This is a great game and the need for some sort of strategy guide is a must for players trying to complete the game with everything. I generally don't write FAQs but if a game is released and has no type of guide I will take the time to write one provided that I have the game. One thing I will not do is repeat stuff that is in the instruction manual but I will instead give helpful tips. One thing that you must take note of is that you will earn more experience points by defeating enemies stronger than you are. While it seems like you would want to keep gaining levels to the highest level. You won't need to because in the game there is an item that can drop your level by 10 without a loss in stats. Every time you increase in level you will receive Master Points that are used to gain new Skills, Magic or Tech. A common mistake of players is that they allocate the points to certain Magic or Techs but they do not master it. Remember that you can't use abilities until they are mastered. The best way to go about this is to save your Master Points until you have enough to master abilities. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- | B. ~Battle Tactics~ | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The key to making the game easy is the ability to perform well in battle. Just playing the game you already know the basics but there are a few things that can help you in battle. I will talk about Skills, Magic and Techs. One other thing that you must know is that you can now use items in battle but you won't be able to save the game though. Saving can only be done at save spots and on the over world map by pressing start. =Skills= Having the right skills is essential because they will make the difference in battle. When deciding on what skills you want your character to have you must decide what type of character this person is going to be. If you are using a fighter, skills like Movement Up, Hit Up, Critical Hit, Doppelganger, and Attack Wait Down are very useful. Movement determines how fast your characters move across the map while ATW determines the waiting time after performing an attack. These skills are absolutely crucial to a fighter. A mage however is different. Mages need to cast many spells and some become costly. Some of the skills I have for my Yayoi who is a mage is Max MP Up, MP Cost Down, MP Range Up and Cooperation. Those are just the basics but you get the idea and it becomes more clear as you play the game. =Magic= Many enemies in the game are weak against something and Magic is the way to defeat them quickly. One type of magic that I talk about throughout the guide is Co-Op Magic. Co-Op magic is the art of casting two spells together to create a new one. I like using Co-Op magic because some combinations allow me to attack multiple enemies at once. This strategy works great during a number of battles in the game. Take a look at the Cooperation Magic Section for more Info. =Techs= Techs have their uses as well and some techs are better than others. The Techs that I suggest investing in are Dash, Bait, Critical Blow, Thievery and Psychic. These five are great for the fighters in your group but what if you're character is a mage? In that case I suggest Quicken Aria and Strengthen Magic. There are others and I haven't tried all of them but if you get the basic ones first you should be OK. Why is Psychic on the List? If you read through the techs and you are wondering what Psychic is good for, the answer is nothing, nothing that is until you are fighting a boss. When fighting an enemy that has a clear advantage in strength, Psychic is your best friend. Combined with the right defensive skills and gems you can make you're character nearly un-hittable. Psychic predicts what the enemy is going to do and raises your ability to dodge or block Physical Attacks from that enemy greatly. The good thing about it is that it lasts for a while. If your thinking of taking out difficult enemies, then this is your skill. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- | C. ~Gems and Rings~ | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Gems and Rings are probably the most important aspect of the game because they ultimately determine how good your characters are. The first thing is Rings. Although the characters use a Ring Weapon in the game, you can find different types of Rings. Each ring that you find can hold three gems and different Rings have different stats. When finding a new ring, it's best to look at the gem levels and then the stats. Here is an example of a ring. God Hero Alfeil 9 9 9 MHP +40 ATK +26 MMP +20 DEF +26 STR 0 MOV +30 INT 0 HIT +45 DEX 0 ATW -18 On each ring you will see the name of the ring. The higher the rank the better stats will be. Below that are the gem slots. When equipping a gem the level of the gem cannot exceed the level of the gem slot. If it does the gem will be useless. One other thing that you must do when collecting rings is to sell the useless ones. It doesn't do any good to have a bunch of useless rings in your inventory. To find more rings, defeat enemies quickly. The faster you defeat an enemy the more likely you are to get a ring. Also if the enemy is a lot stronger than you may get an even better ring. Now that you know about Rings you should also know about gems. Different Gems can give you different abilities. When deciding which gem to equip make sure that you choose one that compliments your character. If you combine certain rings together you may get some great results. I haven't tried every combination, that will be up to you to discover but a good one to have if you are going for power is Lv7 Epiphany and Lv7 Vampire. These two work great together because you increase your damage greatly but you don't suffer the penalty of being hurt. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- | D. ~Unexpected Battles~ | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- An unexpected battle can occur any time while walking around the world map. This is a good way to increase your levels and obtain items. When an unexpected battle occurs, there are three possibilities. Normal Battle - This means that everyone starts out equal. This type of unexpected battle occurs most of the time. Attack Advantage - This is when your characters can attack first but the enemy has to wait. This is the best situation in battle. Rear Attack - This is the worst situation because your characters must wait a little bit before they can react. If this happens you must decide whether to fight or flee depending on the situation. Siege Attack - Your characters are completely surrounded in this type of battle, meaning that you must fight your way through. If you have a technique like Perimeter Pulse, you can take out the enemies quickly. In addition to these situations other special situations occur that can net you some cash, gems, or items. They are a treasure chest, Silm and Merchant. Treasure Chest - A treasure chest is on the battlefield and during the battle you can take the treasure chest but more than likely the enemy will steal it. If that happens chase it down and kill it to get the item. Silm - This is a small creature that you'll find on the battlefield. It is not an enemy but other monsters on the field can kill it. If you can save it you will receive something good. Merchant - You may run into a merchant that is being attacked by monsters. The goal is to protect his animals. If you can do this successfully the merchant will sell you stuff at a discounted price. This is a good way to get Armor below cost. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- | E. ~Cooperation Magic~ | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Cooperation Magic is probably one of the most neglected aspects due to the fact that some players like to go through the game using shear power. To use Cooperation Magic you must first speak to the Doctor at the Federation Outpost before guiding the Transport. He will tell you the basics of Co-Op magic. To use Co-Op in battle, two spells of different types must be cast together and both characters casting the spells must have learned the skill "Cooperation". Even though you may know all of the combinations, they cannot be used until the Doctor has taught them to you. One drawback to using Co-Op is that it will drain your MP. Make sure that if this is your strategy, Characters with high MP are being used. - Determining the Level of a Co-OP spell To determine the power of a spell being used it's simple. If the magic being cast is the same for both characters then the levels are added together. If the types of spells are different then the level is averaged. Knowing this makes it really easy to achieve higher-level spells in less than half of the time. Example ======= If you wanted to defeat an enemy that was highly susceptible to fire and had two characters with Level 3 Fire Arrows, you could have them both cast level 3 and use Co-Op to get a level 6. Cooperation Combinations ========================= Stone Shot + Fire Arrows = Eruption Stone Shot + Ice Barrage = Sandstorm Stone Shot + Wind Cutter = Thunder Fire Arrows + Ice Barrage = Soul Force Fire Arrows + Wind Cutter = Fireball Ice Barrage + Wind Cutter = Blizzard Wind Cutter + Magic Vortex = Absorb Wind Cutter + Holy Flame = Holy Cross Wind Cutter + Death = Death Clouds Blast + Stone Shot = Quake Blast + Fire Arrows = Meteor Blast + Ice Barrage = Thunder Storm Blast + Wind Cutter = Tornado =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- | F. ~Research and Development~ | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Once you have Viktor in your party you can have him make new items for a fee. Some of the items won't be available in the shops and as his knowledge grows the number of possible items does as well depending on what you have done in the game. The general rule about getting items made is that Viktor must be in the lab. If you take Viktor out then he will not work on anything. Once you have selected an item to be made, go out on a mission. When you return from the mission it will be ready. If you are playing the game and you say "Wow, Viktor is awesome" and you like using him, don't do it unless of course there isn't a new item to be made. Below is a list of Viktor's Accomplishments... The excavator is used to reach Fox-Tail Village. *** The Space-Time Summon Device is used to Import Growlanser II characters. You need the Mind Induction Crystal that can be found in Lindenberg when you repair its Transfer Gate and the Power Stone, which is gotten by completing the Free Battle 4 on 4 in the arena at the Master Class A Rank. