This is end game information, so expect spoilers if you have not yet beaten the game. This guide will explore the steps needed to take on the Dark World, and information on spells and abilities you'll need to survive. *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* Table of Contents *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* 1: Introduction 2: FAQ (Quick Information) 3: The Cave of Trials 4: Characters, Skills, and Levels 5: Taking on the Dark World 6: Two Ways to Win 7: Miscellaneous *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* Introduction *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* This guide is meant to explore both the basics and advanced information on how to completely conquer the Dark World of La Pucelle Tactics. If you do not have the dedication to spend days of your life levelling your characters to defeat enemies and bosses, then this challenge is not for you. I also highly reccomend you have aquired the item "Angel Shoes" from Chapter IV, though it is not required. It just makes things a lot easier. The Dark World of La Pucelle Tactics is a dangerous and frightening universe where some of the most powerful creatures in this existence lay. Because they will overpower you so considerably at the start, you will want to avoid confrontation with them at all costs, even when you are at level equal to them. Sadly, the level of monsters you need to fight is 500+. Fortunately for you, the goal is not to defeat everything you see. Unfortunately, it is still difficult. The base game of La Pucelle Tactics is expected to be defeated around level 40. Before you should even approach the first challenge of the Dark World, you need to be at least level 75 with 2-3 main attackers (I prefer Dark Eclair, Homard, and Prier at that level). To do this, you need to train your characters and your abilities as strong as possible. *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* This section will brefily go over the basics of what it takes to completely anihilate the Dark Worlds, in a question based format. If you are looking for any specific answer or information regarding rewards or how to win, you will find it here. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- How do I gain Prier's first title? ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- You need to defeat a single level 500+ Overlord in a Dark World with 300% Dark Energy Index. You will get a cutscene and Preir's first title after beating the Overlord. Note that this is -Overlord- monster, not a Lord, Supreme Demon, Demon, or any other monster type found in the Dark World. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- What is the lowest level possible to gain Preier's first title? ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- This depends. I did it with two level 75 attackers (Dark Eclaire and Homard) and a level 90 main attacker (Prier) my first time. I killed a level 509 Haniwa (a weak Overlord type), since even with Homard's -Burning Soul- and 3 Bravehearts cast I was unable to damage the other higher tier Overlords at that current level, even though I had the best gear possible bought, and some from runs in the Dark World. It is probably possible to do it lower, with better gear then mine, and more Braveheart casters. Most people attempt this quest after they have beaten Cave of Trials 5 (which I highly suggest doing) and are level 100-120. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~~-~-~-~-~-~ How do I completely dominate the Dark World? ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~~-~-~-~-~-~ To gain Prier's ultimate title and completely dominate the Dark World, you need to defeat 20 level 500+ Overlords and 1 level 700+ Overlord in a single run through a 300% Dark Energy Index Dark World. This is the hardest thing to do in the game (if you do it without Purified minions), and I go in-depth of how to do this late in this guide. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Other then titles, what rewards do I get for dominating the Dark World? ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- When you get Preier's first title, you get an ability, and one of the most useful items in the game (IMO) as well as a cutscene. When you gain her second title, you get a cutscene and a rather useless item. These items are the Warp Engine and the Light Year Cannon. --- The Warp Engine lets you move to any area you wish. It gives you 99 move, and lets you warp anywhere, even if your path is blocked by enemies. You see those areas off in the corners that are completely separated from anything in the Dark World? those are accessible now with the Warp Engine. You can now instantly move to the exit of the Dark World, after all that avoding and Decoys. --- --- The Light Year Cannon allows you to attack physically from anywhere on the map. This item is useless on stronger monsters since their counters are usually enough to one his you, and you can pass up weaker monsters with the Warp Engine. --- ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- How hard is it to completely dominate the Dark World? ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- There are technically, two ways to beat the second part of the Dark World. Even if you choose the easier way, expect to spend at least a good 10+ hours levelling, but if you choose the harder way, you might have to spend 40+ hours levelling. The harder way is for completionists only, and you should have fun with it ^^. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- How do I level up for the Challenges in the Dark World? ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- I suggest using Cave of Trials 3 until you are strong enough to beat Cave of Trials 4. Then level in Cave of Trials 5 until you are about level 100. From there, you should be able to gain Preier's first title, and gain the ability to Purify boss monsters. If you don't mind killing your own characters (which is the -only- fast way to level past a certain point;;) From there, you need to go to Cave of Trials 5, and Purify as many Hekatonchiers as you can (it gets harder to Purify them as you go). If you can not get a full 6, Chimeras work as well. Then you should go to a very low level area (I like 'Hall of Courage' in Montblanc Castle) and use Area of Effect attacks (AOE) to kill them off (Such as -Batter Up-, -Meteor Slash-, and -Broken Arrow-). This will gain many levels at a time and works to well past level 400. Once you get to level 400 or so, you can start Purifying Baal and his minions to use as allies to level off of, if you choose to do so. They are found in the Dark Shrine, and are level 1500-2000. You can not Purify them normally, so use gear (like Sexy Lingerie) that has high Purify% on it and physically attack them. *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* The Cave of Trials *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* This section goes over how to gain the levels needed to complete the Dark World's first stage and gain Prier's first title. The Cave of Trials is an imperative place to train at. You do not gain acess to this locale until late in the game, but that is when you need it. The first few levels are easy to beat at the levels you can beat the game. Cave of Trials 3 is when the Experience Points can really start flowing though, as you need to use area attacks (AOE). All of the bats are around level 60-70, and you should gain levels quite quickly. Whenever you feel yourself too overwhelmed, have a character leave and heal on the World Map. You will need to repeat this Process over and over again. After you use your AOE attacks (dependant on the characters) you should start levelling up certain character specific skills. Namely Prier's Redemption, Dark Eclair's Omega Lance, Homard's Demon Blade and Burning Soul (the latter is very important), as well as Father Salade's Holy Truth, though Father Salade ends up a bit harder to level then the other melee attackers because he has no AOE attacks. Alouette, Coulotte, and one other character (I used Father Salade, since he is harder to level) need to have the spell "Braveheart". This spell is gained from Aid staffs. These characters are going to 'power up' your other attackers with this spell duing the battles in the Dark World, and they need to have the spell at at least level 4 range, so it can hit at least 3 of them. Note that Cave of Trials 4 is quite a jump higher over Cave of Trials 3, so you will not be able to defeat it until you have gained a significant amount of levels on Cave of Trials 3. *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* Characters, Skills, and Levels *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* This section apllies to the first part of the Dark World, as this first part will require far more preparation on your part then the second. This is usually because you do not know what to expect, and also because it is a far more touchy experience then what you would normally do. You can not run in the Dark World, only go to the next level. And when everything can one-hit you, you need to be able to move to the exit in one turn (hopefully), or at least move out of any enemies range. Either that, or use someone to lure the monsters away from your character, as you have done in the past (hopefully >.>;). Remember that monsters go for characters with lower HP rather then lower defense. There are quite a few things you need to have done for the Dark World preparations. First off, the very very very minimum levels I suggest are 75 on your two sub attackers, and 90 on your main attacker. Anything lower then that, and you will not even be able to dent the monsters, even with multiple Bravehearts cast. Your Bravehearter's should be level 50 at least. Level 120 on all characters is far safer, and will be much easier. To level your characters quickly after a certain point becomes very very slow. Cave of Trials 3 is good for a while, then you beat Cave of Trials 4 at around level 70. Cave of Trials 5 is good for levelling until around level 100, but still that takes time. The best way to level is by attacking your own characters for experience. This is best done on a very low level stage where there are monsters that are no threat to you. I suggest the 'Hall of Courage' in Montblanc Castle as there are no monsters to attack you until you attack them (unless the Dark Portal monsters appear). What you want to do, is take all of your gear off your characters (so they have low HP, defense, and resistence) and give the best gear possible to the character you're trying to level. Then have this character use AOE attacks on (hopefully) around 6 of your highest level characters. If you can, purify monsters to help this process go faster. The level 100 Zombies from Cave of Trials 5 work well, as do the Ghouls, if you don't mind their hating you for killing them over and over again. Redemption will be Prier's main single target attack skill. Omega Lance will be Dark Eclair's, and Homard's Burning Soul is absolutely essential to level. He is the key to defeating the strongest bosses in the game. His Burning Soul Ability does 10x damage to certain Demon type monsters, which can be especially entertaining with many Bravehearts. Once you feel you are appropriate level to take on the Dark Worlds first challenge, read on. *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* Taking on the Dark World *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* To take on the first challenge of the Dark World, you need to kill a single 500+ Demon Overlord. This doesn't sound too difficult, but when you really try it it is. To get to the Demon Overlords that are level 500+, you need to have an area with a Dark Energy Index of 300 (the maximum). The easiest way to get a Dark Energy Index od 300 is to attack your own characters over and over again with AOE attacks until they are dead, and then run from the area. This works in any area, but I suggest doing it in an area you wont be using any time soon. PS: To know your monster is a Demon Overlord, check his