I sure as heck don't, and never want to know. However, one fairly unique racing game in development over the past several years that has progressed is Carmageddon. Unlike other games where you race for a victory, Carmageddon has other objectives, such as splattering and causing as much chaos as possible. You basically roam around vast cities, populated with innocent human beings, and try to crush, splatter, or annihilate them for the highest "blood" score over your other opponents. Obviously, such a task requires some mean cars to help carry out the task, but that's pretty much what Carmageddon represents. Unfortunately, the game has lost its touch over the past couple of years to become nothing more than a small innovation. This guide will cover tips on getting past each level, any available cheats, and descriptions of the cars. Will you hear the crunching sound of broken bones, or lose the will to even turn on the car? Contributing/Feedback ---------------------------- If you have any contributions, feedback, or strategies you'd like to have added to the guide, contact me via e-mail or on GameFAQs. I'll be more than content to add your segment of information, and will also provide credit. If you have any questions you'd like added to the Common Questions section, ask. I simply don't have the time to sit around thinking of questions. Provide me with what you want to know! Updates ---------------------------- =03/10/11= vFinal Final update. =03/22/05= v1.0 Finished the FAQ. What an awful game. No ending, no cutscenes, just random ramparting missions based around splattering zombies. Disappointed. =03/21/05= v1.0 Started the FAQ. Expecting to finish this within the next 2 days, part of which is being done during College. Game isn't as great as the original 3D classics, but it does have up to 32 different levels; this should be interesting. ============================ - Table of Contents - ============================ 1) Introduction 2) Game Basics > Controls > Powerups > Racing 3) Vehicles 4) Tracks > 32 levels 5) Codes 6) Common Questions 7) Copyright/Distribution/Reproduction Guidelines 8) Proper Credits -<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>- ============================ - 1) Introduction - ============================ No one would have ever imagined that racing games would progress into a whole new series of violence. Who could have forseen a small innovation such as Carmageddon, displaying hard-working citizens getting splattered by a driving madman? This is the premise of Carmageddon, well sort of. Unlike the previous games in the series, Titus gave it a toned-down approach, by having you splatter evil Zombies that are roaming throughout the cities. Along the way, you'll complete various objectives such as destroying nuclear reactors, beating other opponents in time trials, and what not. Anyhow, Carmageddon plays off of an over-head view, similar to most portable racing games. Your car, while small, is displayed somewhat brightfully inside huge urban settings. Small zombies are shown as little sprites, which get smolded into a variety of colors after you run them over. If you go too slow, the bodies will sometimes get dragged under the car with you. The graphics, while creative, don't express the system's full potential. Many maps consist of repeated textures giving it a bland look. Gameplay itself is very repetitive, as each mission is based around meeting a certain quota of people to splatter, or laps to be completed. You have to do it under a specific time limit, otherwise, you blow up. For the most part, Carmageddon is nothing more than a mediocre racing game, with small-screen violence tossed in, and a wide variety of tracks/vehicles to choose from. The huge selection is what makes the game interesting, because you'll never get bored, unless this game isn't for you. ---------------------------- _____________________ ##### GAME INFO ##### //////////|\\\\\\\\\\ Players: 1 Developer: Titus Software Released: 2000 Rarity: uncommon Special Features: Password continuation Cover Art on cartridge: - Shows a bald man screaming while driving an enflamed car -<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>- ============================ - 2) Game Basics - ============================ The GBC's simplistic design makes Carmageddon look like complete cheese. You'll only be using two buttons for this one, so get use to em'. This header will briefly describe the controls. _________ /Controls/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= A - gas, accelerates B - uses current powerup, goes in reverse when stopped Left/Right - turns car left and right, hold down for tightest turn START - pauses game SELECT - changes weapons/powerups - The controls are very simple in this game. To get your car to move, simply hold down the A button the entire time. You should let go of the gas if you want to slow down, although pressing B will cause you to jump (and slow down greatly). Each car has varying controls, which is mainly decided upon based on how heavy the car weighs, and the top speed it can reach. The heavier a vehicle, the tougher it is to control. Aka, a faster car goes faster. _________ /Powerups/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Powerups are quite common in Carmageddon since they make a key difference between combat victories, or opposing annihiliations. Powerups can be retrieved only during racing on a track. You'll usually notice them in