Wrestled on the undercard and gradually worked her way up, earning a reputation for toughness in the process - took a Piledriver from the second rope in an early match, which lead to her working the second and third falls of the match with a broken neck. Had an utterly horrific feud with Shinobu Kandori in 1993 - their first match on the AJW Allstar Dram Slam (4/2/93) set a new standard for in-ring (and out of ring) brutality, Hokuto’s forehead gushing blood. Carried a serious shoulder injury into the rematch (of sorts) nine days later at Dream Slam 2 (4/11/93), Hokuto teaming with Aja Kong to face Kandori and Eagle Sawai. Lost by stoppage to Kandori’s armbar and left on a stretcher. Lost the eventual single rematch to Kandori as well. Continued to work despite a catalogue of injuries - was nicknamed Œthe Mummy’ for all the times she wrestled swathed in bandages. In 1994, worked a full schedule with a blown out knee and a broken bone in her back! Married NJPW Superstar Kensuke Sasaki in 1995. Sasaki began using Hokuto¹s Northen Lights Bomb finisher in his matches after this - Hokuto began using Sasaki’s Strangle Hold Gamma in return. ŒRetired’ from AJW after the wedding - it was announced she was retiring, but she continued to work as a freelancer, mostly working for Chigusa Nagayo’s GAEA Japan promotion. Was the first (and only ever) WCW Women’s Champion in 1996. Took time off in 1998 to have her first child, a son named Kennosuke Sasaki. Announced her impending retirement in January 2002 - had her last match ever on April 7th 2002, teaming with Meiko Satomura to defeat Ayako Hamada and Aja Kong. ========================================== == SECTION 2: SKILL AND PARAMETER STATS == ========================================== SKILL ----- Ring Name.........................Akira Hokuto Alternate Ring Name (Mexico)......Reina Jubuki Real Name........................Hisako Sasaki* Nickname...................The Dangerous Queen FPD Name...........¹Violent Queen’ Akira Nanto Promotion..............................retired FPD Promotion......................Joshi Group Size....................................Female Class.....................................Free Height..................................168 cm Weight...................................60 kg Country..................................Japan Birthdate..............................13.7.67 Stance................................Orthodox Offensive Skill.........................Junior Return Skill.........................Luchadore Critical Type.........................Finisher Special Skill.................One Hit Finisher Recovery................................Medium Recovery (when bleeding)................Medium Respiratory..............................Above Respiratory (when bleeding).............Medium Awareness...............................Medium Awareness (when bleeding)...............Medium Neck Strength..............................Low Arm Strength...............................Low Waist Strength.............................Low Foot Strength..............................Low Movement Speed............................Fast Ascend Speed.......................Medium Fast Ascend Skill..............................Jump *Her Maiden name was Hisako Uno, which she used as her ring name in the early days. Her biggest weakness would be her inability to absorb punishment - she has low defensive stats and low bodypart endurance for her entire body (although she is the one Joshi wrestler in the game who is not severely impaired by bloodshed). She compensates for this with her high-impact offense. So the general strategy for Hokuto would be to try and avoid taking too much punishment, win in the grapple and don¹t be afraid to try the high-rish moves. STRIKES: Although Hokuto’s strikes are effective, they are not her best asset - she can do more damage with her grapple moves. Strikes should not be relied upon as a major part of Hokuto’s offense. Her most effective (and most highly rated) moves are the Dropkick (either the standing version or the run-to-corner one) and the run counter Spinkick. Then spinkick in particular is a regular move of the real life Hokuto, and the timing is not as hard as it is for some running moves. The running Clothesline is to be avoided unless you¹re doing a mixed tag with Kensuke Sasaki and are in the middle of a mirror sequence. The Missile Dropkick and Tope Con Hilo are both very effective moves, but you’ll need to dizzy your opponent before hitting them. Hokuto¹s speed will allow you to hit the top rope moves earlier in a match though. GRAPPLES: Of the weak grapples, all except the Down+A Hammer blow are effective moves. Onto the mid grapples, I would say avoid the Piledriver, but it’s a head damaging move that helps set up the Northern Lights Bomb, so it is worth using maybe once or twice. All of the Strong Grapple moves are highly effective, but the Northern Lights Bomb, with the One Hit Finisher special skill increasing it’s power, is the killer move. OPPONENT DOWN MOVES: It is not recommended that you do too many covers when the opponent is down - the cover is an E rated move for Hokuto, meaning it wears her out to perform it, plus several of her strong grapple moves eventuate in a pinfall attempt anyway (Northen Lights Suplex, Doctor Bomb, High Angle German Suplex, Dragon Suplex). Her submission holds are effective inasmuch as any submission holds are effective in Fire Pro D. Her stomps and kneedrops are too, but with her fast movement speed you can hit the top rope Elbowdrop and Bodypress earlier in the match, and these are both more damaging to the opponent and less tiring to Houkto than the standing impact drops are. PLAYING AGAINST HOKUTO: One look at her statistics will tell you that she’s a physical wreck - low endurance time in every body part location. She also has very low Defence parameters almost across the board - Suplex, Flying, Technical and Rough being the only areas in which her defence is respectable. So she really isn¹t that hard to defeat, so long as you can keep winning the grapples. ======================= ==SECTION 6: CLOSING == ======================= Thanks to: * Bill Wood for creating the format for the Character guide FAQs (credit to Vipermask, CrazyEST and gBomber as well) * Puroresupower.com, Michiku Pro (http://www.cherrybabe.com/michiku/index.html), and GAEA Japan¹s official website (English version, http://www.gaora.co.jp/gaea/index-e.html) for biographical/ historical information * SPIKE for releasing Fire Pro D in the first place * GameFAQs and CJayC for hosting this FAQ * Akira Hokuto herself. http://www.gaora.co.jp/gaea/prfl/hokuto-e.html (C) 2002 AxxB
