In this respect, a number of small challenges, separate from the main game, exist to test the player and maintain their interest after the career mode is complete. This FAQ concentrates on the constructor challenges, accessed through the 'Constructor' choice on the main menu. This guide offers not tips, nor hints, but cold, hard solutions to the maps. If you are having trouble with a challenge, and have exhausted all your efforts, and simply want to continue to the next one, this FAQ is for you. The fun, however, is in the challenge itself, so if you want to experience the game to its full potential, why not take a short break from the game and then attempt once more, with a new, refreshed, frame of mind, before consulting this FAQ? *THE FOLLOWING SOLUTIONS ARE ALL MY OWN, BUT THE CONSTRUCTOR CHALLENGES HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO HAVE MANY SOLUTIONS. The main aim here is to use the props provided to complete each of the director stunts dotted around the arena, while gaining the highest number of points possible. You do this in constructor mode and can take as much time as you want, and refine your design as you go along. When it comes to actually playing, you can't fail any of the director stunts or you'll have to try again. You have 30 seconds to complete all the stunts and get as many points as are necessary to achieve the star-ranks. Chaining stunts together is the best way to do this. NB: All the 'MY SCORE's were achieved through the methods outlined below them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ========== ===EASY=== ========== [E01] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 01 [CH01] * - 15,000 ** - 20,000 *** - 30,000 **** - 40,000 ***** - 50,000 MY SCORE - 92,942 EDIT MODE: Rotate the car 180 degrees and move it so that it's between the wall and the ramp stunt and is facing both the ramp stunt and the gap stunt. Use the first ramp as the ramp stunt, and then the second ramp and an explosive barrel as the gap stunt. Use another explosive barrel for the close stunt, and then line up the final explosive barrel, and all the black barrels, hay stacks and concrete barriers in a row, near the close stunt. ACTIVE: Drive up the ramp and land. Go through the gap, and then bear right and get close to the barrel. Finally, go in circles around the block of props, getting close enough to score points, and drifting so as not to break the chain until time runs out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 02 [CH02] * - 20,000 ** - 30,000 *** - 40,000 **** - 60,000 ***** - 80,000 MY SCORE - 155,300 EDIT MODE: Place the bike just outside the drift stunt, without rotating it. Put a container at the ground-level close stunt, and a windmill at the aerial one. Put a ramp leading from the ground-level one to the aerial one. Evenly space the remaining two containers between the drift and the low close stunts, and a few trees between the two close stunts. Place the cars and cones in a row near the aerial close stunt. ACTIVE: Drift left and get close to the containers to keep up the chain. Get close to the third and head for the ramp while getting close to the trees. Jump whilst getting close to the windmill in the air. Land, and then circle the cars and cones until time runs out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 03 [CH03] * - 15,000 ** - 25,000 *** - 40,000 **** - 50,000 ***** - 70,000 MY SCORE - 70,293 (but getting a higher one is just a matter of practice =D) EDIT MODE: Move the truck, without rotating it, to the edge of the arena, in line with the nitro and jump stunts. Put the crane so it is in line to get the jump stunt, then a ramp so it is in line for you to jump to the crane. Place 4 of the building facades on either side of the truck, going up to the ramp. Place the 9th facade at a 45 degree angle next to the nitro. Place a train to get the landing zone stunt. Put a ramp leading to the train, and a facade next to the ramp. Then line up the barrels and dumpsters next to the train. ACTIVE: Drive straight between the facades for some gap and close points, up the ramp, and along the crane. Ensure you get the jump stunt, if not, restart, and maybe reposition things slightly. Drift left while getting the nitro, but don't utilise the speed; just tap the X button repeatedly until it wears off, while heading for the ramp. Get close to the facade to keep the chain going, and jump to the train at a low speed. Turn off the train, and then circle the barrels and dumpsters until time runs out. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ |ALTERNATIVE METHOD| +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ This alternative method may very well be a lot better, but I've had no chance to verify it. I'm sure I can trust the contributor, though. =D "Place the truck facing the landing objective (on train), and towards the nitro objective. Place ramp, then place train so you land on the closest car. Then just before the ramp put down 8 barrels to make four gap stunts. e.g. === = ramp :::: = barrels C = car C ::::=== TRAIN Then pull off car on right, and head to nitro, then just after place all signs except 1 in the same gap style. At end slide right, up ramp, crane and over wall, then place dumpsters and near miss them then slide around for rest of time. Did this just now and scored 220,832." A big thanks to 'pale man' for this email contribution! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 04 [CH04] * - 30,000 ** - 70,000 *** - 100,000 **** - 125,000 ***** - 150,000 MY SCORE - 269,770 EDIT MODE: Place the four 'Building 10m's in a row, making sure both 180 stunts are over them. Pick up the car and click R3 to bring it onto the building. Put the car facing one of the 180s, as near as you can put it without you being unable to perform the spin. Place one of the ramps near the two-wheels stunt, and a truck between the car and the ramp. Finally, place the stacks of boxes and hay in a row between the two-wheel stunt and the 180 stunt. ACTIVE: Drive at the 180 stunt and perform it. Get close to the truck to keep the chain going, and go on two wheels through the zone. Keep on two wheels, if you can, until you reach the row of stacks. Get close to them all and perform the other 180 stunt, then circle the stacks until time expires. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =========== ===TOUGH=== =========== [T01] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 05 [CH05] * - 35,000 ** - 65,000 *** - 100,000 **** - 135,000 ***** - 170,000 MY SCORE - 296,330 EDIT MODE: Okay then. Place the kick ramp so that the two-wheels stunt is between it and the gap stunt which is at 9 o'clock if the two-wheels is at 6 and the barrel roll is at 12. Place the car just in front of the ramp. Place a pair of RC cars as the aformentioned gap stunt, both facing the same direction as the ramp. Place the corkscrew ramp facing the roll stunt, just to the left of 12 o'clock. Place a pair of explosive barrels as the 3 o'clock gap stunt. Place three nitros. One just after the two-wheels, one after the first gap stunt, one just before the corkscrew, and one left over. Place another RC car between the two-wheels and the first gap stunt. Place the boxes and cars left over in a row, just after the second gap stunt. ACTIVE: Do two wheels and then immediately hit nitro. Get close to the car and then go through the gap. Hit nitro. Turn right, and line yourself up for the corkscrew. Use the nitro and take off, being sure not to go too fast. Do a barrel roll. Land, drift right and go through the gap. Circle the stuff until time runs out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 06 [CH06] * - 30,000 ** - 55,000 *** - 75,000 **** - 100,000 ***** - 130,000 MY SCORE - 147,128 EDIT MODE: Put the ramp facing the jump stunt and, assuming the jump is 6 o'clock, also facing the 3 o'clock drift stunt. Place the firetruck (!) in front of the ramp, with a nitro between the truck and the ramp. Put a train at 7 o'clock and 4 o'clock. Put a nitro at 5 o'clock. Put a crane at the under stunt at 3 o'clock. It may take a little adjustment to get working. Place the barrels, cars and bus stops next to the 9 o'clock drift stunt, in a line at a 45 degree angle. ACTIVE: Nitro up the ramp and drift left, getting close to the train. Drift through the stunt and get the nitro. Get near to the train and go under the crane. Get near to all the stuff, do a drift in the zone, and then go in circles around the stuff until time expires. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 07 [CH07] * - 25,000 ** - 50,000 *** - 75,000 **** - 90,000 ***** - 125,000 MY SCORE - 141,224 EDIT MODE: Okay. Put the low buildings next to eachother so that the landing zone is just about on it. Then do the same with the high buildings. Put the crane and narrow ramp leading up to the low building, but make sure the crane is close to the close stunt. Put the car at a 45 degree angle, facing the base of the ramp, but in line with the corner of the crane and the close stunt. Put a nitro next to the low landing pad. Put the wide ramp at the far end of the low building. Put the other crane on the higher building, just leaning off the edge so as to be part of the close stunt. Then line up the cars, barriers and barrels in a row on the higher building. ACTIVE: Get close to the crane and then drive forwards. Do a U-turn and go up the crane, slowing as neccesary. Hit the landing pad then nitro towards the next ramp, again slowing as neccesary. Ramp off, hit the second pad. At this point, either turn right and get near to the crane immediately, or go around the block of stuff once first and then do it. Circle the stuff until time expires. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 08 [CH08] * - 35,000 ** - 60,000 *** - 80,000 **** - 120,000 ***** - 145,000 MY SCORE - 300,880 EDIT MODE: This map is very difficult, and this method is very trial-and-error, so you'll have to bear with me on it. Adjust things as you deem fit. Put, facing the lower jump stunt and the gap stunt closest to it, a corkscrew ramp, and then a nitro, and then a container, and then another nitro, and then the car. Put a container at the aformentioned gap, sides parallel with those of the arena. Put a building over the higher jump, with a corkscrew on top, facing it, and a nitro before that ramp. Put the big explosive ramp on the ground, next to the building, on the side nearest the car. Put two containers, the doors just a little apart, on the other gap. Place a fifth container just off the side of the building which the corkscrew ramp faces. Put the dumpsters, boxes and barriers in a row on the far side of the two containers which are next to eachother. ACTIVE: Okay. Go through both nitroes, and the container, activating them. Go off the ramp. You don't need to actually do a barrel roll, but your wheels must go in the right place. Crash into the container to stop yourself then quickly enter and go through. Turn right and go up the explosive ramp, slowly. Turn left and use the nitro. Go up the corkscrew, same thing as before. Drop off the edge of the building and crash into the container here. Get close to some of the support beams of the building as you approach the final gap, and go through. Circle the stuff until time expires. To get the big points, ensure your chain is never broken. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============ ===INSANE=== ============ [I02] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 09 [CH09] * - 20,000 ** - 45,000 *** - 60,000 **** - 80,000 ***** - 120,000 MY SCORE - 485,028 EDIT MODE: This one was very annoying; I completed the whole thing and only then noticed the high up landing pad! I had to start all over again, so here: Okay, for this, instead of doing the 'row of props' thing at the end of the stunt, we'll do it at the beginning. Start with the low building, and align it so that the gap stunt in the air is on it, but also so that one of the poles underneath is set up for the close stunt on the ground. Place two burning barriers for the gap stunt. Also place all the barrels and crates alongside the building, but in such a way that you'll get a gap bonus by going between them and the poles of the building. Place the bike in such a way that you can drive up one side of the row of stuff and then do a U-turn and drive the other way, next to the poles. Also, put a nitro on the close stunt. Put the big building over the landing pad in the sky. Put a burning barrier down for the close stunt, and the gigantic ramp facing back down the arena, with a nitro at its base. Also put a nitro on the landing pad. Finally, place an RC car at the close stunt at the other end of the arena, but angle it towards the gap stunt on the lower building. ACTIVE: Righto. Drive down one end of the row, do a U-turn, drive down the other, get the close stunt and activate your nitro. Go next to the poles as you head under the tall building, and get close to the burning barrier here. Do another U-turn and head up the ramp, using nitro only to sustain your chain, not for speed. Controlling your speed, head off the top of the ramp and land in the zone. Immediately activate your nitro and head off onto the lower building. Slow down, go through the gap and drop off the edge. You should now have a leisurely 5 seconds or so in which to activate the final close stunt. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 10 [CH10] * - 45,000 ** - 85,000 *** - 130,000 **** - 170,000 ***** - 220,000 MY SCORE - 254,318 EDIT MODE: This one is quite fun, so have a few more tries yourself if you feel you can. If not, here's what to do: Put a building between the two lots of two-wheels stunts. Put one of those arch things on each of the two-wheels stunts. Then put another building at the other end of each arch. Finally, put one more building so that it holds the drift stunt, but also has the under stunt just off to its side. Put a crane down so that if you drive off the building, you'll get the under stunt. This may take a few tries, so put the car there until you get it right. Now put the car at the other end of the arena, at the far end of the building there. Put a kick ramp between the car and the two-wheels