various shapes as red-colored elements. This section will briefly describe each of the powerups in Carmageddon. ~~`\ GAS CAN /`~~ """"""""""""""""" ICON: Red Gas Canister USEFULNESS: * PURPOSE: Splatters one oil slick directly behind your car. This is useful for temporarily disabling a car behind you, forcing it to "slide" out of the race. Unfortunately, due to comeback AI, its usefulness wears out quickly. Dropping one splatter isn't enough. ~~`\ TURBO /`~~ """"""""""""""" ICON: T-lettered box USEFULNESS: *** PURPOSE: Gives about 15 seconds of "enhanced" turbo speed, which causes your racer to go about 2/3's faster than normal. This is useful for taking back the lead, and has great duration. Very useful. Just be weary that the effects can backfire especially on sharp turns. ~~`\ MISSILE /`~~ """"""""""""""""" ICON: Red Gas Canister USEFULNESS: ** PURPOSE: Drops a bomb directly behind your car in a small arc pattern which causes a small explosive radius of damage. Personally not a big fan of this one, as the radius is small, and it's difficult to aim. Does extreme damage to a vehicle's hull if it hits. ~~`\ TIMER /`~~ """"""""""""""" ICON: Stopwatch USEFULNESS: ** PURPOSE: Automatically resets your end-race timer to 100 seconds. Useful for gaining needed seconds, but unnecessary as you only need to pass a checkpoint to gain a few seconds. _______ /Racing/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= While this word shouldn't "really" be defined as racing, this is all you do during Carmageddon. You must zoom around the city, kill as many, if not all of the zombies you see by splattering them, while not letting your timer reach 0:00, or letting your heart reduce to a pile of rubbish. This section will describe a few basic actions at hand. *&* TIMER/GOAL BAR *&* - Shown directly on the bottom of the screen, this bar will repeatedly flash showing your zombie objective, and timer countdown. If the timer reaches 0, you receive a game over. Your goal is to kill/splatter as many of the Zombies as you can, or complete laps by heading from checkpoint to checkpoint. This number shows how many you must kill to reach the quota. *&* WAYPOINT LOCATOR *&* - Located in the upper right corner with a small directional arrow and # next to it, this shows the nearest checkpoint in the race, with the # associated to that checkpoint. After you pass by a checkpoint, it will proceed to the next one. Remember, Carmageddon is both a race and for splattering for extra points. *&* HEART *&* - The amount of "life" your car has left is displayed in the lower left corner. It appears as a red heart. Each time you get banged up during the race, damaged severely, or hit from head-on, your heart will decrease in size. When it reaches to nothingness, your car blows up, and you die. You cannot let this happen at all costs. *&* LAP INDICATOR *&* - The number in the upper left corner tells what lap you currently are on in the race. This is another way of determining when the end of the race will be (if you decide to avoid splattering NPCs). -<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>- ============================ - 3) Vehicles - ============================ In racing games, the main characters are the cars. Without them, there would be no game, and hardly any entertainment to be provided. Vehicles in the game decide your own personal behavior traits. Some racers prefer cars with good handling, where they can ensure perfect handling around sharp curves. Others may decide upon the raving fast sports cars that allow them to put the pedal to the medal. Either way, cars are what get you around the track, and decide your true skills as a gamer. This section will briefly go over each of the racing automobiles in Carmageddon. Of course, some of them aren't necessarily cars. You can fly aeroplanes, tractor trailers, and even a Mach speed based vehicle. _____________ #@] EAGLE [@# \|||||||/____________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 200 |TON : 1 |COST : free - The starting vehicle for every game, the Eagle is the ideal car for splattering anything that moves (with light mass, of course). Looks similar a red colored Viper, its fairly weak hull will not last long against tougher opponents. However, it has awesome speed, and can do some decent damage to zombies. Tends to have sensitive controls. _____________________ #@] BLOOD RIVIERA [@# \|||||||||||||||/____________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 160 |TON : 1 |COST : 16000 - Looks like a black 70s muscle car, with some flames painted on the sides, this car is actually worse than the Eagle. However, it makes up for it with a custom blade mounted on the front engine which does enhanced damage to zombies. Definitely a killer car. ______________ #@] BEETLE [@# \||||||||/___________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 150 |TON : 3 |COST : 22000 - This car is more of the less a monster truck. It's a typical Beetle souped up on all fours with monster-truck tires, giving it an extreme height advantage over the other competition. The extra weight makes it ideal for smashing other cars, although it has trouble crushing smaller targets (such as people). _________________ #@] COW POKER [@# \|||||||||||/_________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 190 |TON : 2 |COST : 20000 - This blue classic 60s car is equipped with sharp spurs on the front which do extreme damage to small, pedestrian-like