a 9 in Flying and an 8 in Crush! If you tend to start your matches with strikes, reconsider this strategy when facing Abby, because he can walk right through all but the most powerful! His only glaring weaknesses are vs Suplex and Submission moves, so those would be an obvious recommendation. But Submission holds are always broken quickly early in a match (and throughout a match at higher COM levels), and most Suplexes are impossible to hit on a fresh opponent. It will take you a while to hurt him, but once you have hurt him, he can be easy to beat. I would suggest using a lot of whip to the ropes moves - if you have something like a Back Body Drop or other throw off the rebound it‘s more liely to hit than a medium or strong Grapple throw, and all that running will tire him out faster. Don‘t go out of your way to make him bleed though - although his recovery is decreased when he is bloodied, his Awareness and Breathing actually improve. ======================= ==SECTION 6: CLOSING== ======================= Thanks to: * Bill Wood for creating the format for the Character guide FAQs (credit Vipermask, CrazyEST and gBomber as well) * http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Bench/5904/jparchive.htm for biographical/ historical information * SPIKE for releasing Fire Pro D in th first place * GameFAQs and CJayC for hosting this FAQ * Abdullah the Butcher himself, naturally. The scars in his forehead are so deep he can hold coins in them, you know. Seriously. I‘ve seen footage. (C) 2002 AxxB