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- | G. ~Remington Detective Agency~ | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- This is the place that you go to see what major event you need to complete. These appear as the story progresses so just speak to Remington after you do something. There are two people in the Agency and the second is Remington's Assistant. If Slayn comes alone you will receive Off-Sheet Reports. They are separate investigations that Slayn can take care of. Walkthrough ****************************************************************************** =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- | 01 ~Prologue~ | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The Game begins inside of a cabin; a young lady is tending to a sick boy. When the boy awakens he is sort of scolded by the young girl about why he was in an area infested with monsters. The boy's response is... - Where did I collapse? - Who are you? - Who am I? - Where is this? - ... I don't know how this affects the story but after you answer, she will tell you to think hard and ask, "can't you even recall your name?" - I'll try to remember - I can't remember Whatever your response is will get you to the name selection screen. You will be given the name of Slayn Wilder. Choose your blood type and Astrological Sign. While the Blood Type affects the personality of your character the astrological sign determines your starting stats. The girl will introduce herself as Annette Burns, daughter of the Xironia Federation President. After her uncle and his assistant speak to Annette about the current situation in the area, the three will leave and you will have control of Slayn. If you played through Growlanser II then the first thing that you will notice is that you can walk around and explore. There is nothing here so exit the cabin. Outside Renault will ask what you're doing and will tell you that Aggressival Troops will attack. Slayn's response is... - Aggressival? - They will attack? - I can protect myself! - I'd rather fight than sleep. Shortly after the Aggressival Troops will attack. This is the first battle in the game, sort of a trial by fire for Slayn. Unfortunately this is an unwinnable battle. After watching the intro, two months will pass and you will take over as Slayn at the Xironia Federation Outpost. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- | 02 ~Xironia Federation Outpost~ | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Now that you have control of Slayn it's time to explore the area. Renault will come up the ladder to relieve you of your guard duty. Speak to Renault and he will ask if you think it's you're fault that he's injured. - Yes - No When you approach the ladder Annette will greet you. It seems like you were imagining things. Speak to the Guard and the guard will tell you that everything's fine but all hell could break loose. Slayn can respond... - Stay on Guard - Relax - Good Job After talking to the guard speak to Annette and she will ask if Renault was here. Of course she can't believe it but Slayn will say... - What's wrong? - Are you calling me a liar? - ... You should now have control of Slayn and Annette. You can search objects, climb ladders and speak to people by pressing the X button. Climb down the ladder when you reach the bottom you will notice a strange circle. Step on the circle and press the X button to go to the save screen. The game can only be saved at one of these circles but if you are on the world map then you can save anywhere. If you speak to the guard you can tell him what you thought about his explanation. - It was very helpful! - It didn't seem very helpful... - That's all you learned in life? Ouch. Speak with the old man in yellow and he will tell you about how he hates what Aggressival is doing and the next time he will use his Ring Weapon to punish them. Slayn responds... - I'm counting on you then - Don't be a burden to us - Please don't work too hard A young girl with a purple dress and a purple ribbon in her hair is walking around. She complains about how Aggressival is attacking off and on. Slayn's response is... - Leave them to me! - I cannot help... - I wish I could do away with your worry. - I understand what he thinks, then. The final person is looking out toward Aggressival thinking about how unlucky they are. Slayn can respond with... - That is not a license to pillage from us! - We should share our bounty, then. - Their trouble is not our concern. - They were certainly unlucky. After speaking to everyone leave town. Annette will leave you temporarily so just head to the east to reach the town. About a third of the way there you will find yourself at an opening that shows a scene with a young girl looking for Lobelika Root. After the scene run along the bottom right but don't touch the edge of the screen. The Assassin will strike down the girl first. After seeing you the Assassin makes you the next target. Begin to cast Fire Arrows and select Wait if you have 8 MP or cast it on the Assassin if your MP is 10 since you will be able to cast the magic at least three times. The Assassin will hit you once and then a Bandit will come out to steal the girl's belongings. Use Fire Arrows twice on the bandit and then attack the Assassin with your sword. After the last blow is struck you will have 5 options. - I won't forgive evil men! - That was but a taste of my strength! - Did it...? - It was no problem! - You'll die at once! You will receive a Recovery Medicine and after the fight the girl will begin to walk away. Make sure that you speak to her otherwise you will miss out on events later in the game. She will give you the Thief's Button and the Small Key Pendant. Afterwards Annette will come walking around. After she speaks about the past some new options will be available. Depending on what you have done or how your character has acted in the game, some of these choices may be grayed out. - Yeah... - I'm so grateful - What would have happened to me without you? - I thought you were an Angel that day. - Why do you talk to me like a family pet? After deciding you will be in control of both characters. Travel east along the map to reach Voltone City. You can ignore the cave to the north for the time being. On your Way to Voltone City get into at least one Random battle so that you can raise your level. You only get one Master point right now on level up but that's enough to learn the magic of Cure. ***************** Tasks ***************** - Find the Thief =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- | 03 ~Voltone City~ | =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- **************** **************** | Armor Shop | | Item Shop | **************** **************** Clothes 1 STR 30 Elm Recovery Medicine 8 Elm Heavy Clothes 4 STR 80 Elm Antidote Herb 6 Elm When you arrive in the city, take some time to look around. Avoid the mansion up the stairs and explore a bit. The mansion is the next place that you'll go to advance the story. Explore this part of the city by talking to everyone and visiting houses. The shop is in this part of the city as well. To the east of the shop is another part of the city. An arena is being built to the east and just near the house for rent is a Fortune-Teller and the entrance to the Remington Detective Agency. Speak to the Fortune-Teller and he will tell Slayn to come back alone. Enter the mansion and Annette will leave temporarily After she leaves go to the room on the left to read the report and then return to the fortuneteller. After the Fortune-Teller tells you your fortune, three kids with horns come running up. After they speak Slayn can respond... - Why do you have horns? (Choose) - What special power? - ... Now you must take the challenges of the children to increase your abilities. First speak to Hob. Hob can give you strength. He will test your might by having you try to push him back. To do that, press the X button as fast as you can. You will get a Mission Complete if you can push him back before the timer reaches 5. Next speak to Wize. Wize will test your Intelligence with a series of questions. Question #1 What is the cause of the Famine? - Population Increase. - Poor harvest due to the sun. (Correct) - Devastated farms due to the war. - Decrease in working population. Question #2 Why is Schelfengrif Empire fighting a Civil War? - Dispute over royal succession. (Correct) - Civilian unrest. - Military unrest. - Royal unrest. Question #3 Who is President of the Xironia Federation? - Belger. - Barns. - Slayn. - Burns. (Correct) Question #4 How do you equip a ring? - Equip command. - Automagically. - When gaining levels. - At a Ring Shop. (Correct) Question #5 How do you escape from monsters you encounter? - Move party to edge of map. - Move Slayn to edge of map. - Move the leader to edge of map. (Correct) - Move multiple characters to edge of map. The final test is one of agility, speak to Winkle to get this one started. The three will run around and you must speak to them with the X button. Winkle is very difficult to catch so get the other two first and then him. After the three trials are concluded the Fortune-Teller will ask you what your best combat style is. - Weapon Combat - Magic Combat - Varied Combat After the test to determine your stats, return to the mansion and explore it a bit before continuing with the game. Go upstairs and talk to Troop Chief Marshal who will tell you that you must take care of Annette now. Slayn responds... - I understand. (Choose) - ... - "Lady" Annette? To the left in one of the doors is Annette's Room. When she comes out she will suggest looking around town. Depending on what you have done already these are the possible choices. - Already done. - What's the report about? - What is the meeting for? - I've never been much for studying... - Show me around town! After you are finished, rest up in your bed. After you are woken up go upstairs to President Burns' Office. After explaining the plan Slayn responds with... - Count on me! * - Yes, Sir! * - ...if you say so. - It's none of my business. - I will guard her with my life! - Well, I can try, buuut... When you attempt to leave she will thank you for waiting. Slayn will respond in these ways... - What took you so long? - You were faster than I expected. - ... * - You're going out like that? Once you have left the city go south toward the bridge. After ward Annette leaves to get a permit to the South Gate. In the meantime you can do some exploring around the town. Go to the right and you will find a ghost. He will give you a letter to deliver to a girl named Mary. The ghost will disappear and leave the item Letter to Mary. Raimy will go with you just to make sure that it gets to it's destination. Save at the inn and then go south to Southern Schwartzhaas. The second house down is Kenneth's house. He will tell you about his son in the defense force and then go to the South Gate if you would like to advance the story. A girl walking around will ask you where you are from. You can answer in the following ways. - Xironia Federation - Rolandia