O````````````````````````````````````o >-------- b. Author's Note --------< O````````````````````````````````````o This is my first attempt and writing a FAQ/Walkthrough. I hope you find it helpful. If you have any questions, comments, information, or feedback for me, you can email me at SlapHappy4567@sbcglobal.net. As this is my first attempt, please keep any nit picky comments to yourself. I just wanted to produce this for those of you that have the Playstation 2 ver- sion of this game. I've always liked the Rainbow Six games. I have enjoyed playing all of the Rainbow Six Playstation games and have used the Walkthroughs published by others and felt it was time to contribute one of my own. Rainbow Six 3 contains 15 missions. The first thing you may notice different about Rainbow Six 3, is the fact that you don't have the equipping and plan- ning ability common in the previous Rainbow Six games. (Ding is the only character that you have the ability to choose equipment for). This doesn't keep this from being a great game. The campaign mode in Rainbow Six 3, with missions encompassing stealthy recon to disarming bombs and rescuing hostages, should provide the player with enough challenges to keep their interest. I've written this guide for those people who get stuck on levels whether it be because they keep getting killed or just don't know where to go next. I hope that this guide gives some much- needed help. The creative team for Tom Clancy's games should be commended. The AI is better than good. So keep this in mind while playing the game. Because if you must start over, at the beginning of a level, at a checkpoint, etc., keep in mind that the tangos may have moved positions or they may be patrolling where they were stationary before and vice versa. While playing this game and writing the walkthrough, I played each section several times to make sure that I was giving you correct information and found that changes do occur. Therefore, if you are using this walkthrough, bear in mind that some things may be a little out of place or not acting in the manner portrayed here. Several times throughout this guide, I will refer to what I call the Peek and Duck method. Peek and Duck is what I will do around blind corners and through doorways. Peek out and Duck back. You get a picture of what awaits you, and hopefully it will keep you from running headlong into a fusilade of bullets. If tangos are lying in wait, you can zero in and take them out easily. If they start firing at you, duck back and let them fire. When they reload, peek back out and take them down. Hopefully, I have pinpointed where all of the grenade tossers are so you can avoid them. Just a quick side note, I have not attempted to play online or with voice commands so unfortunately this Walkthrough will not give you any help in those areas. I did however include a list of voice commands in Section V of this guide. _____ _______________________________________ _____ / \ / \ / \ < II. ><><><><>< G A M E B A S I C S ><><><><><>< II. > \_____/ \_______________________________________/ \_____/ O````````````````````````````````````O >---------- a. The Story ----------< O````````````````````````````````````O The year is 2007, and the world stands on the brink of a terrifying global conflict. As the United States is caught in an embargo-induced oil crisis, terrorist attacks against American interests - and citizens - escalate. Venezuela, which still supplies the United States with oil, also becomes a target. As unrest grows in America, protests rock the streets of Caracas. And while the shadow of terror looms, madmen plot even greater acts of murder and destruction. No place is safe, no border secure in this hour of fear. Only one bulwark stands between the world and the threats that now face it: Rainbow, an international task force dedicated to combating terrorism in all its forms. A top-secret organization consisting of the best field operatives the United Nations has to offer, Rainbow is the most potent weapon in the world's arsenal. Backed by the most sophisticated technology available and trained to the limits of human capability, they are our best hope in the was against terror. They may be our last. O````````````````````````````````````O >-------- b. Team Rainbow ---------< O````````````````````````````````````O In Rainbow Six 3, you are Ding Chavez, the leader of an elite, international anti-terrorist unit code-named Rainbow. Your mission: to neutralize terrorists and save the world. Remember, when Rainbow gets called in it's because it's an extremely important mission and all other options have been exhausted ... Hit 'em hard and hit 'em fast! While there are over a half-dozen four-man teams in Rainbow, you only need to be concerned with your boss and the members of Team 1...your team. To the left of your name is your current Stance (standing or crouching). Just below your name are your Heart Rate and Health. You have four bars of Health at the beginning of each mission. If you lose all four, you are dead and automatically fail the mission. When your Health gets low, it's a good idea to use your team more aggressively and take fewer chances yourself. WEAPON