He first served Zhang Miao, but he got into a fight with his roommates and ended up killing a dozen of them with his bare hands. After that he fled into the mountains where he chased wild Tigers for food, there he met Xiahou Dun, who introduced him to Lord Cao. Lord Cao wanted proof of Dian Wei’s strength, so the latter went out to the compound where the fierce wind was threatening to blow over a flag pole. While several soldiers were trying to keep it standing, Dian Wei shouted at the men to leave and used one hand to straighten the pole. Lord Cao was in awe of his strength and recruited Dian Wei into his army and placed him as Commander under Xiahou Dun . When Lord Cao led his troops against Lu Bu, Dian Wei simply scared away the troops by violently swinging his halberds . As a result Lord Cao appointed Dian Wei as the head of his personal guard. When Li Jue and Guo Si were fighting each other, Dian Wei followed Xiahou Dun as the vanguard party. Together with Cao Ren and Xu Chu, Dian Wei charged Li Jue’s army with only three hundred cavalry troops, and continued to do so until the main army arrived. For this he was appointed Commander of the Capital District. In the second year of Rebuilt Tranquility (AD 197), Lord Cao stayed in Wan castle, consorting with the wife of the late Zhang Ji, Lady Zhou. Zhang Xiu was enraged and together with Jia Xu he plotted to kill Lord Cao. However, because they feared Dian Wei’s strength, they weakened him with wine, stole his halberds, and night raided Lord Cao’s camp. Zhang Xiu torched Lord Cao’s camp and Dian Wei rushed out of his tent with a sword to see what was going on. Though he fought with bravery, Dian Wei had no armor or backup and was totally outnumbered by the enemy soldiers. Dian Wei died that night, and after learning of his death, Lord Cao wept bitterly. After Cao Pi became Emperor, Dian Wei was memorialized by the court and posthumously titled Lord of the Second rank. After his death, Lord Cao took custody over Dian Wei’s only son and honored him as a member of his own family. In Game Bio - A giant of a man often referred to as pure evil. Served as Cao Cao's personal body guard and was constantly by his side. After Zhang Xiu's night raid on Wan Castle, he alone stood before the enemy troops giving his life so that Cao Cao could escape. Although not said above, most people believe this about Dian Wei's death: During the night at Wan Castle, his weapons was stolen and was forced to use bare hands to fight off enemies to defend Cao Cao. While Cao Cao was escaping, Dian Wei fought against the enemies that tried to rush through the gate that leads to Cao Cao. It is rumored that he killed hundereds of enemies using enemy bodies as weapons. Finaly he was brought down by enemy archers. Even after he died, enemies would not go near Dian Wei because of pure fear of him. After Cao Cao escaped, Cao Cao said that the greatest lost at Wan Castle was not his son Cao Ang, but Dian Wei. Dian Wei was 37 when he died. 160 - 197 ------------- 3) Statistics -This is a starting level (Fresh) Dian Wei Life: High, not the highest but still very good. Musou: Not a lot but his musou is bad anyway so who cares? Attack: His greatest asset, one of the strongest in the game. Defense: Bad, but with high attack this can be expected. Speed: Slow, very slow amongst the slowest Reach: His weapon hits around him but not very far away Mounted Attack: Side to side attacks like most characters. Overall: - A guy to crush skulls in the name of fun. Crowd Clearing: OK, His musou is ok for this and his charges are good. Dueling: Combination of all the above stats and how good you are. -------------- 4) Moves - Square button (s) - Press it 6 times for a combo. It has horizontal and vertical slashes in it and ends with a jumping, spinning 360 degree swipe. Charge 1 - Triangle (t) - Dian Wei grabs the enemy and headbutts them into the ground. This move is high damage and unblockable. Although it only hits 1 person if your in a big crowd other enemies can get caught up in the headbutt. Charge 2 - s,t - The basic uppercut. Smashes them into the sky which can be followed up with more attacks. Charge 3 - s,s,t - Dian does a treble vertical hack 3 times (very fast!) and finishes with a knock-away move which hits lots of enemies. Charge 4 - s,s,s,t - Dian Wei thinks he's Zhu Rong and throws his axe like a boomerang in front of him. This is awesome for crowd cleaning. And with a good element your laughing. Charge 5 - s,s,s,s,t - He uses both hands on his axe and bashes the enemy into the air. If you press t again Dian Wei will bash them back down too! Charge 6 - s,s,s,s,s,t - A giant vertical energy wave flys out of his axe and into enemies in fornt of Dian Wei. Because of the wave being thin, it only generally hits one person. Still high damage though. Musou - Circle button when gauge is full - Dian Wei does repeated left to right slashes of his axe and ends with a giant 360 sweep of the area. True Musou - Circle when gauge is full and health is red - Dian Wei does the same as above apart from the fire element is added and their is some extra vertical slashes added near the end of the musou. Horse Attack - Usual slash right then left....yawn Horse Charge - Usual bigger slash right then left Air Strike - Just a slash from right to left in midair. Actually quite useful considering how bad Dian Wei is at jumping. TRY IT Air Charge - The usual jump up, slam weapon in ground attack. Taunt - (R3 button) ........rrrarragh Analysis of Moves - For Dian Wei, strength is your biggest asset. Use a variety of his move but mainly c1 c3 and c4. Musou for crowds and c3 for duels. He should always have a horse for transport because he is very slow. Always fight on the ground too, because his horse attacks are so average, they're boring. -------------- 5) Unlocking Dian Wei starts out selectable on DW4 XL ON DW4 you have to unlock him by clearing chapter 1 of Wei musou mode. In my personal favourite order 1. Ice - Slows em down to Dian Wei's speed. LoL 2. Fire - More damage is good 3. Lightning - Makes his c4 one of the best moves in the game 4. Vorpal - Natural Born Killer 5. Poison - Yawn 6. Blast - Bigger Yawn ----------- 10) Recommended Equipment Saddle: Use a horse saddle only. Any will do to get rid of Dian Wei's slow speed. Red Hare and Shadow are best. Orb: Ice Items: He only has 4 slots but i'll list some of the best. Tiger Amulet - Strength is king for Dian Wei Tortoise Amulet - Defence is very important too Peacock Urn - Makes his HP soar, almost goes across the screen! Speed Scroll - You MUST have this if no you have no horse. Wind Scroll - Increases range and therefore more dead people. Secret of Orbs - More elemental is good War Drum - Morale is important in long battles so use this. Power Rune - The best defence is to go on the offensive. Works well IMO. Herbal Remedy - Charge Attacks are good especially for Dian Wei. Elixer - Musou is good-ish ------------ 11) Dian Wei's legend This is a extra stage at the Wan Castle Under Construction ------------ 12) Thanks Thanks to gamefaqs.com for making this all possible.