Kingdom - Falkenfreuk City When you go to East Schwartzhaas, you will find the Ring Shop and the shop that sells gems. At the Ring Shop the lady will ask you if you would like to read her book about rings. Say yes because if you read it you will receive the gem Lv2 Blood Blade. The other Ring Shop sells Gems. If you were out saving Silms then you may already have some of the gems that are for sale. After crossing the bridge you will witness a scene with a Featherian. Talk to the nearby man and Raimy will provide her input. When she asks about why the girl can't fly Slayn responds... - Maybe she's sick? * - She's just exercising her legs? - Her wings are too small? - It's none of our business. Go to the house farther right and the person inside will tell you about the Battle Timer. Unfortunately you won't be able to get it until you go to Bibliostock to get a China Vase to exchange for one. Just keep that in mind for later. Finally go to the gate to the East and you will witness a scene with an Impatient Man. Go to the gate and Annette will be waiting for you. Speak to Annette and Raimy will speak to you. After answering Annette will think you're odd and Raimy will remind you that she is invisible and that most people can't see her. Afterward explore the town. The Inn that you see at the town entrance is actually closed and just past the Ring Shop that is sold out is the Grewn Hospital. There is nothing to do there now but remember to come by later. At the end of the path, go up the stairs toward the castle. If you try to go to the castle, Annette will stop you and request that you stop so that she can get into formal attire. You can say yes or decline. Near the entrance to the hotel you can see something shimmering on the ground. Pick it up and it will be a Silver Bell. Once inside of the hotel Annette will ask for two single rooms. Slayn can respond by saying... - One twin room is fine. - One must be the royal suite. - ... After Annette leaves to get changed Raimy complains that Annette is taking way too long. While you wait you can speak to the Fortune-Teller. The Fortune- Teller will either tell you about Character or Relationship. When you try to leave Annette will come out in a different dress. Slayn responds by saying... - I was stunned by your beauty! - I didn't even recognize you. - You're like another person. - ...I can't see your legs! - This isn't like you! - This is scandalous! After leaving the hotel, go to the right and to the castle. When you get there only Annette is allowed to enter leaving Slayn on his own. Now that she is gone you can deliver the letter to Mary. Mary is located near the closed inn at the entrance of town. To use the letter, stand in front of Mary within speaking range, go into the items and select the letter. When she says something about the letter, respond by saying... - A sick man gave it to me. (Choose) - I happened upon it by chance. - ... Mary will read the letter and then decide that she has nothing to live for. Slayn can... - Urge her not to give up! (Choose) - Take the letter. - Refuse the letter. After urging her not to give up she will give you back the letter that is now called Letter of the New World. With that task completed Raimy will be happy that your task is done but will also sense that you have received another Memento with a promise. The Valuable Items screen will come up and you must choose the item. Choosing either the Thief's Button or the Small Key Pendant will make Raimy happy. After that Raimy will leave. Return to the hotel and two guards will stop you. Seems like a case of mistaken identity. After the guards leave a strange man will speak to you and will tell you that he will speak to you later in private. There is nothing more to do now so just rest in your room. After a bad dream, you wake up and Raimy is there. She asks if you are alright. - I'm fine, thank you Raimy. - Thank you for waking me. - W...why are you...? After answering her first question, she will respond and then you will say... - But really, why are you back? - Did you forget something? - SO, you missed me? After, Raimy will ask to join you. Don't bother saying no because she won't take no for an answer. After you awaken it will be the next morning and Annette will be waiting for you. Show her the letter of the New World and she will suggest that you investigate further and to go southeast of Schwartzhaas. Leave the city an go back to Schwartzhaas. Go to the house on the right and knock on the door. A man who has lost his Silver Bell is looking for it. Show him the bell and he will give you the China Vase. Take the path from the western part of town and you will arrive at the Imperial Library. When you arrive you will see an impatient man trying to get inside. After the man leaves go to the main part of town and speak to a man near the top with gray hair and he will tell you that Rolandia's tunnel is closed and that all questions must be aimed toward Sir Granford's manservant. In the northern part of town and you will see the Impatient Man trying to get into the mansion for an audience with Sir Granford. After failing again the man stands near the fountain flustered. Talk to the butler yourself and he will allow you passage. Once you turn toward the fountain the impatient man will ask to join you. You can't refuse no matter what so just agree to let him join. You now have Hugh in your party. Below the fountain is a man walking around. Speak to him and he will sell you an Art Kit for 50 Elm. Take them and go to the east part of the main portion of the city. An old man will be standing at the pier. If you return to him later then he will give you a good art tip. Now that you are finished here, exit the city and return to Schwartzhaas to get the Battle Timer. Exit the city and go south of Bibliostock to reach Bornia. A soon as you enter town a bunch of soldiers will be witnessed stealing from the townsfolk. You can... - Teach them a lesson now! - Check equipment , then confront them. - Pretend it's none of our business. Sneak around the buildings and when the commander asks what you are respond... - Put back what you've taken! - (glare at him) - Yeah, wanderers. To do that, have both Annette and Slayn use Dash and make a path that goes for the Commander. Once they reach the Commander they can double-team him while his subordinates beat up on your characters. The other soldiers aren't that high leveled so you should be fine for a bit. If Annette or Slayn is injured have Hugh heal them. Sometime during the battle a soldier named Orpheus will appear to finish the Commander. Having Slayn and Annette on the right and left will cause Orpheus to come from the bottom of the village. Your group returns the stolen items and as a reward the villagers give you a Leather Suit. Talk to the villager with a hat and he will tell you about Monika. Slayn responds... - Monika? - She can use magic? - What's she like? - Is she cute? Talk to the girl at the closed shop and she will ask if Orpheus was there. Say yes and she will tell you something interesting. Go to the northern part of town. Visit a house to the north below the northernmost one to see Monika. She will talk about the Space-Time Fusion Project. Slayn responds... - But what is Space-Time Fusion? * - Will it really save people? - Can you take us to the research site? She agrees if you will stop by Michelle's house on the way out of the village. Slayn responds by saying... - All right! * - No problem. - I don't think so. You just stay here. After that Monika will join your party. Michelle's house is near the shop. Knock on the door and the butler will let you inside. The house looks bigger on the inside than you would think. When introducing yourself you can choose the Normal Introduction or No Introduction. Since you've never met the normal one should be good enough. When you get control of Slayn, Michelle will tell you how she feels and Slayn can respond... - I'm so sorry. * - On display? - I can see what you mean. - Why don't you find a way to leave? Speak to her again and she will tell you that she has guests so rarely and ask what you would like to talk about. - Does your family live here, too? - I saw your brother. * - ... Talk to Michelle some more and once Monika returns it's time to leave. It's now time to head to the Mt. Regen Border Tunnel. A lot of the enemies in that tunnel are susceptible to fire so you may want to equip a Flame Weapon or Holy Weapon Gem onto your rings to make the battles inside easier. Regen Border Tunnel the guards will have already been notified that you are on your way. After the guard opens the door to the cave enter inside and the party will be appalled at what they find inside. Slayn will see a ghost in the corner. Inside of the cave you will find a total of four ghosts. Speak to them all and you will return them to the cycle of life. There is a door that exits to the northeast, approach it and a ghost will appear. He won't let you by until you have your friends with you but he will tell you about a gift he wants you to have. Check the southern portion of the room and you will find a Lv4 Magic Lv gem. When you're ready to leave speak to Annette and the journey will continue. With your entire party back together you can now continue deeper into the tunnel. Go into the next room and down the stairs to B1. The first thing that you notice is that monsters are walking around. They will not attack until you are in sight of them. Normally dungeons have a random nature to them but this one is set. 1. Take the southwest exit into the next room and then go southeast to reach a room with a treasure chest. 2. Return to where you started B1 and follow the map until you reach your first three-way. Go southeast where you will reach a room that contains another treasure chest. 