Story ******** ------------ Introduction ------------ Welcome brave hero! Chose one of four character classes, then run the gauntlet of evil that has infested the five kingdoms of this universe. Scour these worlds for glory, treasure and magic! Retrieve the mystical Legends of Gauntlet; ultimate weapons whose power, when harnessed, will destroy the vile forces that have overrun this once peaceful land. Up to four brave individuals can travel through more than 30 levels, face hordes of monsters, search for treasure, avoide traps, pick up and use magic, encounter fantastic level bosses and try to escape with their lives! Each level holds hidden secrets and power-ups. Each player gains valuable experience points which cause characters to gain levels and increase their power! You are one of the heroes who have been summoned forth by the benevolent Wizard Sumner to rid the four worlds of Gauntlet fo the evil demon Skorne and his minions. Skorne was unleashed from the bowels of the Underworld by Sumner's vile brother, Garm, who is now missing and presumed dead. You begin your quest in "Sumner's Tower" and must travel through each world. Within each world, you must find the special Obelisks you'll use to free Sumner's power. Skorne stole Sumner's power and locked it within these obelisks. On your quest, you must find the 4 shards of glass needed to rebuild the magical stained glass window in Sumner's tower. When all four pieces are found, you'll gain access to the Desecrated Temple. Within each world lies the ancient Rune Stones. Collect keys and open treasure chests to recieve power-ups and magic potions. Collect all 13 Rune Stones to open the gateway to the Underworld, where you can face and defeat the demon Skorne and banish him once and for all! ---------- Characters ---------- *Koric the Warrior* Healthy with great strength, the Warrior is a good chioce for first-time players. He is durable, able to dish out punishment and can hold his own in hand-to-hand combat. One of those big muscle guys that loves to leave a trail of blood behind him. But he is only good at fighting one-on-one so not really great with spells and stuff. *Freya the Valkyrie* Beautiful but deadly, the Valkyrie's best attribute is her durability. Having both a high armour class and good health, the Valkyrie is another good choice for a beginner. The only reason I would pick her is so I can look at the babe kill hundreds of enmies while still remaining very attractive. An all-round character. *Siris the Wizard* The ability to use magic better than others is the Wizard's best strength. With a magic rating higher that other characters, his magic attacks have a much stronger effect. However, the Wizard is not good at hand-to-hand combat. This is the character I chose because magicians are always seen saving the heroes butt (eg Connan). So now I can walk through the levels, shooting heaps of bolts of lighting and creating the greatest destruction a potion could make. *Aeowyn the Archer* Similar to the Wizard, the Archer's greatest strength lies in her speed. The Archer is the fastest of the characters, a formidable foe for any enemy. The Archer is not good at hand-to-hand combat and has a weaker armour class compared to the Warrior and Valkyrie. She is also one of the worst characters. She is only good when the Warrior is with her stopping all the enemies getting to her. *Sumner* The good wizard is your guide through the worlds of Gauntlet. He enlists the aid of the 4 legendary heroes to help him vanquish the evil demon Skorne. An aged man who is very strong in magic, Sumner is a powerful ally to the forces of good. So if he is so powerful, then how come Skorne took over his tower. Something aint right there. Anyway, chosing this guy (after unlocking him) doesnt do anything except change his appearence. *Skorne* Released from the Underworld when Garm combined the 13 Rune Stones, Skorne escaped and quickly took control over the worlds of Gauntlet. Skorne is evil incarnate and is easily the most powerful enemy of the game. With his armies of evil before him, Skorne seeks to destroy all that is good...unless you can stop him! Well I dont mean to be crude, but have you seen that picture on the front cover of the manual. It looks like some big orange thing is stuck up his arse. Now we all know why he is so angry. *********** 3. Staratergies *************** -------------------- 1 Player Stratergies -------------------- Go slowly. Unlike the arcade mode, your health doesn't decrease. Take each section slowly making sure you have checked it thoroughly for all secret sections and buttons. Also don't forget to look for all keys and not destroy the magic. Kill the most deadly warriors. If you are being attacked my a bomber or archer, then kill them first. They will end up doing heaps of damage if they are left alive. Also when you hear a suicide guy scream, be on guard. Get ready to shoot him as soo as you see him or he will cause over 100 damage. And finally, never ever let death