INFORMATION Information regarding the current weapon/object appears below your Heart Rate. These include weapon/object name, the number of bullets in the weapon/magazine, a graphic depicting the percentage ammunition remaining in the weapon, and the number of extra bullets/magazines available. In the center of the screen is the targeting reticule, which consists of a circle and a center dot. As you move, the circle shrinks to reflect your loss of accuracy. When you stop moving, the circle expands back to its largest size. The moral of the story is that it's easier to hit a target if you're not moving. TEAM INFORMATION Depending on the mission, John Clark can assign up to three other operatives to support you. Team Health is in the bottom center of the screen and works exactly like your own. Below each Health indicator is an Operative Name, which blinks when that operative is talking. Above the Health indicator is the Team Current Action, which describes what they are currently doing. MINI-MAP In the lower right of your screen is the Mini-Map. The Mini-Map shows you the area immediately around you and helps you navigate the mission areas. If your current objective is within the map display area, it appears as a small Objective icon (X). If it is not in view, an arrow appears along the edge of the map to help you find it. Teammate icons help you keep track of your teammates during missions. Whenever a terrorist takes out one of your teammates, your teammate is replaced with a Man Down icon [X], letting you know where he fell. O````````````````````````````````````O >--------- e. How to Play ---------< O````````````````````````````````````O THE ENVIRONMENT You play the part of Ding Chavez, an elite Rainbow counter-terrorism operative trained to the limits of human capabilities. You lead a team of four operatives, and your mission is to neutralize terrorists and save the world. To keep you identities hidden, your only official link to the outside world is through John Clark, you boss. He receives requests from governments around the world for your very special services and subsequently dispatches you on missions. Rainbow only gets called after all other options have been exhausted on situations and international importance. That means when you go in, hit hard and fast! Besides you and your teams, there are two other types of people in the world: Terrorists and Hostages. Terrorists, or "tangos," are the bad guys. The rules for dealing with terrorists are simple and straightforward. Shoot anyone with a gun and secure anyone without one. Dealing with hostages requires more caution. If a hostage dies, you automatically fail the mission, so when entering an area with a hostage, you must quickly identify friend from foe. Some tangos will have orders to execute hostages at the first sign of trouble so you'll have to deal with them quickly. LOOKING AND MOVING AROUND To look around, simply move the right joystick. To move around the world, use the left joystick. Moving fast greatly increases the amount of noise you make and also makes shooting much more difficult. PEEKING AND CHANGING STANCE Peeking is extremely useful for looking around objects without completely exposing yourself to enemy fire. Peek using the D-pad left and D-pad right buttons. When you're trying to avoid being shot or detected, it also helps to minimize your Stance. You can toggle between standing and crouching by pressing the left joystick. This causes you to move slower but you make less noise and provide enemies with a smaller target to shoot at. NIGHT AND THERMAL VISION Night vision allows you to see clearly in the dark. Press the Triangle button once to toggle night vision on. It depicts the world as shades of black and green. Thermal vision is useful for highlighting heat signatures, such as people, and hot objects like fires. Press the Triangle button again to switch to Thermal Vision. Thermal vision also lets you see through some doors and objects, which makes it extremely useful during Recon missions. Press the Triangle button again to return to normal vision. `-`-`-`-`-`-`-`-`-` INTERACTION `-`-`-`-`-`-`-`-`-` In Rainbow Six 3, interacting with your environment allows you to do everything from opening doors, to securing surrendered terrorists and hostages. To interact with your environment, move near to and look at an area/object you can interact with. When a Player Action icon appears in the bottom center of the screen, press the (X) button to perform the action the icon represents. You can tell difference between the action and team icon by brackets. If the center icon brackets, it is a team icon. Without brackets, it is an action icon. If the action involves a door, you also have two other controls you can use: Fluid Open and Close. To fluidly open a door, press the up directional button. To fluidly close a door, press the down directional button. ORDERERING YOUR TEAM Default Orders To order you team to interact with the environment, simply look at the object/ area where you want them to do something. When a Team Action icon appears in the bottom center of the screen, press the (X) button to order your team to perform the default action. You