targets. It has a great balance between weight and speed truly giving it a top notch in my book. I prefer it over the Beetle, if you can afford it. ________________ #@] DC COBRA [@# \||||||||||/__________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 180 |TON : 1 |COST : 32000 - Another car well worth the saving up, if you're determined to buy it. Looks like an old sky blue Corvette, but has a tri-blade mounted on each wheel giving it disabling power against other opponents. This is definitely one of the best competition knockout cars available. ____________ #@] HAWK [@# \||||||/_____________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 240 |TON : 1 |COST : 19000 - To be honest, this is an upgraded Hawk - pure and simple. It's faster but still has the same problems of no mass or enhanced weapons. If you have the need for speed, consider this, but I'd rather one of the muscle cars. ______________ #@] JETCAR [@# \||||||||/___________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 190 |TON : 2 |COST : 12000 - Supposedly a superfast car with a jet engine mounted on the back, but why have a "lower" speed than the starting Eagle, makes no sense. Not really much incentive to purchase this, unless you want a little added mass or don't feel like saving up for something better. The enhanced speed gives it slightly worse handling though. _______________ #@] MACH 13 [@# \|||||||||/__________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 190 |TON : 1 |COST : 10000 - Pretty much a futuristic car with great speed, but an extremely weak hull. This can cause problems later on, hence why it has such a cheap price tag. No enhanced weapons or items makes it a bad choice. _______________ #@] PIRANHA [@# \|||||||||/__________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 130 |TON : 2 |COST : 8000 - Looks like a depressed rover with gigantic monster truck wheels. Great for handling off-road situations, such as dirt/desert, but can easily get squished by larger trucks. Lacks decent speed too. __________________ #@] PILEDRIVER [@# \||||||||||||/_______________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 220 |TON : 1 |COST : 15000 - Looks like a pink "well-covered" car that has extreme speed, but can easily lose that speed if hit by another vehicle with mass. Has weak shields, but something in the price range if you cannot afford the Hawk. _______________ #@] HARVEST [@# \|||||||||/__________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 120 |TON : 5 |COST : 68000 - The ultimate destructor in my opinion, the Harvest literally is a wheat harvesting machine with a hyped-up engine. Can get decent speed for its extreme weight, but has a wheat chopper mounted on front with a WIDE radius. Capable of chopping up civilians, buildings, just about anything that moves in its way. ______________ #@] POLICE [@# \||||||||/___________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 140 |TON : 2 |COST : 22000 - Basically just a cop version of one of the other racers. Supposedly has cop this and cop that, but really isn't too exciting for the high cost. An overrated vehicle that should rarely be used. Seems to be able to handle a beating beyond its own weight rating. ____________________ #@] PROP SHAFTER [@# \||||||||||||||/_____________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 190 |TON : 2 |COST : 8400 - Supposedly is a mix between a plane and a car, even though it was originally a prop in a movie. Nothing special about this vehicle, although it possesses mediocre speed, with some extra hull protection. __________________ #@] SLAM SEDAN [@# \||||||||||||/_______________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 120 |TON : 2 |COST : 17500 - Perfect for those who want to get down and dirty with crushing impacts, the Slam Sedan has two mounted poles that protrude out directly in the front. Ideal for hitting OTHER vehicles, although its price kind of exceeds its use. Speed isn't great altogether. ___________________ #@] SUPER STUKA [@# \|||||||||||||/______________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 400 |TON : 4 |COST : 16000 - A former WW2 bomber equipped to drive only on the road. Has the highest speed out of all vehicles, and even weight to propel behind it. It comes at the cost of horrible turning due to propeller-based engines. Certainly one of the unique to drive. By far the best vehicle in the game for the bang in the buck. Purchase this ASAP. ______________ #@] PLOUGH [@# \||||||||/___________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 120 |TON : 10 |COST : 50000 - By far the heaviest vehicle in the game, the Plough can smash through buildings or just about any other vehicle without having trouble (except the Harvest). Has a gigantic plow mounted on front which gives it such moving power. _______________ #@] THUNDER [@# \|||||||||/__________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 180 |TON : 3 |COST : 7400 - Looks like a Mustang, except it's affordable, has great armor, and average speed. The ideal beginner's car after you have enough credits to get rid of the Eagle. Definitely one you should grab! ________________ #@] ABBA CAB [@# \||||||||||/_________________________________________________________ /RATINGS: |MPH : 190 |TON : 6 |COST : Unlocked at the end - Hah, one half of an 18-wheeler, except this bessy is smokin' like kilbasse. This unlockable part tractor trailer has a humongous engine giving it extreme