3. After getting the chest return to the three-way and follow the cave rooms to the southwest. You will eventually reach another set of stairs. Use them and you will find yourself back on floor 1F. Exit the tunnel and you will be in Rolandia. Once you are in Rolandia you must go to the east past the mountain and then south toward the ocean. You will eventually reach a small peninsula with a device that looks similar to the one s that you have seen at the entrance of various towns. These are called Transfer Gates and this one will transfer you to Featheria Isle. If you travel directly south and then around the mountain to the east, Monika will say that you shouldn't stray too far. Slay responds... - You're right. - We should be careful. - Don't worry. Once you arrive at the Transfer Gate Hugh will say something rude to Monika. Slayn has many options of how to respond. After answering your party will heal to full automatically. - Don't worry about what he said. - You'll be a beautiful lady soon. - You'll fly soon enough... - Hey! When you arrive at the top someone is stealing the Space-Time Crystal. Start by having Slayn, Annette and Hugh rush toward the two armored soldiers while avoiding attacking the Defensive corps and have Monika cast Cure. Once the Mysterious Woman leaves you will not have to worry about killing the Defensive Corps anymore. To get a Mission Complete, your party members must deal the final blow to the soldiers. After the battle the Featherian will report to the Queen. Use the Transfer Gate to return to the entrance then take the Transfer Gate to the Control Center. When you emerge from the gate speak to the old Featherian operating the console on the right. As soon as you go to the left the Featherian Queen will speak about an alternate crystal. Speak to the Queen and you will volunteer to retrieve the crystal. It is located in a mine in the north of Rolandia. You will receive the Start Pendant so that you can travel to the mine whenever you wish. Talk to Monika's Grandfather again and you will see a scene with her and Hugh. Return to the Transfer Gate that brought you to Featheria Isle and you will be met by a Featherian that seems to know Monika. After he speaks, Slayn responds... - Are you alright? * - What was that about? - ... Your goal on each floor is to find the stairs that lead down. Just look at your map to see which way each room exits. You may find the exit quickly but that doesn't mean that you should take it. Some of the floors in the mine have treasure chests. When you reach your first one, Raimy will point it out and explain that once you leave floor then the treasure chest will disappear. Once you reach floor B5, save your game and in the last room with the arrow signs, grab the Fire Scroll in the chest to the right. In the back of the cave on floor B5 is the Time Crystal Ore. Stand near the glowing rocks and press the X button to pick it up. To make this battle easier, equip the Lv4 Dispel gem on everyone except for one person. On the way out you will be confronted by a Mysterious Man and some troops. If you want to take out the Mysterious Man and finish the mission your best bet is to stick with magic. Annette started out by using Dash and attacked the soldier on the left. The other three characters used magic the entire time taking out the Monk first so that he won't heal anyone and then they went after the Mysterious Man. When the soldier that Annette didn't go after gets near Slayn, have Slayn kill him as fast as possible and continue to cast magic spells at the man. Annette after she has taken care of her soldier should make her way to the left and kill one of the Magicians. After that she needs to see what the Mysterious Man is doing and move away from him. When the Mysterious Man gets close too your party it is time to use Bait. This is great because he will abandon his objective and go after Annette. If he gets too close remember that you still have Dash. While being chased, Annette should finish off the other two magicians. The Mysterious Man has 750 HP so you will need something more than magic to deal all of that damage. I had Hugh follow and attack. As long as Bait is in effect, he will not attack. The only attack that he will do is the Penetration Attack but to have him do that two characters would need to be in a line. Defeating him this early earned me a ton of experience points and got me a very nice ring. After leaving the area with the ore the group talks about their adversary and suspects that he is the one responsible. Slayn's response is... - Hmmm. That's a troublesome revelation. - He won't be allowed to succeed. * - I'd like to see what he has in mind. - Who's Zion? - Why is he bothering with us? It's a fairly easy battle to win but make sure that your team is the one that gets all of the kills. Vincent can't get a kill in this fight. After the battle speak to Monika. After speaking to Monika talk to Vincent or Orpheus and when he thanks you for saving the village say... - Piece of cake. - No problem. - Don't mention it! - I did it for Monika. - It was such a pain. - What can I say? She will take you to her room and attempt to awaken Slayn's memories. After he awakens Hugh will ask if you remembered what happened. You can say... - Yes - No Hugh will explain about Spirit Masters and then will explain everything to you. After Raimy explains about a Dark Spirit Master and Hugh comments, Yayoi says... - Sorry... - I know that. - Yeah, thanks a lot. - Wonderful. - Leave me alone! To rearrange your party speak to the gentlemen at the entrance. =================== The Lab =================== First show Viktor to the lab so that he can get started on his work (whatever it is). Viktor will leave the party now. If you would like to use Viktor then you need to rearrange your party since only four members can be used at a given time. Speak to Viktor and he will tell you about developing new items. An explanation of items will be shown to you afterward and then you will be able to start creating. One thing that you must take note of is that when Viktor is out of the lab, research comes to a halt. Here are the Items that Victor will create initially. Monika is in room 104, Hugh is in 103, Annette is in 102 and Slayn is in 101. After dropping all of the characters off in their rooms Slayn will be alone. If you haven't done so yet, visit the shop area or the Remington Detective Agency. =================== The Shop Area =================== In this area there will be various shops and a kitchen. Right now there is only the Ring Shop. The Ring Shop sells various gems levels 1-3 but as the game progresses the inventory in the shop will change. The kitchen is another interesting place because while you can heal your entire party for 1 Elm a person, there is a special menu that only Slayn can access when he's alone. If you eat these more than two or three times the effects may not happen so just eat in moderation. A special character-enhancing dish costs 500 Elm. After answering, Remington will tell you about Agent Report Files. These files can be read at any time and give you information about what's going on in the world. There are also "off sheet" reports that deal with other information but require a fee to read. The only way to get these is to come alone so make sure that whenever Slayn is alone you come here. If you speak to Remington again he will give you some new information about Sir Granford's son in Bibliostock. When you have the time make sure to investigate the rumors. Talk to Rudgker about off-sheet information and select I have a request. Off-Sheet Information --------------------- Assassin named Randolf 50 Elm Assassin named Gray 80 Elm ============================== Building Relationships ============================== This is the first time that you get to really build a relationship with your characters. By going to the room of one of your characters you can go out to eat with them. Who you choose first makes a difference in how the other party members will view you. Not speaking to them at all will surely hurt how they feel about you. If you choose Monika she will comment about the food and Slayn will respond... - It's because of the time. - The Federation supplies are low. - Word of mouth is sometimes wrong. (Choose) If you choose Hugh, he will mention that he has his own situation to deal with and you can respond... - Situation? - That's all right. (Choose) If you choose Annette, she will ask Slayn if he thinks the others are all right in the new world. Your responses are... - Probably. (Choose) - I don't know. - It will be a hard life. After selecting one of these three, speak to the other two and don't forget that the order that you speak to them says a lot. There will be other relationship building opportunities through out the game so make sure you speak to a different person first when you have the opportunity. After you are finished doing everything, go to Slayn's bed and rest. Following the scene at night it will be morning and the rest of the party will already be at the President's Mansion in the meeting room. Go there to receive the details about your next mission. The mission is to guide the supply transport safely through the mountains. Accept the mission the first time you are asked. Annette and Hugh will volunteer for the mission meaning that you must select one more person. Because Viktor needs to investigate the Transfer Gate, Monika will go along. If you return to Old Voltone then you can speak to the man at the entrance to dismiss your party. Once Slayn is alone speak to the Party members again one by one. Speak to Monika and she will ask what you are doing at that hour. Your responses are... - Just killing time. - I'm teasing you! - You did a good job today. (Choose) - It's not like you to speak like that. Talk to Hugh and a conversation with Raimy will take place. After you are done meeting with your Party Members, return to the man at the entrance and he will have a new option, "Race Someone". This is a little mini- game that you can play to get some extra Elm. To play you must first select a challenger. After the challenger is selected the man will tell you about them and give you some odds. Apparently the opponent isn't restricted to people currently in your party because you can race Yayoi. She is very fast but if you win you will receive 1000 Elm. The transport isn't armed so you will need to get rid of the enemies before they pass through the mountain. After traveling to the west you will reach an Aggressival Fortress. When asked what to do respond... - Conquer the fort before they get here. (Choose) - Wait for them and conquer it together. - Retreat and have a drink. After the plan is discussed, use Raimy to scout out the enemy. If you can light the fires without the enemy noticing you will be in luck. Control Raimy in the same manner as you control your characters and when you are ready to go press the X Button. After the first time that you quit, Annette will say what is that sound? Your responses are... - We have to go! - I was just doing the image training. - What do we do now? - I was losing my nerve. - I was having a little conversation. Approach the wall and you will light the first fire. If you are looking to pick up some good rings and gain a lot of experience then destroy as many reinforcements as possible. They will be easy to defeat at first but as the battle goes longer they become stronger and stronger. The Fortune-Teller can evaluate how well you get along with your party members but it is important to speak with her because it happens that she needs a place to stay. Point her in the direction of Voltone and you will gain a new person for your base. One thing that you may also notice is that there is also another option called Future. The Fortune-Teller will see events yet to come. After you are done here, exit town and cross over the bridge to the west. The