will know it is a Team Action icon by the brackets around it (without brackets, it would be a Player Action). QUICK ORDER INTERFACE (QOI) You can also press and hold the (X) button to display the Quick Order Inter- face, which contains a complete list of available actions. These include: Open & Clear; Open, Frag & Clear; Open, Flash & Clear; Breach & Clear. To issue an order in the Quick Order Interface, press the corresponding direction on the D-Pad, or use the left joystick. ZULU AND CLEAR TOGGLES Some locations have more than four orders associated with them and use the Zulu Order (L1 button while in the Quick Order Interface) and Clear Order (R1 button while in the Quick Order Interface) toggles. The Zulu order toggle tells the team to wait to execute the order until you give them the Zulu Go- Code (R2 button). This allow you to be somewhere else when the team performs the order, which means you can cover/enter a second door into an area, or simply hang back and let the team clear an area, which is useful if your lifeline is a little low. The Clear Order toggle tells the team to rush into the room and engage all tangos after performing the order. Basically it is the default in the Quick Order Interface. Using Voice Orders (I have never used this feature) With a USB headset connected to your PlayStation 2 console, you can order your team using the voice commands in the 'Voice Commands' Addendum. Simply press the L2 button and say the right order (orders appear in the QOI). "Go, Go, Go" executes the default order for any situation. HOLD, REGROUP AND ZULU Whenever your team is not following you, you can order them to regroup. At any time, you can tell your team to hold and they will seek cover near their current location. You can issue either of these orders by voice or by pressing the Team Hold/Regroup button (Triangle button). If your team is waiting for you to issue the Zulu Go-code, you can issue the order by saying, "Zulu" or "Zulu go" using you USB headset, or by pressing the R2 button. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ USING YOUR WEAPON ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ SWITCHING BETWEEM WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT To bring up the Inventory menu, press and hold the L1 button. To select a piece of gear, simply choose the corresponding direction your left joystick or with the directional buttons. You can also quick switch between your primary and secondary weapon by just pressing (without holding) the L1 button. RETICLE The reticule consists of a circle and a center dot. All you have to do to hit a terrorist is to put the center of his chest or his head inside the circle or put the center dot on any part of his body. To hit any other object, you need to put the center dot on it. FIRING To fire your currently selected weapon, simply press the R1 button. If the weapon is an automatic, it will continue to fire until you release the button. If it isn't, it will only fire a single shot with each button press. When you fire, the screen jumps, and the smoke and flash from the weapon blind you. So whenever possible, fire short bursts of three to five rounds. RELOADING To reload your weapon, press the (O) button. This removes the current magazine from the weapon and replaces it with another. Try to reload whenever you get a chance, because there's nothing worse than being in the middle of a firefight and running out of ammunition. ZOOMING You can use the zoom of your weapon by pressing the right joystick. This gives you a better view of your target, but slows down your looking/turning speed. Sniper rifles, unlike other weapons, have two zoom levels. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ OTHER EQUIPMENT ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Besides firearms, there are a number of different items you can take into missions. To bring up the Inventory menu, press and hold the L1 button. To select a piece of gear, simply press the corresponding direction on the D-pad, or left joystick. You can also Quick Switch between your primary and secondary weapon by pressing the L1 button. GAS MASK A Gas Mask is also available that, when worn, negates the effects of tear gas grenades and is always worn when carried. EXPLOSIVE CHARGES AND MINES There are three different types of explosives in Rainbow Six 3: Breaching Charges, Remote Charges, and Claymore Mines. Breaching Charges destroy doors and temporarily stun those on the other side. But beware - anyone standing close to the door will receive damage. To place a Breaching Charge, look closely at a door and when the Place Charge reticule appears, press the R1 button. After you place the charge, a detonator appears in your hand, allowing you to detonate at any time or on command. Remote Charges and Claymore Mines deploy on the ground near your feet when you press the R1 button. Remote Charges are basically Frag grenades that you detonate on command, while Claymore Mines are similar, but only inflict damage to their front. GRENADES There are five grenades to choose from in Rainbow Six 3: Frag - Explodes, inflicting damage. Flash Bang - Temporarily disables anyone near the blast. