Titus the Fox: To Marrakech and Back Game Boy Developer: Aqua Pacific Publisher: Titus Software By: GammaBetaAlpha ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Table of Contents -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ How to Play [HOWT] Walkthrough [WALK] Donations/Amazon [DONT] Contact Info [CONT] ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- How to Play -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [HOWT] Titus the Fox is a fairly basic platforming game, with more emphasis on exploration throughout the levels than straight-up fighting enemies. Titus the Fox can pick up and throw boxes at enemies, however. Littered throughout each level are numerous boxes with diamond shapes in them. These are score boxes, also referred to as bonuses, which increase your level bonus. The game is divided into six levels, with each level consisting of two halves. After the first five levels, you will be able to play a bonus level, where you can max out your bonuses for the entire level (up to a total of 500), but must find the exit before the time limit of 100 seconds runs out for the bonus level. If you have two copies of the game and a link cable, you can also bring in the character Zorro for two players to play at once. The Game Boy Color game Titus the Fox is basically identical to the monochrome Game Boy game, just with enhanced graphics as a result of the transition to color. Controls -------- A - Jump B - Pick up items - Throw Items Left/Right - Move around Down - Crouch (Crouch is needed to crawl through narrow spaces) Difficulty ---------- There does not appear to be any difference in the level structure between the difficulties. Rather, the speed of the game appears to double if you choose Hard Mode - while Titus can move faster, the enemies also jump up in speed in lockstep, so you will have less time to react to dodging enemies and projectiles. Jumping ------- In Titus the Fox, there are some odd physics here and there. For example, if you stand on the side of a windowsill instead of the centre, and jump, you can hop higher from the side. This is especially important when carrying items, as jumping from the side will allow you to make the jump, but not if you are on the centre. If you find a balloon, hop on it. On the fourth hop and every hop thereafter, you will jump especially high, which is useful for reaching otherwise inaccessible high ledges. Throwing Crates --------------- Littered throughout the levels are crates or boxes which Titus can pick up and throw at enemies to eliminate them. Pick them up by pressing the B button, and then throw using the B button again. The crates are reusable, but they can slide off a ledge if you are not careful. To minimise the distance a crate (or a balloon) is thrown, press the down button to crouch and then the B button to release the item. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Walkthrough -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [WALK] To get to a specific level, search [LxVx], where x is the number of the level you want to go to in numerical format and the part number (1 for part one, 2 for part 2). Level One Part One ------------------ [L1V1] Move forward, and pick up one of the crates by using the B button while right over top of it. Hop over the pillar, and take out the first enemy using your box, crouching if you have to after throwing it to dodge a projectile. Take the crate and continue right, eliminating a patrolling goon. Grab the box again, and proceed right once more, hitting both a guard dog and another gunman sitting down on the ground. Backtrack and walk left until you find a sphere-shaped object on the ground. This is a balloon, where if you jump on it, you can steadily go higher and higher, with the fourth jump being the highest. Grab this, then return right all the way until you hit a pillar, and a pillar will sprout from the ground underneath Titus, lifting you up into the sky. Hop _left_ from where you go onto a rooftop. Jump over the dog you encounter while going past. Toss the balloon onto the rooftop a short ways away from the left end of the roof. Hop onto the balloon. Once you get the highest jump possible, hop off and go left to land on a high platform to your left with a goon walking around and a lot of score boxes. Grab as many score boxes as you can, but be careful - there is a weak block in the middle which will crumble once Titus walks over it, dropping you down to another ledge with some more score boxes. After you have grabbed everything you want, drop down to the ground to the start of where the level was. Go left to grab another balloon, then head right until you hit where the building was. Jump up the windowsills - you will need to stand on the edge of the windowsill to do this, as it seems that is the only spot you can clear the jump from is. Once you hit the lower end of the rooftop, toss your balloon down and use it to jump to the higher section. Cross the rooftop right and go onto the pillar. Jump to the right onto a high pillar, and grab as many score bonuses as you can. Continue on by hopping right over the gap to another area with bonuses - however, once you start walking right, part of the platform will crumble, so watch out for that. When you are finally done here, walk off to the right to fall down to another ledge, then left and down again. Move right and hop over a goon, then down to the ground. Proceed on and over a sitting enemy, and continue right to wrap up the level. Level One Part Two ------------------ [L1V2] Start by hopping up the nearby windowsills and ledges to the top of the building. At the rooftop, grab the score bonuses as you walk right, and jump over the sitting enemy onto the chimney. Shuffle around on the chimney and a platform will extend out as you proceed right, with one single narrow gap. Collect