Transfer Gate works but unfortunately it can't be used because the corresponding one is not functional. Once you venture into the final room you will alert the Master Guardian. The Master Guardian is tough but slow. Don't use the keys; instead have someone with Bait use that technique and have Taros chase them while the others keep hitting him from behind. After the Taros is defeated the Red and Green Prototypes will be unleashed. This is the easy part of the battle because the Red and Green Taros don't like each other and will end up fighting each other. You just need to be a vulture and get the final kill. After the battle you will receive the Star Emblem. Use the Star Emblem on the star-shaped lock and you will rescue the child trapped behind the door. After using the Star Emblem it won't go away. Remember there is till the cave near Voltone that this particular item can be used. After you have collected the treasure return to Taoberia Village and accept the mother's invitation to stay the night. That night the mysterious man that said he knew you earlier will pay you a visit. Answer the door and the man will say... - Who are you. - Long time, no see. - I'm not Gray! He introduces himself as informant Tony. Speak to him again and he will tell you the story that happened between you and Randolf. You respond... - I remember. - I can't remember. - Where's the Gem now? When you awaken the next morning leave town and head west toward Schwartzhaas. Remember that once you enter Schwartzhaas you must go forward so make sure that you are well prepared before taking on this task. Once you are inside stop by Kenneth's house. If you don't know which one it is it's the middle house on the left in South Schwartzhaas. Kenneth will see his family and then when morning time comes it will be time to leave. Speak to the little girl a couple of times and you will find out that she can hear Raimy. Go over to the crates in North Schwartzhaas where you met Raimy and press the X Button to get back to the Federation. Once over the wall make your way to the bridge. The only obstacle preventing you from reaching the Federation are two soldiers that will block the bridge. After that you are free to cross at your leisure. If you begin to take too much damage, use an item to heal. Taking on Vincent does seem like suicide and I may try to take that course at another time. After reaching the Federation a small scene with Orpheus occurs. Before leaving, go to the President's Mansion and visit Annette's mother's room. Annette will be happy that you remembered and she will like you a little bit more because of it. You'll need to look for her mother's diary. The reason why Blizzard is so useful is because it has good range and it can take out multiple enemies at once. The Aggressival Soldiers will get close but by using Blizzard twice you can destroy them all. After they are defeated only the Priest and two Lead Soldiers remain. Take the far Lead Soldier out with Magic and have Annette get the Priest and the Lead Soldier near the fort. I had Hugh equipped with Lv6 Magic Might and Lv6 Magic Mirror. The reason for this is so that he may attack twice. Once Slayn and Hugh are close enough, have Hugh cast Wind Cutter and Slayn Fire Arrows. Doing this will cast the spell Fireball if you use Coop. The Undead Soldiers are weak against fire so it should be an easy fight due to the fact that most of them advance forward in a group. Barbara will appear but she is nothing more than a pest. Just in case the soldiers damage the Civilians with spells, have Monika heal them using Cure. After they are all defeated, speak to the woman in the purple dress and she will give you 45 Elm. Next, go to the hotel and rest at the hotel. In the morning you will meet Yayoi on your way out of town. I started out by having Hugh use Dash and attack the Priest Soldier and then chased down the enemies in that part of the city. Yayoi will attack the Priest Soldier on her first turn making it easy for you to destroy him. I had Annette cast Attack Up on Slayn while Slayn went up the stairs toward Barbara taking on the enemies along the way. Monika is a healer whether it's magic or items and she must make sure that the three guarding the mansion stay alive. After 4 enemies are defeated the Water Crystal will be stolen. Barbara and her accomplice will teleport away. Once she is gone finish up the rest of the soldiers. I don't know what the Mission Complete requirements are but I am guessing that Barbara must be defeated. I will try in a future update to come up with a strategy that is solid in defeating her. After the battle a meeting takes place inside of the mansion. Afterward, Yayoi and Viktor will join you to go to the Bibliostock Library. Speak to one other and you will be on your way. Hugh was working out for me so I chose him. ----------- Items ----------- Ambrosia Magical Molasses Jar It's time to do some relationship building so return to the Apartments and dismiss everyone so that you can speak to them separately. On your way there speak to the man at the food kiosk below the mansion to receive and Ambrosia. In Old Voltone speak to Renault's Friend and receive the Magical Molasses Jar. The Magical Molasses Jar can be used prior to racing. It will make it a little easier to win. Talk to the Doctor inside of the lab and he will tell you that he has discovered more about Cooperation Magic. You will also want to dismiss your party so that you can have Viktor create a new item. After that is completed speak to Hugh and join back up with your party. Of course if Hugh wasn't in your party then none of this will happen. When you reach the center area of Schwartzhaas Kenneth will be there ready to defend the city. Since you need to get to Bibliostock anyways you might as well help out. You can exit the city to the south but you won't find much. In Taoberia Village if you decide to go there, Viktor will mention something like he has been there before. Viktor will then ask Slayn how he feels. Respond with... - Fighting is so...messy. - You're a firecracker, Viktor! - Yes, I am prepared to fight. - I'm looking forward to the fight! - I shouldn't be reckless. When you enter the eastern part of the city where the battle is taking place, Yayoi will tell you about using Magic Before the battle begins. This is useful because you can cast spells like Cycle up to make your characters react faster after making an attack. Also make sure that Slayn and Hugh are up front. When you are ready, talk to the Theodora Soldier and he will ask you what your plan is. Once the enemy numbers get down to critical, some more will appear but only to tell them to retreat. Finish all the stragglers and the mission will be complete. After saving the game leave the city from the east and go to Bibliostock. Before you enter Bibliostock stop by Bornia Village and visit Michelle. Give her the star-shaped sand. She will then ask if you knew about the Lighthouse. Victor and Yayoi will have a supporting role in the next battle. When you are set enter the town. Just like the Aggressival Fort, have Raimy scout out the enemy locations first. Viktor already has a plan; all you need to do is get rid of the enemies. After you are done scouting the area, move your characters one by one to different locations in town. Hugh's goal is to take out the Lead Soldiers while Slayn gets the Armed Soldiers. Yayoi can heal Slayn if needed. Once Hugh has successfully beaten the Lead Soldiers, he should go after the Commander. A little bit of time into the battle the plan will be revealed to the enemy. The enemy will try to flee at this point so all you have to do is take care of them before they can do so. After the battle, go to the hotel to save and rest before going to the Imperial Library. Enter the Imperial Library and look for the book that Viktor needs to read. Besides the one that he is looking for there are other books as well. On the 2F which is actually the first one you see, the book that you need is not here but there is still some of importance like the Practical Excavation that you'll want Viktor to read later and Sketching for Dummies which allows Slayn to learn the basics of sketching. If you plan on getting that picture of the lighthouse, read the Port Delfina Tourist Information. On the 3F there are a number of technical books but when you try to advance an alarm goes off. Go up to the 4F and you will be in the Library Dungeon? Weird that there are monsters here but there are. Save when you reach the 7F. Monsters -------- Hellhound Bone Golem Evil Mage Gargoyle Spectre The final room has an ominous look to it but we will investigate anyways. Speak to Viktor and he will show the group how to get past the door. Once you are inside look for the book called "Secret Treasure Mysteries". It is on the top left area and it tells you the secret of the three Crystals that were stolen. Afterward Slayn will get to choose books to read. Read "Art and Science of Time Bombs" and Viktor will learn how; read the Fox-Tribe Language to learn the language of the Fox-Tribe; Read "Elixyrs for Everyone" so Viktor can learn to create the Special Elixyr; Read "Advanced Magic for Eggheads". First, start off by killing the four Gargoyles in the room. After that have Slayn use Dash and stand on the door switch. Viktor is slow and should be moving outside while Yayoi casts cure for the inevitable damage that you will take. Since Hugh is the other Speed Demon, have him Dash and attack the Evil Mages. You will only be able to reach three of them because the fourth one is blocked by the Golems that will be coming up the stairs. Viktor can go to the second switch and after he has reached it Slayn will be free to move. The Golems are strong but because they are in a straight line it makes them easy prey for Thunder Magic. Cast the Co-Op spell Thunder and use it to decimate the Golems. A level 5 can take them out easily. After that, have Viktor use magic to finish off the last Evil Mage while Hugh waits for the remaining Golems to get closer. After the battle, leave the Library. After leaving you are met by Granford's Soldiers. Sir Granford has a task for the group. He wants a letter delivered to President Burns. Seems easy enough since you're going that way anyways. You will receive the Letter to the President. Once you leave the Mansion, you can check out the shops where it is now possible for you to buy things. Speak to the man at the Pier and Slayn will learn how to be an Artiste provided he read "Sketching for Dummies" in the Library. This is important because it will wear off on all of your members when Zion arrives. Once he arrives, cast Blizzard on his troops to weaken them and use Viktor to shoot at the Lead Soldier and the Priest Soldier. You should be able to beat these guys fairly easily so now all that's left is Zion. Yayoi should be casting