speed with heavy weight. Capable of blowing away the competition. Definitely a top pick as it can handle both off-road and concrete scenarios. Of course, it has to be unlocked. -<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>- ============================ - 4) Tracks - ============================ As always, the racing tracks are the main obtrusion players face during the entire game. Certain tracks are extremely tough to get by, while others can be a breeze if properly prepared. Carmageddon is organized based on "Groups", in which there are 4 tracks spotted in each. After completing the first 3 tracks, the final track is unlocked, and you must complete that to move onto the next group. Objectives are all about splattering as many zombies as possible, while completing laps on a track. This section will provide strategies for each track, in their groups, and any particular tips. ________ /Group 1/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ___________________ *^) NICE BEAVER (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver City # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (5) - Start off by zooming left past the point and head south. You'll hit the next point, but the road will expand to highway territory. Continue to zig-zag pattern yourself across the road to get maximum exposure on splattering the zombies. Cut a right near the bottom and head east. Continue to loop in a giant circle around, passing by each of the checkpoints. You probably won't win first place though, because the plane on this level tends to zoom by easily while taking shortcuts. Try to get a good balance, like 2nd or 3rd place with about 40 zombie kills. ____________________ *^) CITY SLICKER (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver City # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (5) - This is actually the same map as Nice Beaver, except the checkpoints are shifted around a bit. For starters, you'll find the first two points by doing some nifty navigation. Head directly left to the upper left corner, then south, and a cut right at the small aclove. Head down, right, to the first point, then south to the far bottom for the second, and seclude yourself on the sea highway to the far south. The rest are in order like a loop. As long as you triangulate towards the positions you should be alright. Watch out for head-ons from opposing drivers. They'll do this to often interfere with your racing rights. ____________________ *^) TWIN SHRIEKS (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Forest # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (6) - An ugly map for someone with no off-terrain vehicle. My recommendation is you get a slower vehicle, preferably with some weight for traction. This one is another giant octagon-like shape, except the second half consists of some intertwining through mangled trees/lumbery mills. Avoid hitting trees as they'll cause a great slowdown of speed. Not much to recommend, except stick to the road if possible. _____________________ *^) EYE OF BEAVER (^* [BOSS] ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Forest # GOAL: Destroy (4) satellite antennae - This mission is very easy, as long as you have a fast car. Select the fastest one possible, and start off by following your waypoint indicator. Two of the satellites are near the inner portion of the city, and can be reached with some intertwining. Speed down along the coastal highway to take out the last two. You'll have a time limit on this one. ________ /Group 2/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ____________________ *^) LOST GIBLETS (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver City # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (5) - Uses a similar map the original Beaver group, but has larger coastal highways. The checkpoints are organized in a giant circle as you start off, but intertwine towards the center. Head north after you reach point 3, to get the easiest route to all points. ___________________ *^) SWEET GROAN (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Max's Junkyard # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (6) - Don't be confused by the location of this map; it's very urban. Get a fast car, preferably the Eagle or an alternate, and use it frequently. Drive around the concrete roads, and make sure you directly cut north at point 5, since point 6 is on an isolated road. ______________ *^) TIMBER (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Forest # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (5) - The absolute start to this race will be a breeze. All you have to do is head south on a solid road. However, it will progressively get difficult, as the points cross into dirt terrain, with some sidetracking to be done in the forest. The Beetle is a great choice, although an off-road vehicle would be nice if it has more speed. Try making use of powerups to rid of the competition. ________________ *^) OUTBREAK (^* [BOSS] ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Forest # GOAL: Kill all zombies - While there are only 10 zombies on this map, their positions are well spread about. The true conflict comes in the fact that you're spawned ultimately as far away as possible from all possible targets. Your radar also misleads you to one of the farthest targets. Sadly enough, the buggies/rovers will not cut it on this map. You only have 45 seconds, so I recommend using a