Most Characters will join the "Guild". The Guild is THE place for mercenaries. You can hire mercenaries in every chapter: a Highlevel mercenarie costs more than a Lowlevel mercenarie!! In order to get a mercenarie permanently, you have to fullfill special requirements! WARNING: Dont' relay one mercenaries too much! Some mercenaries like Clifford are already LV.20, they can kill almost every enemie in the early missions without the help of others!! Use them to weaken the enemie, and the finish them of with your weaker units, in order to get the EXP! Why the WARNING, you ask?? Simple: only characters who joined your party permanently are allowed in the final 2 Chapters of the game!!! Special note about Recruiting and Class change: Recruiting characters and Class change is only possible until the End of Chapter 13! A Class change doesn't happen on the battlefield! Another Special Note about "Hire him/her frequently": In order to get a mercenary for sure, the best way is to hire him/her at the beginning of EVERY chapter AND USE him/her as often as possible!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Weapon Skills: There are Shortsword Sword Spear Axe Bow StoneBow Light/Dark/Fire/Wind/Thunder-magic Macesword There's only 1 Sword Skill, but there are 2 different types of Swords: "Normal Swords" and "Largeswords"! Only a few units can equip "Largeswords". Same goes for the Spear-Skill: there's only 1 Spear Skill, but 4 different types of Spear: Normal Spear, Throwing Spear, Lance and Fork. Every unit with the Spear-Skill can use normal Spears and Throwing Spears, but only a few units can use a Lance or a Fork! The "Stonebow"-Skill is for Crossbows and Ballisters! But if your attack doesn't hit, the enemy CAN counterattack... She's the best Lanceknight-Killer in the entire Game! BUT his DEF-Growth is so low, it won't go up for most of the time, and he needs good L-Shields in order to be truly good, but the amount of good buyable L-Shields is limited... A pain to train, but definetly worth it!! Any friendly unit standing near Eniid (in a range of 5 Hex) gains +3% HIT. Slow, but there's a Glitch which boosts his power: deequip all his weapons before moving, then move, and the reequip the weapons, and he can move and attack in the same turn! Very useful in the last chapters, the game is beatable without him, but the last chapters are much much easier with Parouz and his awesome range. She's the only unit with the Mace-Skill, but you can't buy Maces, making this Skill totally useless. Best support unit in the entire game, Critical Hit Rate of Reese becomes 100% (!!!) with every weapon, if Rinette stands near Reese, and every other friendly unit standing near Rinette (in a range of 5 Hex) gains +3% HIT, and +5 DEF in a range of 3 Hex. A: Give the unit with the Horse something to eat, because some food, like "Sinon-Salada" restores the HP of the horse too! The other method is Chris: she has the ability to switch Horse: simply switch the injuried Horse to her! If Chris has an injuried Horse, the HP of this Horse get's "magically" restored in a new chapter! Q: Why should I bother with "Capturing"?? A: In order to capture someone, you have to injury him. An Injury can happen randomly after an attack, or you can inflict it with Weapons like the "Harpoon", with the Spell "Blizzard" or with Arthurs "Knockdown"-Skill If the enemy is heavily injured, a red cross appears above his head, and he's unable to battle. A new option appears, and you can capture him! You'll get every weapon/item he has! In order to get some of the best weapons in the game, capturing is a Must, because the enemy won't drop the Item normally after he got killed... Some Items for the Collector are only available via Capturing! If you capture someone from the "Wanted"-List, your bounty get's DOUBLED! Q: How do I kill those pesky Lanceknights?? A: The best way is to use Ralentia! Most Lanceknights carry only 1 Lance, and no other weapon, and they cannot attack her! If you want to use someone else, always go as close as possible to the Lanceknight, because the damage of the Lanceknight depends of the Movement of the Lanceknight! If the Lanceknight can only approach 1 or 2 Hex, the damage will be very low! A Lanceknight is helpless in close-combat! Q: Which units are considered "Must-Have"? A: IMO Reese, Kramer, Fei, Dowd, Saphira, Parouz, Eniid, Rinette. A Thief and a Archer is also higly recommended.