the score bonuses, then fall down the gap. Proceed to collect the nearby score bonuses, then run left and jump off the platform to get back to the building at the start of the level. Hop up to the rooftop again, jump over the sitting enemy, and move across the platform in the air, going over the gap this time. Continue hoping over gaps and onto blocks and pressing right up high until you get to an end point with lots of score bonuses. After, move left and drop down as soon as you can, then press right across another rooftop and over one last sitting enemy to drop down to the ground and finish the level. Level Two Part One ------------------ [L2V1] Hop up to the top ledge and jump over the skeleton, then jump again while pressing against the right wall to go over a secret area. Walk right until you exit out the wall, then press left to move back into an entrance to a chamber with lots of score bonuses. Move back out and walk right a ways, and you will activate a pillar that will thrust you into the sky. Grab the available bonuses at the top from the left side, then run over to the right side and get the bonuses here as well. Drop down to your right side and press AND jump against the right wall for blocks to disappear. Proceed right and down. Get past a skeleton and then wonder along the ground floor until a panel breaks underneath you, and press left to avoid a spike. From now on, this level is far more linear than the two sections of the first one, so be careful. Move left hopping over the platforms and dodging the fly-enemies. After that, you will have to start crouching and moving through some narrow tunnels. There are four flies that inhabit this area with short chambers in between for you to stay in and attempt to jump over them when they come out going right. If you have lots of energy still you may wish to consider just taking the hit to skip past quickly. Once you escape, walk left a bit further to wrap up the area. Level Two Part Two ------------------ [L2V2] In this level, there are two ways to go about getting to the end. The first method is to drop down and go right through the level, grabbing the first balloon that you see and using it to hop onto the higher ledges for more bonus balls. Once you get to the right end, start climbing up and moving around and proceed left to grab some more score bonuses, eventually ending up at the end of the level. You can also just drop off down the platform at the very beginning of the level, and then press left against the wall to open up a secret passage. Go through this secret passage and a geyser will push you up to the ending of the level. You may also want to just go get score bonuses and then return here to go up. Level Three Part One -------------------- [L3V1] Head right and go up the ladder. You will probably have to take the hit as I see no way of getting past him without damage. Go up some more and then right, then drop straight down to a crate. Pick up the crate, and start moving right across spike beds and water, throwing the crate whenever you must to knock enemies out of your path. Climb up at the end and head right again. Drop down and grab some score bonuses to your right. There will be a panel in the water which will crumble, allowing you to drop down, but ignore it and instead climb back up with crate in hand. Throw the crate over first and then jump in behind it. Move around the chamber here to pick up score bonuses, then grab a box and go to the lower right of the area. Take the left ladder down and go left across the small platforms, taking out a few flies on the way as well. Once you have to drop down, continue left, but jump up across the gaps to the platforms - the first little bit has a floor bottom that will kill you if you touch it. Continue on a little way to find two thuggish enemies patrolling back and forth on a platform. Grab the crate here and use it to take them both out, then climb up and left to get to the level exit. Level Three Part Two -------------------- [L3V2] Move left past the couple of enemies at the start and grab the crate at the end of the path. Climb up the ladder and hop along the platforms going right to pick up Score Bonuses, then drop down through the large cross-section of bonuses. From there, exit out and start jumping and hopping left while still wielding your crate against a plethora of enemies to grab bonuses from several nooks and crannies. Head right back to the right end of the area and crawl into a small chamber with more bonuses. Grab the crate and jump up the ledges against the left wall. Move up and then right to a ladder and drop down to grab some bonuses. Do a second scaling up the wall and then continue right and up across gaps. Grab some more bonuses around here, then continue onwards. Once you drop off the side of a high wall, press right to avoid falling into a spike bed. Head across some water to solid ground at the end, and climb up three consecutive ladders to hit the top of the chamber. Crawl left, using the ledge in the short chamber in between to avoid an enemy, and then continue to hit the level end. Level Four Part One ------------------- [L4V1] Move right until you get out of the narrow corridor at the start, and hop onto one of the platforms. Continue and drop off the platform at the end to the ground floor. Grab the crate sitting nearby and resume walking along, taking out enemies on the ground as you do so. You may want to take a detour along the way on the first ladder you spot to grab some score bonuses. Once you hit the end with a high wall, backtrack left a little bit to climb up a ladder. Head right and jump onto the wall, and then continue staying up while proceeding right. Down one corridor is a balloon. Grab it. Move left until you get to the left edge of the corridor, and hop onto the nearby platform. Press down to crouch, then