Introduction ============================================================================== I wrote this faq for three distinct reasons: Ichi - I made Fu Xi out of curiousity after maxing out Nu Wa, and found I like him better than other great sword using generals like Xiahou Dun (whose crowd control leaves something to be desired for me). Ni - No one else has written a faq on him yet, and I think that's a darn shame. San - I did Nu Wa's faq, so why not Fu Xi? So there you have it. Fu Xi never held much appeal for me in DW3, but I figured I might as well give him a shot in this game. ============================================================================== 2. History ============================================================================== Fu Xi was some kind of genius, or...gasp, a god?! Well, he started the use of fishing nets, silk worms (breeding them, that is) and taming wild animals for fun and profit. Apparently he also invented music, and most importantly, the eight tigrams (Pakua) said to be the basis of Chinese writing. He's also accredited with making up the one hundred Chinese family names and, of course, started marriage. He is the first of three noble emperors, the San Huang, in Chinese mythology. He ruled from 2952 BC to 2836 BC, which is over 115 years! He's represented as a human being with the body of a snake, and is married to Nu Wa, naturally. ============================================================================== 3. Why should I use him? ============================================================================== Pros -Great attack power -Good crowd clearer (even without a wind scroll, he's good) -Devastating charge rush Cons -Terrible starting defense. -Fairly slow attack speed (about as fast as Guan Yu, I think) -Slow running speed -Can't be used in Legend mode unless in a previously cleared scenario. There's not much not to like about Fu Xi. His defense can be overcome with a high-level tortoise amulet (and should, immediately!) Other than that, he's quite good at clearing crowds, and has a really snazzy "grab and smash" attack. He's basically the opposite of Nu Wa, in that he's great at clearing crowds and starts out much stronger, but his speed sucks and his starting defense means you'll be knocked around by the weakest peons till you level up a little. ============================================================================== 4. How do I create him? ============================================================================== Go to Edit Mode in the main menu and go to Officer Edit. His stats are as follows: Version 1 Gender: Male Name: Fu Xi Color: Red Head: Short Hair Chest: Armor Arms & Legs: Leather Guards Hip: Battle Garb Motion (weapon): Great Sword Version 2 Gender: Male Name: Fu Xi Color: Red Head: Short hair Armor: Chest plate Arms & Legs: Leather Guards Hip: Battle Garb Motion (weapon): Great Sword Dante Version Gender: Male Name: Fu Xi Color: Purple Head: Short Hair Chest: Battle Garb Arms & Legs: Leather Guards Hip: Battle Guard Motion (weapon): Great Sword And there you have it. He only gets one item slot to start (four max) but four's enough. By the way, the Dante version isn't very accurate, seeing as the color is purple rather than red, but the white hair and big sword should make up for it. ============================================================================== 5. Moves ============================================================================== T - I like to call this the "grab and smash." He will reach out and grab whoever's in reach, hold them up high, then spin around (hitting them with the sword in the process) and make a massive downward slash, knocking the poor shmo away. Just get a general up against a wall and keep doing this over and over and you'll both kill him and accumulate a boatload of weapon experience every time. ST - He will make an upward swing with his sword. Knocks people into the air. What more can I say, juggle attacks aren't that useful anymore... SST - He'll stab his sword forward, then twist around and do a spinning slash. Great move against generals surrounded by bodyguards. At higher levels, tapping T will let you do additional stabs, which are very powerful. Plus, the final slash will stun him/her, making it the perfect time to perform the good ol' "grab and smash!" SSST - Much like Nu Wa, he'll dash forward and slash his big sword, knocking away anyone in his path with great force. Put a lightning orb on him and he'll become a major crowd clearer. Put vorpal on him and he'll be a mass murderer. SSSST - A swing upward, followed by a jump and a downward slash if you tap T again. Like the first juggle, this one isn't much. The best way to use it is to follow up with a jump charge once you knock the enemy back to the ground. SSSSST - I call this one the "really weird what the heck is this guy doing?" move. Fu Xi will start out with some quick jabs straight ahead with his sword, then swing it back 180 degrees over his head and back behind him (for those annoying enemies sneaking up behind you). His third charge is better for crowds, though this is one nice move against a lone