fast vehicle, but one that has decent stability. Try to follow your radar towards the most isolated ones in the forest, then zoom after the zombies on the road. This one is fairly difficult, and requires NO goofing around. Remember, faster is not necessarily better since you'll lose traction on the dirt. ________ /Group 3/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= _________________ *^) PISTE OFF (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Mountains # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (5) - Quite an easy map. Bring along a very fast car. Stay out of the white snow boundaries. If you stick the road, you'll hardly lose control on the turns, and be able to maximize your potential. The path will curve back and forth a few times, but nothing you cannot handle. ____________________ *^) THY NEIGHBOR (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Max's Junkyard # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (6) - Again, use a very fast vehicle, and follow the roads. You'll start off by heading south, but it gradually shifts into a generic circle path. You can take a few shortcuts by moving diagonally through abandoned areas and small alleyways. _____________________ *^) WOODY WRECKER (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Forest # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (5) - As usual, you'll have to peck through the forest with an albeit, somewhat fast vehicle. The Prop Truck makes a good choice. Most of the points are hidden in the forest. DO NOT head too far north when heading for checkpoint 2, as it's position is fairly deceiving. Pay close attention to your radar which will be blacked out whenever you're driving between rows of trees. _____________________ *^) TRUCKING HELL (^* [BOSS] ################################################################# # LOCATION: Max's Junkyard # GOAL: Destroy enemy Truck - Finally, we get a mission where we get to murder another driver. This is more like it! Try bringing the best destruction vehicle you own at this point, especially one with spikes, ramming power, or LOTS of weight. To be honest though, it's necessary to have a heavy vehicle, because you're facing one with 6 TONS. I chose to bring my Plough. For the most part, try to get Head On bonuses by ramming into him full speed. You can find missiles and mines around the area, although you may get whacked from behind a few times. The best strategy I've seen is to do whacks until he lures you into the gray gravel yard to the south. Now, try to corner him against one of the square borders, or inside a canyon aclove. Remember, there's a time limit, so be efficient. ________ /Group 4/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ____________________ *^) SNOW WAY OUT (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Mountains # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (6) - The laps on this one are absolutely huge, but speed is a definite ally for this one. Get an extremely fast car for this race. Stick to the road if possible, but don't be afraid to move through the snow for shortcuts. There are some actual quickies you can take by shifting through the snow, especially for the third checkpoint. The last checkpoint has a long straight road path back to point 1. ______________________ *^) WEST SIDE GORY (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Max's Junkyard # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (6) - As usual, try to get a fast car due to the sticky roads. The Hawk is an awesome choice, although you risk having a weak hull. Start up by going to the very top on this one; don't cut a right at the start. Once you hit the first point, the others should be in successive order one after the other. ______________________ *^) RUNWAY RUNAWAY (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Airport # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (6) - Try using the Super Stuka if you can snatch it. The price may be too high. For starters, you'll be able to get AWESOME speed on this one thanks to wide open areas with small runways. Stay on the roads, and hit the booster right after the third checkpoint to gain huge air. This provides a big shortcut. Hit the rest of the points in lap formation. _____________________ *^) IN COLD BLOOD (^* [BOSS] ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Mountains # GOAL: Complete one lap before clock runs out # POINTS: (6) - Unlike your previous maps which were many laps with a high amount of time, this one has limited time and ONLY 1 lap. You must be quick. I chose to bring along my Super Stuka from the previous mission. The first two checkpoints will be right in order. Look for an opening in the southern wall by either backtracking or driving slowly. Take it, proceed downward, boosting over the ramps for huge airtime. If you have trouble bouncing automatically, use manual jumps on the black barriers to manually jump boost. The Super Stuka gets much larger airtime than normal. Use these shortcuts throughout to hit the rest of the checkpoints. ________ /Group 5/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ________________ *^) BOB SLAY (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Mountains # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (6) - As usual, stick to a fast car, but not necessarily the Super Stuka. You'll need a tidbit more control during competition races. The first five points require some navigating