Introduction ----------------- This is not a general FAQ for Drakan:The Ancients' Gates, but a listing of Weapons, armor and a few other items, with relevant information for each Item (Skill Level, Durability, Price, etc.). This guide is separated by Weapon type and armor, with hammer/mace/staff weapons together as 'blunt' weapons. Added 'vampiric' weapon info to weapons notes, as well as the hint for losing the dagger to open up another slot. You will notice under each weapon either a number in parentheses, or a location. The number in parentheses list the 'shop' this particular weapon may be purchased: (1) Surdana Blacksmith Shop; (2)Andrellian Isles; (3) Ravenshold; (4) Valley of the Fallen Blacksmith Shop; (5) Valley of the Fallen Windmill If the weapon is obtained in a manner other than purchase (from enemies or enemy areas), the area it can be obtained will be listed. ____________________________________________________________________________ IX. Some Weapons Notes ------------------------ Prices for items are the same in each place, with a few notable exceptions, those being high-level weapons available at the Windmill in the Valley of the Fallen. After opening the third gate, these weapons will become available at the Blacksmith Shop in Surdana, at a greatly reduced price! I have listed these weapons twice, listed the separate location and each Price. Additional items that are 'of the Order' are available in Surdana also at that time. If you obtain a weapon that is above your skill level, but you think you'll use it in the future, you can just drop it somewhere and it will stay there. +++Make sure you drop it in a place you can retrieve it again, though.+++ The best place is at a blacksmith shop (Surdana, and Ravenshold are good ones to use since you can get back to them. There is the option of selling any weapon to the blacksmiths if you need money, they will keep it in their list for you to buy back. If you notice, the old weapons and armor you sold back to them is available also so be careful the bow you're buying isn't an old one of yours left with only 210 arrows max. If you have been through an area and have run out of space to carry every- thing you want and need, go ahead and drop your armor. That has saved me more than once, since I've sometimes gone into areas that cannot be re-visted, with weapons I really like that were obtained from previous enemies and are irreplaceable. I just end up dropping my armor, and it opens up four slots, enough to carry any additional trophies back to, ummm, civilization. I can then just buy new armor without having lost any valuable weaponry. The Chicken - a weapon that occasionally shows up in a shop, any shop at any time, it seems. I haven't come across one as yet, but am still hoping. AP = Armor Piercing. For enemies with armor, a weapon with a lower damage rating is preferable if it is armor piercing. In other words, you will do more damage with a bow having 9AP than a bow with 11. Repair - Your weapon durability will run down with use until it runs down to zero and unusable until repaired at one of the shops. Each time a weapon is repaired, maximum durability will decrease, or amount of arrows will decrease, or maximum amount of protection will decrease depending on the type of equipment. Popular strategy is to let your weapons run down to almost nothing before repairing, this way you ultimately get the most use out of them. Weapons with special attacks, as in the earth, fire, lightening, etc. blades, have ten special attacks available by pressing the circle button. Once these special attacks have been discharged, the weapon can then be used to parry. The 'ultimate weapon' has been discovered...the Mournbringer Sword. It becomes available when you have obtained all four elemental swords. Once you have them all, return to the Surdana Blacksmith and he will have it offered for sale in his inventory. Have fun with it! Arrow Effects - that information still to come. 'Vampiric' weaponry - I'm going to use Zauron's terminology to be consistent with his excellent faq. This will describe weapons that restore your Exp to varying degrees. There are vampiric weapons that can carry you through every level. (The Tick Sword, Skeletal Touch Sword, Demise Bow, Disembowler Axe, Mournbringer Sword) OPENING UP A SLOT - At one point in the game (you'll know when you get to it) you will have to pick up all your weapons and items. To open up a slot, simple do not pick up Rynn's Dagger...leave it on the ground. To do this, make sure you pick up your weapons by walking over them instead of using the shortcut. ____________________________________________________________________________ III. Version History ---------------------- 0.9 April 23, 2002 Added weaponry - Dragonstrike bow, crown of thorns, mournbringer, flameburst bow, tempest sword, mithril scimitar, and added 'vampiric' to The Tick Sword Skeletal Touch Sword, Demise Bow and Disembowler. Added the Mystery of the Puzzle Stones section (I really want to know where those two missing stones are!). Added the weaponry to the other sections, revised weapons notes and acknowledgements section. 0.8 February 27, 2002 Finished Section V, the alpha list with location codes. Reminder to myself that the next game I play I need to get to archery 8 to try out all the bows to see what effects all the different arrows have. 0.7 February 27, 2002 Re-numbered and re-shuffled, changed format. Changed text format so I could select sections more easily. Changed the Acknowledgements section and added a paragraph about the ultimate weapon in the Weapons notes section. Things left to do: one more section to complete, continue playing game so I can get the ultimate weapon so I can add it to this faq. Still need to fill in a couple of blanks in the lists, too. 0.6 February 26, 2002 Re-shuffled the Armor section to reflect skill-level order. Couple of small spelling corrections...ugh, still in typo hell. Started on the Alpha List. added section VII, the total weapons list sorted only by skill level and damage, this way making it easy to see the weapons you have available at each skill level. 0.5 February 25, 2002 Completed yet another format check and spell check.