Cure the whole time and Hans should use Bait and then run to the right near the barrels and defend. Zion will focus on him giving Slayn ample time to beat him down. Once Zion is defeated Raimy will ask if you saw a spirit leave when he lost. - Yes. - I saw nothing. - I saw something else. You will then acquire the Mysterious Water. Viktor wants to return to the lab but before you do that, exit the Biene ruins to the east and you will find the Central Gate. Go there and you will receive the Central Gate Parts. Now that you have the parts, return to Voltone. Before you do however, make a stop in Falkenfreuk and stay at the hotel. You will meet with informant Tony again who is trying to come up with a plan to draw out Randolf. After leaving the City, go to Taoberia where a woman will recognize Viktor. She remembers the spirit vase and will give Viktor some of the tools used to make it. After the others leave, move a little closer to Viktor and he will tell you that he needs your help. Talk to him and he will test the component, positive, negative, positive. Now go to the shelf in the northwest corner of the room and look at the reaction chart. Speak to Viktor after looking at it and choose Component C. Now he needs to know what Component C is. Examine the books on the northwest side of the room; speak to Viktor and chose "Ultimate Water". Now that you have done that examine the document about Secret Art of Spirits and talk to Viktor again. He will begin to work on the water. Now is a good time to give him the Central Gate Parts. He can't do anything yet because he needs the Master Key but don't worry about it because you will be getting the key shortly. The President will give you a response letter to Sir Granford that means that you will be returning to Bibliostock. Hugh and Yayoi have to go which means that you must choose a fourth. I decided to leave Viktor behind to create stuff in the lab. If you speak to President Burns he will tell you that one of the leaders in the Empire has the Master Gate Key. Before you leave check out what's new in the shops. He tells you that it's your fault that Hugh gave up. You respond... - For his benefit! - He wanted to quit. - That's not my fault! - Uh, sorry? After that he says that he missed his chance to prove that he is better than Hugh. You can respond... - That was a dumb idea! - Not a stalker, but a rival... After that Hugh will enter the room and duel the other Messenger. After the duel the other messenger will teach Hugh the skill of Teleport. Due to the nature of this skill it will not appear until Hugh's Intelligence is high enough. Now that you have the Teleport Skill, it's time to visit Sir Granford. Speak to the butler and he will let you in. One of Granford's men will tell you about Underworld Gates and Granford says destroying the gates means... - ...will result in wandering dead. - ...will cause the dead to stream forth. - ...will keep the spirits from the underworld. (Choose) - ...will do what?. After discussing what to do and pointing you in the direction of Delfina, Sir Granford will give you the Master Gate Key. Speak to the Dark Messengers next to Granford and they will tell you about repairing the broken gates to the underworld. You will receive the Dark Crystal Shard from them. This is the beginning of the quest to repair these gates. Slayn will learn the Underworld Gate Ritual at this time. Leave the Mansion and Bibliostock to begin repairing as many gates as you can on your way back to Voltone to show Viktor the Master Gate Key. ============================== Underworld Gates ============================== You've seen these before but just in case you haven't, they look like trees and rocks. To fix an Underworld Gate, just walk over it and press the X Button. Below is the list of Underworld Gates that we will fix right now. As much as I like keeping Viktor in the lab, fixing those Gates will sure be helpful in the future. Change your party to include Monica and Viktor for now and head out to find the Transfer Gates. You will run into a few more Underworld Gates so we'll take care of those as well. Since Monika is in your party right now, stop by Bornia Village and speak to the lone soldier walking around near the entrance. He will tell Monika what he knows about her father. Nothing much is found out but maybe you can request another Off-Sheet investigation. Once you are done there, go to Rolandia to fix the Underworld Gates and Transfer Gate. Once you fix the Gate in Tzaitstein use it to return to Voltone. Now you can get to Rolandia anytime without having to use the cave. Now that you have fixed most of the Gates, it's time to get on with the Mission. Speak to him and he will tell you that something is wrong with his brother. Apparently his brother is poisoned and the bridge out of town is blocked off. Annette could do it if she had her mother's notes. Three choices will come up. - Hurry! - Someone should help. - You can do it! (Choose) Slayn will convince Annette to try and off the group goes back to Voltone to get Annette's mother's notebook. Go to Annette's mother's room in the mansion and examine the open book on the desk. She will create the "Secret Fever Tonic". Return to Taoberia, give the boy the Tonic and it will cure his brother. Annette will receive the Title "Aspiring Chemist". Now that you have saved the kid it's time to press on with the adventure. Fix the Underworld Gates as you go south towards Delfina. ============================== Underworld Gates ============================== Underworld Gate #6 (Tree) - Located north of the Prisoner Tower Underworld Gate #7 (Rock) - Just south of the bridge entering Delfina Area Underworld Gate #8 (Tree) - Located west of Port Delfina If you try to enter Delfinia you will find out that the soldiers that want to attack are in a holding pattern because the Aggressival Army is holding some of the citizens hostage somewhere. It's up to you to find them. To the north of the port city is the North Delfina Cave. Enter the cave and go down to the bottom level (B4) where you will find the hostages. After saving your game have Yayoi use Cycle Up, Attack Up, Shield and Resistance on everyone who will be doing hand to hand combat. Yayoi should cast magic to get rid of the Lead Soldiers that can't be reached because the can do the most damage. After a couple of soldiers are defeated the Commander will set a Time Bomb. You have until the timer reaches 0 to complete the mission and get all hostages out. After two more enemies are defeated reinforcements will appear. Yayoi should be starting to cast her spell to get rid of the Lead Soldier in the back. After the Lead Soldier is defeated she needs to stick to healing while the other three clean up. While Annette and Hugh kill the Archers at the entrance to the room, Slayn should be going for the key. Once all of the enemies are defeated you still must get the key and rescue the hostages before time runs out so don't dawdle. After you leave the Time Bomb goes off. Exit the cave and return to the inn at Taoberia to get healed. Annette should also Dash because she is going to be your cleaner. The reason why you used these two spells together is to get the Blizzard spell that can defeat multiple enemies at once. Yayoi should move forward as well because later in the fight the Aggressival General will join in the fight. Even though the objective is to prevent the Lighthouse Guards from being defeated, they can hold out for a little bit until you get into position. You may need to use an item at least once to insure that none of them die. Once the General Appears have Hugh use Bait and then continue to finish off the Aggressival Troops near the lighthouse. Annette can go for the Priest Soldier and sometime before defeating both the General and the Commander, make sure that you kill the Lead Soldier on the roof otherwise he will just say "Screw This, I'm leaving." Leaving you with only a Mission Clear. After the battle Kenneth will arrive and thank you. Go to the Inn and save. Your work in Port Delfinia is complete but before you enter the Lighthouse and travel to Dark Mountain there is much to be done like fixing the Transfer Gates in Delfinia and Falkenfreuk and building relationships with your characters in Voltone. Let's first start with the Port City. Speak to the Girl in the purple dress walking around the inn. She will tell you what she has seen since she has been in the Port City and you can respond with... - Maybe they're still terrified. - There must be a reason. - They didn't want to accept the refugees. (Choose) If you chose the last one she will say that she is impressed but also will know your name. Slayn can then respond... - How did you know my name? - Who are you? - You're the spy, aren't you? Speak to the lady in yellow near the Transfer Gate and she will give you "3500 Elm". A girl in purple next to another guy just below the inn will give you a "Dandy Book". Go south from there and an old man is waiting for you to thank you for saving his granddaughter. As a reward he will give you a "Mirage Gauntlet." Stand at the corner where the guy and girl are and use the Art Kit. A musical note will appear over Slayn's head meaning you have found the best spot to paint. As long as you have become an Artiste you can paint a picture of the Lighthouse. Now that you have the picture, remember to give it to Michelle. Speak to the man near the reflecting pool and he will repay you by opening an item shop. Tell him about Voltone and off he goes. There are a number of new things for sale here and I highly recommend that you buy them before leaving the City. I would suggest buying the gems Metal Killer and Epiphany. Before leaving the town, show the Thief's Button to the innkeeper. He will respond and you say... (You can only do this if you fought the very first battle of the game.) - You're the one, aren't you?! - You stole the bag ten years ago! (Choose) - Never Mind... After you catch him, he tells you his story and reveals that the bag was sold to a doctor in Falkenfreuk. Since there are still a couple of Underworld Gates to be fixed in this area and we need to see the doctor, we will walk. Enter Falkenfreuk and knock on the doctor's door (Located to the right of the second Ring Shop) and after the doctor tells you that he is too busy you will get a choice to discuss the 10 year-old bag. Say yes and the doctor will show you the notebook. One thing that sticks out is a note about Immunity Medicine. It says that you need Ultimate Water and the roots from a Dark Tree. He will then tell you that once you have both Ingredients, return to him. Additionally Annette will find a small box in the bag as well. When asked if you know how to open it the Valuable items will come up. Select the Small Key Pendant and the box will open up. Inside is the Ring that Annette wanted as a