to do, and you may have to mountain boost just for a vertical shortcut. The last checkpoint will be slightly out of the way north, so don't feel awkward heading in a different direction based on the road. Watch for the opponents on this one, as the one dragster is very aggressive. ____________________ *^) SEAMAN SPLAT (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: USS Lewinsky # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (3) - Choose a vehicle that has as much speed as possible, preferably the Super Stuka. This map is so easy you'll laugh. It's basically a plain, flat, carrier deck. There are no walls whatsoever. Simply zoom from point to point and stick with your navigation arrows. ___________________ *^) CON RAD AIR (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Airport # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (4) - Stick with the Super Stuka as usual. Boy has this vehicle's usefulness turned rock solid. Right near the beginning, manually hop over the gray wall, and you should be able to gun it straight on without doing anything else to the remaining three points. _____________________ *^) CONTROL FREAK (^* [BOSS] ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Airport # GOAL: Destroy all zombies - Pick the Super Stuka again. This one will take a few tries, mainly because you have to be as quick as possible, keeping a close eye on the screen, and splattering when you see them. Don't waste time repositioning yourself just to kill a zombie. Only hop over the gray wall once, until you're fairly close to it. Hopping back and forth over one is a waste of time. Remember, all zombies have to be killed before the time runs out. ________ /Group 6/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ____________________ *^) SHEIK BATTLE (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: El Morte Desert # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (6) - Use a fast car, but not the Stuka as it lacks control. I chose to bring the Hawk along. For the most part, stick to the black road, as that's where you'll find most of the points. The path rides around like a hexagon. __________________ *^) GOING DOWN (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: USS Lewinsky # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (5) - Open the cockpit to your lovely Super Stuka. A straightforward race from point to point, although you will have to make some metal barrier jumps this time using the Stuka. Similar to Beaver Mountains. ________________ *^) Airpain3 (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Beaver Airport # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (6) - Another typical spaced open race. Simply drive from point to point, boosting manually over gray walls or avoiding airpoint hangars. The Super Stuka makes this game a heck of a lot easier later on in the game, hence why it's such a valuable car. ________________ *^) HARDCORE (^* [BOSS] ################################################################# # LOCATION: USS Lewinsky # GOAL: Destroy weapons, the core, and Zombie Admiral - Start off with the Stuka. Follow your waypoint indicator to knock out each of the 4 weapons by running over them. The core is slightly tougher to find, as you have to triangulate to the position. Finally, tip it off by charging after the Admiral with your final amount of time. ________ /Group 7/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= _________________ *^) 2 MINUTES (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Missile Silo # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (6) - Another typical map. The map design is simple; everything is lined up in narrow hallways. Simply follow the straight lines which lead to each of the points. Stuka is a real plus for this one. _____________________ *^) DUNE BUGGERED (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: El Morte Desert # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (5) - Pick the Hawk and proceed south near the start. All of the points are lined up directly with the streets, so this is a huge plus. You'll eventually cross through a lit tunnel about halfway through, and the rest should be a piece of cake. ____________________ *^) DEFCON FUSED (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Missile Silo # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (5) - The game will automatically start you facing the wrong way. With your Stuka, turn around head north to point 1, then right, and go immediately south when you see a cut silver grating in the wall. This will lead downward, in which a right will take you to point 2. The rest of the points require extensive travelling, but can be reached in linear fashion according to the indicator. _____________________ *^) OIL BE BLOWED (^* [BOSS] ################################################################# # LOCATION: El Morte Desert # GOAL: Complete one lap under the time limit # POINTS: (6) - Chose my Hawk for this one. Immediately turn around, head north, then cut a right into the desert. Go under the building and you'll land on a road right by point 2. The rest of the points can be traced down via the roads, and you'll have plenty of time to complete the race. ________ /Group 8/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ____________________ *^) NUCLEAR ARMS (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: Missile Silo # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (6) - I