title, if it says Demon Overlord, then its an Overlord. Some monsters have the same appearance (and sometimes higher levels), but are only Demon Lords. Demon Overlords have higher base stats, even at lower levels then their Lord counterparts. After making an area with a Dark Energy Index of 300, its time to explore the Dark World. Prepare to die a few times before you actually complete your trips, since it takes a lot of practice to complete these worlds. The first things you will notice in the Demon Overlord Worlds is that the very lowest level enemy possible is level 250. The goal here is to not kill anything at all, but to find the weakest Overlord possible. Depending on your level, you might or might not be able to take on a stronger Overlord. It takes a lot of learning to see what you are capable to taking, but before you - EVER- engage something, check their stats. Make sure they have less then 15000 HP and low defense. The easiest Overlords in the area tend to be Haniwa's, in any form they take. For your first romp through the Dark Worlds, AVOID ANY AND ALL CONTACT WITH MONSTERS, OR YOU WILL BE ANIHILATED. And never, EVER, unless you absolutely must, press the dreaded "End Turn". "End Turn" usually means -death- in the Dark World. The strategy for this is a lot easier then it sounds, though it is difficult all the same. Hopefully (that is a big hopefully) you aquired the 'Angel Shoes' and have three extra pairs of shoes on hand. You need someone to move through the Dark Worlds levels without being attacked. With the Angel Shoes and three pairs of Shoes, that should add at least +6 Move to you, and you should be able to reach the portal to the next level. If not, prepare a few decoys so your characters can reach the portal to the next level. - - - This is a very important trick to learn before you complete this quest, so if you haven't mastered it by the time you have killed your 500+ Overlord, you might mess up and have to start over and kill it again, which no one wants. So learn it carefully, I suggest taking a few runs through the Dark World just mastering this trick before attempting to kill any 500+ Overlord. - - - Choosing the Demon Overlord you want to attack depends on your level. If you choose to do this quest at a very low level (70-90) then possibly the only Overlords you will be able to kill are 500-510 Haniwa's, even with Homard's Burning Soul powered up with Braveheart. If you are higher levelled, then you might be able to take the Demon types, though I do not suggest the Skeletons, since Burning Souls 10x damage does not work on them. Either way, their attack does not matter (they will one hit you pretty much no matter what) so get one with as low as defense and HP as possible. There is a simple strategy for any and all Demon Overlords you decide to kill. Your main attackers, whomever they might be (Homard, Preier, Dark Eclair, or Father Salade) all need 2-3 Bravehearts cast upon them to be able to effectively dent the 500+ Overlords. After the Braveheart is cast, make sure to separate your characters so if you have to press "End Turn" (God Forbid) and a monster decides to cast that they dont all get Nuked and killed with one spell. You know you will be able to kill the particular Demon Overlord that you have targeted that after you have been Bravehearted that your main attacker has either one hit it (which is usually the case) or has at least taken off 2/3 of its max HP. If the main attacker has taken off 1/2 its still possible to kill the 500+ Overlord off with your sub attackers, just a lot more difficult. If you feel you can kill it, but have already used all three attackers, bring out a few decoys and hope for the best. If you still are not able to dent a 500+ Overlord after all the Bravehearts, you might need better equipment and levels. To get better equipment then the shops carry, you need to make a few runs through the Dark World. Even just finishing the Dark World with no kills will grant you rewards and sometimes very powerful weapons. Also, you can get the Godhand weapon from beating Cave of Trials 5. You need everyone over level 100 to do that, though. Note that after defeating the 500+ Overlord you are not done with the run of the Dark World. You still need to get out of the area. Put your shoes back on and run towards the exit with a higher Move character. If you did it, you will get a great cutscene, and Prier will get a new title (Demon Lord) and you will get probably the most useful item in the game, the Warp Engine. --- The Warp Engine lets you move to any area you wish. You see those areas off in the corners that are completely separated from anything in the Dark World? those are accessible now with the Warp Engine. You can now instantly move to the exit of the Dark World, after all that avoding and Decoys --- Prier also gains the very useful ability to Purify Boss Monsters. Its fun to watch the most frightening monsters come at your beck and call. For mass levelling fun, Purify 6 Heckatonchiers from Cave of Trials 5 (or if you can not get that many, get as many as you can, and get a few Chimera's) and use AOE attacks on them to gain massive levels at a time. You will level faster then you thought possible. *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* Two Ways to Win *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* You would think after Prier got her Demon Lord title, you would be done, but that is not the case. You still have the hardest things in the game to do. It is argued what you need to do to get Prier's second title and the best scene in the game. In the official strategy guide, which is very vague, and says to "Defeat 20+ 500+ Overlords, and 1 700+ Demon Overlord." This is -Incorrect- information. I did this (actually, I defeated well over 40 500+ Overlords and 10+ 700 Overlords individually) and still did not get the scene. I tried something else, and I learned what did work. They seem to have left out a sentence. You need to defeat 20+ 500+ Overlords and one 700+ Overlord -IN 1 RUN-. Thats something completely different altogether. Now, in one run, there are two ways to do this. There is the 'easier' way, and the 'completionist' way. The 'easier' way still takes hours and hours of time to do, but the completionist way is probably the hardest thing to do in the game. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ The Easier Way ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ To gain the title the easier way, you need to have beaten Cave of Trials 5. That means every character of yours needs to be level 100+ (probably) to have an easy time at it. Beating the Cave of Trials opens the Challenge of Gods which is a fight with Baal and his 3 allies. With Prier having her new Demon Lord title, you are able to charm boss monsters. Charm 6 Hekatonchier's from Cave of Trials 5 if possible (if you are unable to get 6, get a few Chimeras to replace the ones you are missing). Then have Prier, Eclaire and Homard attack these 6 monsters over and over again. They should each be around level 200 or so, maybe 300, with the best attack gear you can get them. Once you have reached this point, its time to gets your first 'power pet'. You can not directly purify Baal or any of his minions, so you need weapons or armor that do it. Sexy Lingerie works well (or anything else with a high Purify%). Put them on someone who you find to be your weakest attacker (Homard will probably the most powerful, with Burning Soul). Check the Gorgons stats. You technically want them as low as possible, though if you can defeat her with them higher thats fine. Ideally you want her to have around 70,000 HP (or lower) and less then 10,000 defense. Its possible to do it with more though. Braveheart your characters up and its time to make some allies. Have the person with the Sexy Lingerie directly attack the Gorgon, and they will probably end up dead afterwards. Check the Gorgon, and if she checks "Will Convert no matter what" then its time to kill her. If she does not check that, then run away and do it again. If done correctly (Burning Soul should almost one hit her, if not one hit her) then you will have a level 1500 ally. Save your game, and its time to get a brand new level 2000 ally. You will need to do a bit more level building at this point. Ok scratch that, a lot more. Homard is really the only one that needs to be levelled up, but I do suggest having more then one character levelled. We are now going to kill Baal. Homard needs to be at least level 400 to damage Baal, and you need at least 3- 4 people casting Braveheart on him. But before you attack Baal, have the Gorgon (whom you recruited) equipped with a Purify% item. Have her go up to Baal and attack him physically. If she misses, and it doesnt say he will convert, run away and do it again. If he says he will convert, then give Homard the best equipment you have, and have 3-4 characters cast Braveheart on him. Then have him go up go Baal, and use Burning Soul. Because Baal is one of the Demon types that killed his family, his attack will do 10x damage and it should 1 hit Baal and you will get the Robot Suit and a brand new level 2000 ally, the most feared boss in the game, Baal. Now you are ready to get Prier's next title. It will be somewhat challenging with only two characters, so if you want, you can repeat the same process you just did and try to recruit another Baal (it requires you to get very lucky though, since you need Auto-Hit to hit him a second time and Purify him). To defeat 20 500+ Overlords and a 700+ Overlord in a single run, you need to have level 500+ Overlords on your first level. This might require quite a bit of resetting on your part. Once you find 500+ Overlords on your very first Dark World level, proceed through this Dark World killing every monster getting a 100% clear on every level. Use the Gorgon to kill, and sometimes to heal the Baal (or Baals >.>;;;) when necessary. On the later levels you might find the Gorgon gets harmed very easily, so play her far more defensivly, and also, Demon Fist works better then melee attacks at times, since Baal has a huge amount of Magic, it is doubtful that he will run out of MP after 10 levels. If you kill 20+ 500+ Overlords and a 700+ Overlord in a single run, you will be treated to the fall of Prier, and granted the Demon Overlord title, as well as (in my opinion) one of the more useless items in the game, the Light Year Cannon. --- The Light Year Cannon allows you to attack physically from anywhere on the map. This item is useless on stronger monsters since their counters are usually enough to one his you, and you can pass up weaker monsters with the Warp Engine. --- ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ The Completionist Way ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Prepare to spend hours . . . and hours . . . and hours . . . levelling. You need to get 1000+ to safely (I say safely, you can always be risky and try it lower) to defeat this easily. You need to use the base characters you are given, so the easiest way to do this is to Purify a few Gorgons and Baals (from above): You can not directly purify Baal or any of his minions, so you need weapons or armor that do it. Once you feel powerful enough (after probably 120 hours on your memory card, or more) find a Dark World that has Demon Overlords level 500+ on the first floor. Then slaughter everything in your way. When using only your base characters to defeat the Dark World (Part two) you need to spread out and kill as many monsters as possible per round. You need to not skip any levels, and hopfully you have a lot of lures (do not cheat with the Gorgons or Baals!) to draw the enemies from your main characters. Note that the 700+ Overlords are almost twice as powerful as the 500+ Overlords and it may take 2-3 characters to defeat one, if not multiple rounds. Be very careful with them. --- *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* Miscellaneous *-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-*-_-* I hope you enjoyed my guide, and it was a help to you.