child. When you arrive in town again speak to Remington and he will give you Information on Aggressival's movement. In the Shop Area is your new Item Shopkeeper. He sells everything that most shops have to offer but also has a "Holy Mother Tonic" for sale at 2000 Elm. Finally, go to the Lab and speak to Viktor to receive the "Ultimate Water" and whatever item you were working on. After you are finished there it's time to take on the Optional Mission. If you didn't do any of the events early in the game then you can just skip to the next part now. First off, start by equipping Slayn with the gems Lv7 Epiphany, Lv7 Metal Killer and Lv6 Destroy Balance. Now rest in your bed. That night Informant Tony will knock on the door and tell you that the plan to draw out Randolf worked. Tony will collapse and in his last breath will tell you to take the Keepsake to his sister in Taoberia. Next you will automatically go to the location of the first battle. Just when the fight is about to begin, Slayn's personality takes over and Raimy says it's not good because... - I know. - I'll beat him instead! - What a bother! - Why don't you do it instead?! This a one on one battle with Randolf. If you have Cycle Up then you are at an extreme advantage but even if you don't, the gems that I recommended will tear this guy up. He is most likely at a higher level but it shouldn't be by much. I was at Level 33. You need to get the Transfer Gates working in Falkenfreuk and Delfinia as well as get more information from Ted about Monika's Father. Since there are two things to do in Bornia we will go there first. If you don't feel like going to any of these places then at least get the Transfer Gates fixed. Once the gate is fixed in Delfinia continue to the lighthouse to reach the Dark Mountain Area. ============================== Bornia Village ============================== Speak to Ted and he will remember something else about Monika's Father. He says something about Dark Power but that is not significant at this exact moment. After that visit Michelle and give her the picture that Slayn drew. That is the last item that she needs but keep visiting every so often. Now that you are finished here, take a visit to the Imperial Library in Bibliostock. ============================== Imperial Library ============================== This is probably Viktor's favorite place in the world. Unfortunately for him he is needed in the lab. Take the time to read some of the books that he was interested in but didn't have the time to read. On the 2F is a book called Practical Excavation. Read this book and Viktor will learn the Excavation Skill. ============================== Taoberia (Optional) ============================== Finally go to Taoberia to return the Keepsake Ring to Tony's Sister. His sister is the girl that is walking around near the entrance of town. She is sad that he is gone but as a reward she will give you the gem "Lv9 Rainbow's End". Inside of the lighthouse is a Transfer Gate that leads to Dark Mountain and stairs leading to the top. Since the stairs are blocked at the moment use the Transfer Gate. This Transfer Gate leads to an area that the map doesn't cover so you'll just have to walk around to find the Dark Mountain by walking around. To get to the Dark Mountain you will need to travel north and then east around the mountains. There are three gates to the underworld that need to be fixed here so make sure that you have fixed them all before moving on with the game. This area has some tough monsters so make sure that you are at full HP and powered up when walking around. ============================== Underworld Gates ============================== Underworld Gate #13 (Tree) - Right next to the Transfer Gate Underworld Gate #14 (Tree) - To the east in a canyon Underworld Gate #15 (Tree) - The northwest portion of this area When you reach Dark Mountain, The spirit messengers will recognize you as the Dark Lord. After telling you about Zion they wish that they only knew of his plan. Slayn responds by saying... - He's trying to get 50,000 souls! - He's collecting souls to become uber-powerful. - Ummm...not too sure. Viktor, you got anything? - I couldn't tell ya. I answered the third choice not becomes it seems like the correct one but because it won't appear unless Viktor is in the party. Before leaving, speak to the various Spirit Messengers around Dark Mountain. Near the save spot the Spirit Master guarding the path will tell you about the Trial Cave. The Cave has been damaged so you won't be able to access it right now. Having Monika in your group will allow you to find out about her father by speaking with the Chief Spirit Master. After we leave the cave we will visit Linasis on Featheria Isle. None of the shops are stocked so just rest by talking to the Spirit Master near the Cave entrance and then get the transporter fixed. Before resting up and building relationships use the Transfer Gate to go to Tzaitstein and then go to Featheria Isle. Magic Barrier Generator 4 is where Linasis stays. Since Monica is in your party you will get to tell him about what has happened to her father. After that return to Voltone and dismiss everyone to do some relationship building. Back in Voltone it's time to get in touch with the others. Once you enter and move forward a bit the Granford Sect Chief will praise you some more and the tell you that Lord Granford wants to minimize casualties. Speak to the Chief again and he will say, "bearing in mind our limitations, what should we do if the enemy attacks? - Go on the offensive with our support. - Take the defensive. - Retreat while causing damage. - Cry like babies and surrender. After choosing what to do if the enemy attacks, the enemy will attack. When you begin there are already 14 to start so focus on killing the originals and one of the reinforcements. Use Dash with Annette, Hugh and Slayn and then have Slayn and Hugh go right up the middle toward the Archers destroying the soldiers along the way and Annette take out the three to the right. Yayoi is in charge of healing and using Cycle Up when the characters need it again. The reason why you want to get to the bridge so quickly is to prevent the Granford soldiers from charging mindlessly into the enemy horde. Since you didn't go left the Granford Soldiers will be occupied with the enemies to the left. Once the two Archers on the bridge are defeated, use Magic to kill the Lead Soldier on the wall and then begin casting the two spells that form Blizzard or Thunder and hold them until the enemy is clumped together trying to get by you. When you use Blizzard the first time, make sure that you don't finish all of the enemies off because more will come. Charge up your Blizzard Spell again and use it at the last second to kill all of the enemies. When it was all said and done, I had 31 casualties. If you were reading this and you don't know how to cast Blizzard, it's Co-Op magic. I think Co-Op magic is kind of broken here but oh well. After the battle try to advance and you will be stopped by General Kreuzweir. You will explain the situation to him but he is willing to check it out. Return to Voltone for some rest and character building. Speak to the Commander before leaving and he will give you Lv9 All Attrib Def. Now that you have driven back the enemy for the moment, return to Bibliostock and then try to enter Sir Granford's Mansion. The Butler won't let you in but Raimy will just say all we can do is come back later and ask what they can do to stop Zion's plot. Slayn says... - I don't know. - Dark Spirit Masters are pondering this. After that, use the Transport Gate to return to the Federation. When you return the Doctor will have made a new discovery. Speak to him and you will learn more Cooperation Arts and you will now have the ability to learn Blast. Also don't forget to get the item Viktor was making and request that he create a new one. Speak to the butler to gain entry and when you arrive you will find out that Vincent is working with you. Once Annette has defeated the two Heavy Soldiers she should Dash to catch the Priest Soldier. Hugh should be casting Teleport after the Commander is finished and use it only if Annette can't reach the Priest Soldier in time. After the Enemies are defeated, Clive will join the battle. Attack with your strongest magic and have Hugh Teleport Slayn and Yayoi out of there. Annette should use the Bait Technique to draw Clive away from the others and Hugh should cast Teleport when Clive gets closes to her. I feel cheap for doing this but you will get a Mission Complete. If you didn't find out about Monika's Father by now, it's too late. Return to Voltone and speak to Viktor in his lab. He finds it intriguing that the Space-Time Crystal has another use. To counter that he will need to create a Space-Time Resistor, unfortunately he needs the crystal of similar name. You have already gotten one before in the Tzaitstein Mine. Prior to the last mission I had Viktor create an Excavator. Get the Excavator and change your party to include someone with Blast, Monika and Viktor. ================================= Fix Michelle's Device (Optional) ================================= This next part is optional but if you don't do it Michelle will die. Transfer to Bornia and visit Michelle. It turns out that the device was damaged in the battle. You must find Linasis to get the part that can fix the machine. If Monika isn't in your party as suggested then you won't be able to get the device. Monika repairs it temporarily and suggests Linasis has the part. You respond... - Linasis? - Did he make that? - I don't wish to see him. After that, Slayn will speak to Michelle alone. Raimy will say something and you can respond after by saying... - Don't be sad. - Don't be so indifferent. - Don't you want to live? She will say that she desperately wants to live and Slayn can respond with... - Michelle... - I won't let you die! - Hope lives until you let it die. Now you must go to Featheria Isle to speak to Linasis. He is in Magic Barrier Generator 4. Of course since you need to transfer to Tzaitstein, go to the mine first to get the Time Crystal Ore. After retrieving the Ore now go to Featheria Isle where Linasis is staying. Linasis will enter the Barrier and give you the "Aseptic Device Parts". Now that you have the parts, it's time to go back and fix the Aseptic Device in Bornia. After the device is fixed, head south toward a small hole in the mountain covered by rocks. If you don't have the Excavator forget it. ================================= Fox-Tribe Forest ================================= Travel south and slightly west of Bornia and you will find a small hole blocked with rocks. Use the Excavator here to clear the rocks and then go through the hole to reach the western area beyond the mountains. To the south is the Fox-Tribe Forest. Enter