stunt. Put a tree half-way across the next building, and then another kick ramp on it. Put another tree on the third building, and another on the fourth. Also, line up a container and all the boxes and cones from one end towards the drift stunt. Finally, on the ground, put two containers half-way between the crane and the nitro, rotated towards the crane. ACTIVE: Drive straight ahead and two-wheel over the gap. Get close to the tree to continue the combo, and go two-wheels over the next gap. Get close to the two trees and then close to the container, boxes and cones. Drift in the zone, do a U-turn, and get close to the stuff again. Drive off the edge as close to the crane as possible, and turn right. Go through the containers and activate the nitro. If you have time left over, drive straight and get close to the poles under the building, and finish with a drift. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 11 [CH11] * - 60,000 ** - 110,000 *** - 170,000 **** - 225,000 ***** - 270,000 MY SCORE - 517,552 EDIT MODE: Okay, this is an extremely haphazard, awkward arrangement which is very pushed for time, so you'll probably need to make minor adjustments many times until you succeed. Put a ramp directly in front of the jump stunt, facing the 180 stunt nearest to it. Put a nitro in front of this 180 stunt. Put another nitro about 1/3 of the way between the 180 stunt and the gap stunt. Put three containers in a row at the gap stunt. Put a nitro next to the R180 stunt, on the side closest to the ramp. Put a facade between the ramp and the R180 stunt, and then distribute the remaining facades evenly between the 180 and the gap stunts. Here's where it gets tricky, both to construct and describe. Put the car facing away from the ramp, and in front of the R180, so that the R180 is between the car and the ramp. Put the car on the right hand side of this edge, but not inside the zone itself. Next, directly to the right side of the car, put a barrel. Then continue along with more barrels, then dumpsters, then bus stops, away from the R180 and car. try to align the sides so that if you drive in a straight line, you will neither get further from them nor crash into them. Okay! So try that, refine it slightly, and try it again. For example, try stacking the barrels on top of eachother (using R3, the same as the buildings). ACTIVE: Drive quickly and mercilessly. Go straight, getting close to the objects, then immediately after them make a tight U-turn. Go straight along them again, but do another U-turn to the left, away from the objects, and before the R180 stunt. Reverse and spin around within the zone. Go towards the ramp using the nitro, and get close to the facade to maintain the chain. Jump off the ramp. Do a U-turn in the zone and use the nitro. Get close to the facades and use the second nitro. Go through the gap, and through all three containers. Finally, with the few seconds you hopefully have to spare, do a 180 in the zone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHALLENGE 12 [CH12] * - 25,000 ** - 50,000 *** - 60,000 **** - 80,000 ***** - 100,000 MY SCORE - 716,360 EDIT MODE: The difficulty of this final challenge is mainly in figuring out a good way to organise the props, so again, I implore you to attempt it for a while longer before looking at the guide below. Okay. First off, place the two 30m buildings in an L-shape, with the landing zone in the left part of the L, near the middle. I now resort to ASCII: __ |C | |R | |X |_ |____| X marks the landing spot. R is the large flat ramp, facing the X, and C is the car, facing the ramp. Next is the 20m buildings, again in an L shape, but upside-down in relation to the L above. The landing zone should be in the bottom part. __ | | | |_ | X | |____| About where X is should be the landing zone. Finally, the 10m. This should be in a sort of W shape: __ | | |X |___ |_R| | |P__|_ | X| |___| X Okay, more 'splaining to do. The X's are, as always, landing zones. The R is a short ramp pointed at that X in the upper-left. The P is a pair of rows of barrels and barriers, cutting a path to the ramp. That third X at the bottom is the landing zone on the ground. ACTIVE: Okay, simple enough, but due to all the blind drops this may take some practice. First, drive slowly up the ramp and drop onto the zone. Next, drive left and drop to the second zone. Bear right and drive off the edge to the third zone. Drift right, and go through the rows, up the ramp and into the landing zone. Do a U-turn and get close to the ramp to keep the chain going. Go back through the rows of stuff, turn right and make a final blind drop off the edge into the final landing zone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, that's that then.