general. Musou - He will start off by swinging his sword in a circle, slowly at first, then picking up speed till it ends with a powerful slash. The last swing does massive damage and will flatten anyone it hits. The beginning of this move has some lag, so try to compensate by starting it a half-second earlier than normal. His true musou starts up faster. Horse Attack - Simple swings to the right and left with his sword, much like most characters. Nothing to write home about. Horse Charge - This one's fun. He'll make a really quick swing to the right, charge for a moment, then make another, more powerful swing. The only problem is he won't hit the same person twice, as the first swing will knock them out of range of the second. You still get weapon experience if you hit a general with the first swing, though. Dash Attack - He'll run forward and make a horizontal slash, making this move great for introducing yourself to crowds. Jump Attack - A swing downward. It's slower than most jump attacks, so obviously only use it if you must. Jump Charge - Fu Xi will wind up and slam his sword into the ground, knocking away anyone nearby. Counter Attack - I've always had a bit of a hard time pulling this off, but the best tip I can give is to hit T while guarding as soon as the enemy begins his swing. Fu Xi will do his third charge move and take a step forward with a left to right swing of his sword. If you can pull it off, great. If not, keep blocking. ============================================================================== 6. 10th and 11th Weapons ============================================================================== The levels and experience needed are as follows: Lv1 = 0 (Great Sword) Lv2 = 1000 Lv3 = 3000 Lv4 = 6000 (Crusher Sword, 5th hit earned) Lv5 = 10000 Lv6 = 15000 Lv7 = 21000 (Holy Avenger, 6th hit earned, final form of his normal weapon) Lv8 = 28000 Lv9 = 36000 Fu Xi's 10th weapon can be acquired thusly: -You must be on Hard difficulty -You must have his weapon at level 9 already -You must be playing the stage Yellow Turban Rebellion in Dynasty Warriors 4 This one is incredibly easy. Just kill all the generals. Sub-generals aren't required, though you might want to use Red Hare if you can, just in case your allies get uppity and kill a general for you. I highly recommend leaving bodyguards behind, as with a level 9 weapon, you're pretty much unstoppable, and you wouldn't want those bodyguards kill- stealing from you. Fu Xi's 11th weapon can be acquired thusly: -You must be on Expert difficulty -You must have his weapon at level 10 -You must be playing the He Fei map in Legend mode This one is...harder. Expert difficulty is one thing, but there's an order you have to follow, and it's not that easy. First of all, you have to rescue Sun Quan, which can be done by running into He Fei castle and slaughtering anything that moves until the game tells you Sun Quan is rescued. He'll retreat, and you'll follow. Rescue his two sub-officers along the way by the same method you used with Sun Quan, then move on. DON'T defeat Taishi Ci when he appears, and don't let Sun Quan run into him, or he'll get killed. Go to the other side of the lake and rescue the final two sub-officers there. Kill Taishi Ci (finally), then when Liu Yong appears at the bottom of the map, kill him off. Finally, during all this, you must seal all the enemy gates and get 500 KO's. Simple, huh? ============================================================================== 7. Quotes ============================================================================== Accepting a Duel - "I accept your challenge!" Taunt - "All right! Let's go!" Musou - "Let's go!" True Musou - "This is it!" Anyone want to help me finish the rest, I'll credit them for it. ============================================================================== 8. Recommended Equipment ============================================================================== Fu Xi has a maximum of four item slots. My recommendations are as follows: Shadow Runner saddle (why anyone wouldn't choose this one is beyond me, but if you feel the need to use Red Hare or whatever, go ahead, I can't stop you.) Lightning orb to start, vorpal orb once you level up some Tortoise Amulet Tiger Amulet Wind Scroll/Speed Scroll The last item can be whatever you want, though I recommend the Seven Star Sash so peons will drop more powerups. I also recommend the Peacock Urn if it's at high levels (greater than 15) because you can never have too many hit points. Plus Fu Xi seems to have a naturally low defense, so either one would be useful (more restoratives, or more hits to start, it's your call). ============================================================================== 9. Credit ============================================================================== A lot of credit goes to Muni, as I took a good deal of information from his faq rather than reset my data and start from scratch. More as it comes. Also props to Rebel Templar, who posted version 2 of Fu Xi's look to the message boards. ============================================================================== 10.