and speak to the Fox -Tribe members. If you didn't read the Fox-Tribe Dictionary in Bibliostock then you are out of luck right now. Inside of the Forest on of the Fox's will tell you how to find Gold Slimes. The Gold Slimes are in this area and they are very rare. ============================== Underworld Gates ============================== Underworld Gate #16 (Tree) - West of the Fox-Tribe Forest Now that you are done exploring, change your party to someone with Blast, Hugh, and Annette. Make sure that you save as well because the next battle will start shortly. Return to the lab and speak to Viktor. Now that he has the parts, he will create the Space-Time Resistor. After the battle has concluded, return to Sir Granford. Sir Granford will ask how to proceed and Hugh suggests that Slayn decides. You can say... - Persuade Zion. - Find a way to stop the plot. - Stop the soul collection. - Defeat Zion in a battle. - Cooperate with Zion After making a decision, your next stop is Dark Mountain. Before we go to Dark Mountain stop by Voltone to rest up and build relationships. Yayoi and Hugh have to go on the next mission. Speak to Sir Granford before you leave and he will give you a pass to see the top floors of the library. The gem shop is especially useful because a couple of the gems in here will save you in the next battle. Make sure to buy Epiphany and Vampire Gems here because they cancel each other out. The Teriaka gem here is also going to be useful because the enemies here like to cause status ailments. Only Hugh and Yayoi are allowed to go in with you so make sure that you are prepared by equipping all three with the Teriaka gem and have Hugh and Slayn equipped with the Lv7 Epiphany and Vampire gems to get the power increase and to cancel out the damage penalty. After accepting to go Annette will say Good Luck and Slayn responds... - Leave this to me! - I'm beginning to have doubts. - Whatever will be, will be. - ... After he will give you the "Dark Scroll". When you get inside Hugh will ask if you can see the Dark Power. Slayn responds... - Of course. - I think so. - Not really. The layout of this cave is the same every time so just make your way through it and find the four ghosts. The ghosts will tell you about Spirit Messengers and when you have found them all, talk to the Messenger guarding the path to the final trial. You have to take a test but it's easy as long as you read what the ghosts said. If you get a question wrong then you will need to find that ghost so that you can review. The Chief Spirit Master has four questions that you must answer. What is the purpose of a Dark Spirit Master? - Control Spirits (Correct) - Collect Spirits - Hunt Spirits What is your mission as a Dark Spirit Messenger? - Protect the darkness at night. - Protect cycle of life. (Correct) - Collect souls What happens to a soul in the underworld? - It becomes a Fairy! - It is assigned a new body at once. - It rests until a new body is assigned. (Correct) What eventually happens to a Fairy? - It becomes Human. - It becomes Spirits. (Correct) - It fades away. After you pass the test its time to continue on. From the next room go to the left to get the Double Rings gem and then back to the right to save your game before the final trial. In the next room use the support magic before speaking to the Spirit Master. Start by Having Slayn use Dash and then go to the right just up the stairs to block the Arch Fiend. Hugh should go toward the chest that the Arch Fiend guards. Inside of the chest is the Dark Tree Root and if you don't get it now you won't be able to cure Michelle. The main problem would've been the Litch because he can casts death. Of course your Lv7 Teriaka prevents that. With the Epiphany/Vampire Combo you should be able to take down most of the enemies in one hit. Once the Arch Fiend is destroyed just take your time getting rid of the rest. To keep your attacks fluid, keep casting Cycle Up until Slayn is in position to block the Arch Fiend. After the battle advance to the Dark Crystal and use the Dark Scroll. Slayn will learn the Art of Control. When you get back, Annette tells you that Viktor has created some sort of device and is going to deliver it. Return to the Lab and Viktor will give you the "Soul Gauge". Now it's time to meet with party members in their room. After that, head to the city of Lindenberg to meet up with Vincent. You can get there by passing through the fort to the east. Once you arrive in the Lindberg area look for the gates to the underworld. Once you have found them, return to Bibliostock or Bornia to heal and then go into Lindenberg. The Trial Cave is optional and will be covered after this next battle. If you have Yayoi in your party and visit Michelle, Yayoi will request to speak with Michelle alone. You will find out the connection between Orpheus and Barbara indirectly. Of course you need to do this before the battle otherwise this won't happen. Reinforcements for this battle will arrive from the bottom, top-left and top-right in that order so have you troops situated accordingly. Remember Hugh can teleport so make good use of this skill. The reinforcements will appear once more from the bottom and that will be it. Now that the battle is over, go to the in and save because that was a long battle. The next thing to do is explore the city and more importantly find out about the Master Garb. Start by checking out the shops here. Many of them have some of the strongest Armor. The item shop is normal but you are close to the end of the game and you should expect good equipment. Start by going to Bibliostock and investigate the Top Floor of the Library. Up there is a book about creating the Master Garb. Read it and then go to Lindenberg. In Lindenberg go all the way up and to the right; just before leaving town, go down but make sure that you don't exit and speak to the scientist. He will teach Viktor how to create the Master Garb. Also in Lindenberg, fix the Transfer Gate. When Viktor fixes it he will find the "Mind Induction Metal". Return to the lab and replace Viktor with someone else. I chose Annette. You will also want to have Viktor make the Master Garb. ============================== Purity Dress ============================== This is an item that will provide the greatest protection for Monika. Since you have fixed all of the Underworld Gates return to the Dark Mountain Shrine. Speak to the Spirit Master near the temple and he will give you the Light Cloth. Now go to East Schwartzhaas and speak to the lady from Bornia two times to receive the item. ============================== Final Gauntlet ============================== To get this one you must deal as much damage as you can with one attack in the Damage Competition in the Arena. I had two Lv7 Epiphany gems and a Lv7 Metal Killer gem. I ended up doing 727, which was more than enough to get on the top of the list. I also received a Counterattack Scroll and a Body Tune Scroll. ============================== Trial Cave ============================== Go back to Lindenberg and then exit and go north across the bridge. If you completed all of the gates to the underworld then you know where this cave is already. As a reward she will let you try the toughest dungeon in her tribe, which is the one in Voltone. Accept her offer and she will wait for you in Old Voltone. If you return to Viktor he will have finished creating the Master Garb. ============================== Voltone Well ============================== Monsters Items -------- ---------- Demi-Titan Mind Tune Scroll Summer Eel Louve Armor Misery Golem Lv9 Transport Wings Litch Arch Fiend Speak to the Dungeon Mistress and she will allow you to access the well in Voltone. This is a tough dungeon that goes down to floor B9. I used Silent Step all the way down and my fighters had 2 Art of Evasions equipped. Another tip to getting by is to always have Shield cast. If you run into the Demi- Titans they can do some mean Damage. When you reach the bottom, grab the three items including Annette's strongest Armor and then warp out of there. However, once you defeat Vier Drep, His two brothers Funf Egger and Sechs Ulk will appear from the bottom of the screen, Prior to defeating Vier Drep, telport Yayoi to the top of the battlefield and have Annette and Slayn also run to the top. Hugh should make himself invisible when the two arrive and Slayn should use Bait and start hurling Earth Magic at them. If you haven't tried using Capicitor Magic you should start because it works great. Just place them in the way of the Titans like mines and watch them die when they step on them. Use the same strategy in the one on one battles by baiting the Titan and having him chase Slayn. Yayoi can kill him with Capacitor Magic while Hugh teleports him around the battlefield to avoid being hit. After Seiben Dube is defeated return to Bornia and speak to the man that talks about Titans. He will ask for your Autograph and then give you the Fenrill Garb. =================================== Importing Growlanser II Characters =================================== You already have the Mind Induction Metal and now you must get the Power Stone. The Power Stone can be earned as a prize in the Arena's Free Battle ~ 4 on 4 Master A Rank. In addition to having these two items you must have also read the book in the Bibliostock Imperial Library. After you use one of the items for Viktor, he will begin on the project and a message will come up telling you to Insert a Memory Card with Growlanser II data into the most recently accessed Memory Card Slot. It will be searched for the latest-date and the characters that were successfully finished (except Sereb). It can only be done one time so it's best that you complete Growlanser II with all of the characters before doing this. (As of this Walkthrough I didn't do that because I wanted to start this one. If you want to get Max, you need to find him at the end of part II. Check my FAQ for info on that. I will be updating the Growlanser II FAQ to final status and then this one again after. Now that you have the Growlanser II characters, try going out and using them. ***************** Arieta ***************** Go to the Fox-Tail Forest with her in the party and she will recognize the Phantom Beasts. Speak to one of the Beasts and you will receive the Rainbow Feather Robe. ***************** Ernest ***************** If you have Ernest in your party and speak to the Dungeon Mistress, She likes him and as a gift she gives him the Imperial Gauntlet. This is Ernest's strongest piece of Armor. ***************** Riviera ***************** Go to Port Delfinia and speak to the woman in the inn. I mad Yayoi invisible at the start so that the reinforcements can't see her. Once it is Zion, it should be a mere formality to beat him. Once they are moving in a direction they will continue to walk that way.