the B button to release the balloon without dumping it over the platform. Use the balloon a couple of times to build up enough bounce for a jump to a platform right above you, then hop off to the right. Get past a fly and skeleton enemy for another crate, and use it to take both of them out. Climb the ladder with crate still in hand, and then walk left. Once solid space runs out, you will need to hop over several consecutive platforms, slowly going up while dealing with a few fly enemies, then coming back down onto solid ground with some slithering snake foes. Toss your crate as you need to to eliminate the monsters until you hit the level end warp. Level Four Part Two ------------------- [L4V2] Go right from the start to pick up a balloon. Drop the balloon a little to the left from where the second spike bed is, and jump until you get your fourth and highest jump and hop off to the right. Drop down and jump over a skeleton and make your way to a ladder at the right end. From the bottom of the ladder, go down until you drop to the right side of a spike, then press against the right wall to reveal a hidden passage. Crawl through and then run along, grabbing the crate to take out the myriad monsters infesting the hallway. At the end, climb up the ladder. Press against the right wall here and jump to activate a hidden ladder. Climb up to the top while waiting for the flies to move away from you to enter the level warp at the top. Level Five Part One ------------------- [L5V1] Walk through the ground floor of the level and keep track of all the balloons that you see. Grab the first crate that you see and use it to waylay all the enemies that you find on your way until you hit the third balloon on the ground. Grab the balloon, and drop it on the right edge of the building in the background. Hop up several times to trigger a ladder that will appear from the bottom up. Backtrack left until you find another balloon, and bring it over to where the newfound ladder is. Go up to the top of the ladder, and drop it down on the roof. Head back down the ladder and get the second balloon. Carry it up and jump on the first balloon while carrying the second one to bounce up higher onto another section of rooftop. Crouch and drop the balloon you are now carrying and bounce off of it to go up higher still and find the level end point. When bouncing, you may need to move to the left or right as there is a part of the ceiling that will block you from jumping up to the roof. Level Five Part Two ------------------- [L5V2] Crouch to start the stage and crawl underneath the three man-eating plants, then continue along the pipework while crouching to sneak past a guard. Stop shy of the next plant for part of the pipe to extend up and carry you skyward. Do not hop off until it has carried you all the way to the top of the screen, then jump off. Run left and jump as often as you can to grab score bonuses while still avoiding the flies - if you stay on the ground too long, pipework will start to crumble underneath you. Once you have made it to the left side, turn around and go right all the way to the end of the pipework, then allow it to collapse underneath you. Once you fall down, continue right a bit past one final guard to get to the level end point. Level Six Part One ------------------ [L6V1] Start by walking right, and crouch when you see a bullet coming for you. Leap over the kid at the end, then continue until you get to a ladder. Take the ladder up and go left for a crate. Next, head right to the right panel of the platform and wait for a pillar to sprout, carrying you skywards. Now, shuffle around to trigger a floor to appear going left. Grab oodles of bonuses, using your crate to take out a pair of enemies to make the looting process easier. Take your crate in hand and run right and jump off the end to a house below. Use your crate to defeat any enemies in your way, then continue on right to a second house. Here, use the ladders to climb up to the rooftop. Use your crate to take out the tiger prowling around, then climb up the last ladder before moving right past a final kid and onto the level end point. Level Six Part Two ------------------ [L6V2] Go right and use a balloon to hop up, then grab the crate and some bonuses. Throw the crate up on top of the steel scaffolding and leap up behind it. Climb up the ladder and use the box to take out a bandit, then grab it again and run right and over a gap, using the crate once more to eliminate a prowling tiger. Head up a few more ladders to reach the top of the steel framework, taking out one last tiger in the process. Ditch your crate here and make a running leap to the right. Make another running leap to land on another building. Head straight forward from where you should approximately land, hopping over a kid sitting on the ground. Continue on jumping until you get to a third building. On this third and last building, head up to the second-highest flooring (not the rooftop). Go to the right end, hopping over a kid's head. This may be a bit tricky: jump up to touch the box on the rooftop and press B to grab it while in mid-air. Once you successfully have it, head to the right side of the kid's head, press down and then B to toss it at his head and knock him away. With the kid out of the way, go to the left end of the building, fall off, then immediately press right to go into the narrow corridor he was in. Walk all the way to the right end to finish the level and the game with it. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Donations/Amazon -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [DONT] I don't really care too much about donations, but if you are feeling generous, feel free to send one via PayPal to gammabetaalphafaqs AT gmail DOT com Alternatively, if you ever order any items from Amazon.com, go to the link below.