touch you. If he starts following you, run into a bunch of monsters and use your magic then. Shoot those generators. If there is a pile of monsters on your left, and a clear path to a generator on your right, shoot the generator. There is no reason to let the generator make any monsters because you will have to kill them all or even be killed yourself. Also line up those turbo attacks to kill a row of generators. Dont shoot those generators. Well I hate arguing with myself but sometimes, there are heaps of monsters coming for you, but you are so strong that they will neve reach you. So just stand there and rack up those experiece points. After a while, no more monsters will come from that generator so then you can kill it, but you would have probably gone up one level. Use turbo attacks. You have an unlimited number of these so use them at will. Wait untill it is at its maximum because that is the best effect. Also, if there are any monsters that you can see behing a door, shoot a turbo attack down there, it will probably kill all of them and even the generator. ------------------------- 2 to 4 Player Stratergies ------------------------- All these stratergies are the same as one player but there is an extra advantage. There are sometime bridges that only appear when you are on the button. One person stands on the button while the other goes on the bridge. The one on the button can then get off the button and join his friend on the bridge to continue their journey. But with one player, he can sometimes use Extra Speed and turbo to get on the bridge before it dissapears. ---------------- Boss Stratergies ---------------- After juming in the portal, turn all these inventory objects on. Any weapon upgrade, Rapid Fire, Phoneix, 5 Way Shot, Reflective Shot, and Reflective Shield. And always have the Legend Weapons because these help kill the monster in a great way. ******** 5. Guide ******** -------- Powerups -------- Thunder Hammer - The Thunder Hammer is a weapon that has been left by the god Thor. This hammer causes serious damage by killing every monster in sight. Comes with little ammo. Shrink Enemies - Shrink Enemies makes all the enemies some what smaller that you. Player Growth - Player Growth make you some what bigger then everyone. No one can pick on the big, tough guy. Phoenix - One if the best, this lets the legendary bird fight alongside you. The Phoenix spits huge balles of fire. A great ally. Invisibility - Gives you invisibility. That means no one can see you and you can make some serious havoc. Timestop - Freezes all enemies so they cant move. Check out the codes section to really abuse this power. Super Shot - Gives you a number of shots that act like a full level turbo attack. Acid Breath - Gives you acid breath. Did you eat garlic. Electric Breath - Gives you electric breath. Or was it beans. Fire Breath - Gives you fire breath. Or was it brussel sprouts. Light Amulet - Makes you weapon more powerful. Great for killing lined up enemies. Reflect Shield - Makes you white, and any damage delt to you is delt to the person who delt it. Reflect Shot - All you shoits bounce off walls. Rapid Fire - Makes you shoot a little faster then normal. Levitate - I'm not exactly sure how this works (Send in if you know). Speed Burst - Makes you move a lot faster. Great for using those invisable bridge switches when in single player mode. 5 Way Shot - Makes you shoot 5 shots instead of one. Great for killing bosses. 3 Way Shot - Makes you shoot 3 shots instead of one. Good for killing bosses. ---------------------------------------- World and Level Listings and World Stats ---------------------------------------- Warrior's Mountain ------------------ This once dormant volcano is now bursting with activity due to Skorne's vile influence. Lava flows like water here. This was once home to the Barbarian Kingdom - but is now under the cloud of Skorne's dark magic. Arrow/Bomb Guys : 0 Deaths : 0 Generators : Legendary Weapons : 0 Obelisks : 0 Rune Stones : 0 Suicide Guys : 0 Treasure Chests : - Desecrated Temple - Skorne's Domain The Battlefield --------------- Located somewhere in this level is the last of the 13 Rune Stones. Skorne has unleashed an "Undead" army upon Sumner's Tower! Protect the tower at all costs and recover the last Rune Stone! Once you have acomplished this, you must now follow Skorne to the Underworld and destroy him once and for all! Arrow/Bomb Guys : Deaths : Generators : Legendary Weapons : Obelisks : Rune Stones : Suicide Guys : Treasure Chests : - Trenches - Towers - Fortress The Underworld -------------- The Underworld is repleate with every form of demon and departed spirit a worst nightmare could conjure up. This is Skorne's home. There is NO GOING BACK to Sumner's Tower. The only way out is through victory! Defeating Skorne here kills the beast for good and wins the game. Arrow/Bomb Guys : 0 Deaths : 0 Generators : Legendary Weapons : 0 Obelisks : 0 Rune Stones : 0 Suicide Guys : 0 Treasure Chests : 0 - Underworld - Skorne's Domain ------------------ Level Walkthroughs ------------------ *NOTE* I currently have a level 80 Wizard and all the levels are harder now. So this means that where I say there are 4 generators here, there may only be 2 generatos there for you because you have a level 5 something. So dont worry so much if you cant find all of the 24 generators in the first stage because there are probably only 10 there for you. Mountain World -------------- *Valley* Arrow/Bomb Guys : 4 Deaths : 0 Generators : 24 Legendary Weapons : 0 Obelisks : 1 Rune Stones : 0 Suicide Guys : 3 Treasure Chests : 8 Start off by killing the generator above you and the two down in the bottom left corner. Get all treasure chests, keys, and gold and then go next to the bridge. Kill the arrow shooter and collect the key behind him. Do not unlock the door with the steps behind it except cross the bridge and kill the 3 generators. Step on the button near the bridge to raise the the obelisks and activate it. Then continue up those steps and kill the generator there. Follow the path and destroy the generator. Do not do down the sept eexcept go up the steps where lots of monsters will be waiting and also a suicide guy. Destroy 4 generators here and then unlock the door and continue up. Collect the treasure chest here then send a turbo attack to the left because there are heaps of monsters there. Once the 4 generators have been destroyed go throught the locked door up some more steps. Destry the four generators and collect all the treasure. Dont forget there is an arrow guy here. Stand on the switch that is under the barrel to pass. Up the stairs, there is a suicide guy, an arrow guy, and 4 generators. Go up stairs to get the last generator and the exit is to the left. *Peak* Arrow/Bomb Guys : 8 Deaths : 1 Generators : 29 Legendary Weapons : 0 Obelisks : 1 Rune Stones : 1 Suicide Guys : 3 Treasure Chests : 16 Imediately, kill the two generators you can see and the other one to the right. Dont forget the treasure chest because it has a Invunrability in it. Go up the left side and destroy the 3 generators and arrow dude. Dont forget the hidden switch under the pile of dirt. Go up the hill to destroy 2 generators, collect a chest, and continue up the hill to destroy an arrow guy and a generator. Continue along the path to destroy the 2 generators. Where the patch divides, take the lower route. Take out the generator and go down a little collecting a tresure chest and another generator. There are also 2 rrow guys along here. Go up the big hill and there will be heaps of monsters coming from 4 generators. Watch out for the suicide guy. Remember this spot because you can get a levitation from here, but for now, go up the uppermost hill and send a turbo attack down there, it will take out4 generators and any monsters. Collect the treasure at the end before going up. After going up the steep hill you will encounter 2 generators, a suicide guy, and an arrow guy and a death in the chest. After going now you will meet another arrow guy along with 2 generators. If you want some experience, go down to meet a bomb guy and another generator, but this trip is useless. Go up where there will be 4 generators and a Golem. Just keep shooting him from a distance and try to get him stuck because then you can hit him and he cant hit you. Follow the lower path and kill the generator there, when the pats starts so go up, shoot the lighter coloured wall to recieve the first rune stone. Continue along to kill another 2 generators and open 2 chests. Collect the gold and step on the hidden button to release the levitation. Dont open the door because you should waste keys on better things. Instead, go back to where the Golem was and go up. Destroy the 2 bombers, suicide guy and 2 generators and then go along the higher path. Up there there will be 4 chests and an exit. But first go back to where I told you to remember and there would be a new cave with a levitation in it. *Cliff* Send your walkthrough if you have written one to get it printed here. *Cave* Send your walkthrough if you have written one to get it printed here. *Cavern* Send your walkthrough if you have written one to get it printed here. *Dragon* Arrow/Bomb Guys : 0 Deaths : 0 Generators : 0 Legendary Weapons : 0 Obelisks : 0 Rune Stones : 0 Suicide Guys : 0 Treasure Chests : 0 Well start off by putting on the powerups that I mention in my boss stratergies. He only has four different attacks and most can be stopped by standing behind the rocks. If you have the Ice Axe, he will be frozen for a while at the start. Use this time to make some serious havoc on him and try to get him down half way. When he shoots a fireball, just move out the way. When he breaths fire, run back to the edge of the mountain. If he blows the wind, or shoots two fireballs on either side of you, then you have no option but to get hit, but this doesn't do hardly any damage anyway. Just continue to shoot at him untill he dies and gives you a piece of the window.
