INTRODUCTION G0100 =============================================================================== Welcome to 'Radikal Bikers' for the Playstation, released by Bit Managers in 1999. Suggestions, comments or errors - tell me about it. Enjoy! =============================================================================== 02.) OVERVIEW & CONTROLS G0200 =============================================================================== The controls are really easy, you have an accelerate and break button whereas pressing DOWN makes a wheelie, which makes jumping slightly smoother. Icons: `````` ? Gives you a random item. Turbo High Speed, these are the most important icons to get. Power Kick You can kick vehicles out of the way, including hippos. Does not work on the opponent rider. Bonus Money bonus +1 Time Adds one second to the countdown, one second can make a big difference. Radikal Tipz: ````````````` Due to the scripted traffic it is very hard to give a step-by-step path to best clear the level. Here are some good ways to improve your riding: - Never, ever, run into a wall if you don't have to. With a Turbo it is easier to recover but anything else costs a lot of time. - Similarly, do not hit any vehicles, boxes or barrels on the track. - Do not get too close to another vehicle unles you have a Power Kick. - You cannot kick the other opponent, even with a Power Kick. Thus ignore and avoid him/her. - Whereas it is advisable to take the inner line, often you may want to take a turn better to avoid oncoming traffic, enter another turn after etc. Once you learn the track better you will know when to do this. - Aim for Turbos, Power Kicks are more or less "nice" rather than "required" to get through the level well. +1 Time is good to have if it doesn't require a detour. Even the jump might cost you close to one second. - Take most shortcuts, they will always help. Read the track descriptions for more details. Radikal Mode: ````````````` In this mode, taking damage means a loss of pizza slices and in the end less points when you finish first. A whole pizza is worth 10,000 points, so half would be 5,000. You must finish each race first to move on. You can retry as often as you like. Buying bikes is for aesthetics only. The items you are asked to pick up are almost always hidden in the shortcuts. Once you have played Arkade Mode often enough this should be easy to find. Bikes: Bruno Molov 0 Riko Shabby 40,000 Frenzy Mario 100,000 Pablo's Mamak 150,000 Krazy 200,000 Royal 250,000 Palace 300,000 PSX vs ARC: ``````````` There are a few differences between the Arcade version that was ported to the Playstation: - Graphics downsized for the PlayStation's abilities. - 4 extra playable characters instead of just 2. - split screen 2-Player mode, rather than having to find an arcade with two linked arcade machines. - Radikal Mode is all new for the console. =============================================================================== 03.) ARKADE MODE G0300 =============================================================================== Easy (Margherita): `````````````````` Race 1 After the tunnel, go straight into the alley for a SHORTCUT (1/2) plus there is a jump with an icon. At the next bend, either turn very sharp left or only slightly left to catch the High- Speed icon via jumping. Turn right at the next corner, using the cafe interior as a shorter route. Soon there is another ramp with a Power Kick. After the U-Turn, once you are at the top of the hill the road will bend to the left for another SHORTCUT (2/2). There is an alley on the left that will lead to the +Time just before the finish line. Race 2 Stay right for the +Time, then on the left for the ? icon. After the bend, stick to the right for a Turbo. When the tunnel begins, take a right turn into SHORTCUT. Continue on this tunnel and jump over the gap, collecting one or both icons while you jump to the second part of this SHORTCUT. At the end of the tunnel stick to the right for a Power Kick, which may come in useful with the traffic ahead. When you get through the gate, there is a Turbo in one of the corners and a +Time on the right side. With the high speed you can even try to get over the large truck here. Race 3 Get on the right side of the truck, then continue until you enter a tunnel. At the top of the first slope there is a SHORTCUT leading to the right side. If you were fast enough you can jump over the next gap with the ramp, but you can still make it across without to continue this SHORTCUT. At the end of the tunnel, jump to get the +Time before the time is extended. Follow this path and dodge the zombies at the end. Final Race Dodge the zombies as before, then jump to get both the Turbo and Power Kick. After the U-turn when the road enters a tunnel and has a sharp right turn, get over to the left to make this jump. You'll get a Turbo and land on the higher part of this corner. Continue going diagonally across the streets to crash through the cafe at the next corner and then hug the right wall to go through the SHORTCUT in this alley. Jump to get another Turbo and speed through the rest of the level. If you were fast enough you could get a +Time near the end by using a van's ramp. Medium (Capricciosa): ````````````````````` Race 1 Immediately after the start, go right into the SHORTCUT (1/3) without hitting one of the pedestrians if you can. At the end of this alley, use the jump on the right to get a Power Kick. There is another Power Kick on the right soon. After the time is extended, try not to hit another red pedestrian as you use the SHORTCUT (2/3) on the right in front of the hedges. Makes the jump clean so you don't hit the garbage truck behind it. There are two constructions on the street, the first one has a Turbo whereas the second a +Time. Next up you will enter a tunnel. After it bends back to the left watch out on the left wall for a very large spider web. Drive through it for a SHORTCUT (3/3) and you're nearly at the end. Race 2 As you reach the fountain, stay in the middle to get three icons. When you are at the top of the slope turn sharp left for a SHORTCUT (1/3). Stay in the middle once again to get the ramp up to the Turbo. When you reach the next slope, turn sharp right for another SHORTCUT (2/3) with a Power Kick. After you pass the rhinos in the tunnel, there is a SHORTCUT (3/3) on the right side which is easy to spot. However, the left side has a Turbo coming up and it makes up for the same time, possibly even faster. The extra second it will take on the right is made up by the +Time you can easily pick up whereas on the left you need to speed into a vehicle just as it passes underneath which requires plenty of luck. Race 3 This is reverse of Race 2. Going straight instead of turning right as the CPU is the first SHORTCUT (1/3) and it's just a little bit faster I think. After slope, turn sharp left into the SHORTCUT (2/3) and then take the ramp up to the Turbo. After the glass tunnel turn sharp right for another SHORTCUT (3/3). There are two icons if you stay in the middle of the fountain and another ? on the right side before the finish line. Final Race After entering the tunnel, drive through the large spider web on the right to find a SHORTCUT (1/3) and Power Kick. Grab the Turbo after the tunnel. There is a +Time on the right just before the time is extended, but if you take that while in high speed you may miss out on the SHORTCUT (2/3) on the left. As you go along the winding road watch out for a high ladder on the right that can be used as a ramp to get into the SHORTCUT (3/3) on the left. You may need to jump off to the left before the end or else shoot far along the normal path instead. Hard (Diabola): ``````````````` Race 1 Immediately steer left and get the Turbo, ignore the Power Kick on the right side and instead take the second Turbo around the corner. Further down in the tunnel there is a SHORTCUT (1/2) through the parking lot, it's a little tricky to maneuver. Turn left at the end of the lot and follow around until you see a ship on the left. Enter this SHORTCUT (2/2) and dodge the annoyingly placed forklift there to arrive at the finish line. Race 2 Quickly get on the truck with a ramp to get the Turbo at the top of the boxes. You need to get this right so you turn right inside the warehouse and don't hit walls. There is a SHORTCUT (1/2) going left just after the next bend left but at these speeds you won't make it and it is also not worth it. Outside the warehouse, there are useless icons on the left but the last item on the top area might result in a Turbo. You do need to get around the stacked boxes and it might cost you some time. Inside the next warehouse, do NOT turn right into the SHORTCUT (2/2). It is filled with explosive barrels and bumps which cost time to get through, and the only bonus you get is a Power Kick at the end. Instead continue on the main road. If you want to get the +Time coming up, make sure you are on the very right side of the ramp as otherwise you bump into the forklift coming towards you. The finish is at the top of this curved road. Race 3 Get on the right side of the truck and go down this curved road. When you get into the warehouse, continue straight into the tunnel SHORTCUT (1/1) and with the Turbo you can ignore all these barrels. Turn left at the end and when you get back outside, stay on the right side for a jump going into another Turbo. Follow the roads and soon you will get to the finish line already. Final Race Stay on the right while you go up the road to find a jump with a Turbo. As you go left you will enter a tunnel, turn right into the parking lot SHORTCUT (1/1) and right at the end of it. If you miss this there is a Turbo on the inner lane of oncoming traffic, but it's tough to get without hitting traffic too. Follow the road around the circle and then stay on the right side for another Turbo that will take you to the end. =============================================================================== YY.) MINI-REVIEW GYY00 =============================================================================== This isn't meant to be a full review, just a few notes about the game's pros and cons as well as other things worth mentioning. Gameplay: 6/10 This game can be frustrating. Bumping into cars, getting stuck in walls and running out of time way too often. Once you get to know the tracks the game becomes more enjoyable and you will most likely beat all three difficulty settings soon enough. Radikal mode is a little boring, as it just means having to race the same tracks and find some items on the way. Graphics: 7/10 It was obvious the Arcade version could not be working on the Playstation. A Playstation 2 port would be sweet but the graphics weren't that spectacular and most vehicles and pedestrians were blocky to behind with. Sound: 8/10 "I'm the Pizza Man" - that's some original sound track. I think you'll get a laugh from this, and that's what it tries to do. There aren't many tracks but they sound pretty kewl, which fits to the radikal setting. Overall: 7/10 Some sweet arcade action for the PSX, it's not too long but plenty of fun. =============================================================================== ZZ.)