chose my Stuka for this one. The strategy should be the same as the previous Silo mission. Everything will be based in narrow hallways, so drive via the hall that leads closest to the next point. Not much to guide you for on this one. ____________________ *^) USS LEWINSKY (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: USS Lewinsky # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (4) - Looks like the Zombie Admiral managed one more attack via his vessel. Zoom around to each of the points as the previous carrier missions by simply following your indicator. There are even less obtrusions on this one. _______________ *^) BEREAVE (^* ################################################################# # LOCATION: El Morte Desert # GOAL: Destroy Zombie Hordes while following points # POINTS: (5) - Another typical race through the desert. Be aware of the sharp turns usually between each point. Aside from that, you can try using the Stuka on this one to really zoom around since there aren't a ton of turns, just really sharp ones. ____________________ *^) CARPOCALYPSE (^* [BOSS] ################################################################# # LOCATION: Missile Silo # GOAL: Find and destroy the core - Quite an easy mission with the Super Stuka. Simply head right for a bit but keep your eye on the south wall. Look for a silver-grated floor hall. Take this hall down, then go right, head down, head left, and look at the northern wall for a blue-grated floor opening. Take this up, then curl around, and finally head to the center where the Core is. You won't have much time, but follow these directions to victory. -<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>- ============================ - 5) Codes - ============================ Codes are the only definitive way of expanding a game's depth and/or effiency to beyond your own imagination. Thankfully, Titus decided to toss in NO codes to actually help improve the gameplay. If you want to save yourself the time and trouble of completing all of the levels by yourself, you can use a universal password. I'd like to thank: - http://www.gamewinners.com/ for providing this password. PASSWORD: 0Z6SZD(skull symbol)V ^ This will unlock 40000 credits, with all stages completed. -<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>- ============================= - 6) Common Questions - ============================= )) Gameplay (( ---------------------------- << How does this game compare to other racing games for the GBC? >> - To be honest, it's not that great. This game at most could be considered average, however, the game's in-depth approach with 32 missions, and an overwhelming amount of vehicles helps it get an extra point. I've never seen such a portable racing game have so much expansion. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of quality. Everything in Carmageddon is average, but not exceptional. The game's premise is extremely repetitive and boring, as almost every mission requires you racing from point to point with no actual objective at hand. You don't get ranked during the races based on whether or not your competition reaches a point first. It's just a matter of you surviving the race, which is extremely easy, because there is no set difficulty, and purchasing an overpowering vehicle guarantees success each and every time. The added depth helps keep the player occupied, but the true flaws show out in the gameplay system. It simply is not entertaining. The fact that you're splattering Zombies for no reason, receive no plot support, no cutscenes, and not even a game ending scene is just pathetic. I'd rate it a 5/10. << Is there some credits glitch? >> - Yes. I actually played only the first two missions, wrote down my password, and took a break. When I came back to the game, and loaded in my password, I had over 4 million credits stashed in my bank, even though I only earned 17,000. Not sure if it was a rollback glitch or what. << What's the best vehicle in the game? >> - Definitely the Super Stuka, which is a transformed WW2 bomber (into ground vehicle). This baby has the best speed out of all cars (400 MPH), decent weight, and best of all, it can make this game a breeze. Truly makes running around levels an easy task, and is necessary for some of the later boss time trials. << So there's no ending, huh? >> - Yeah. You'd think Titus would have tossed something in, but instead, we have a crazy person driving around splattering zombies, blowing up reactor cores, and saving the world from his imaginary glory. Simply a cheap ripoff. << How come this isn't like the original? >> - Probably because Nintendo said: "We don't want real violence in portable games." The original Carmageddon featured a crazed driver splattering pedestrians on streets with blood squirting everywhere. It eventually got banned from the default PC games market, although you can still buy it legally on eBay or what not. Instead, this remake for the GBC has you killing "zombies" who relinquish green blood. The plot has no basis whatsoever, makes no sense, completing turning this game into a joke. No authenticity anywhere. -<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>--<>- ===================================================== - 7) Copyright/Distribution/Reproduction Guidelines - ===================================================== This FAQ/Strategy Guide/Walkthrough is my own published work, and copyrighted by Christopher Zawada.
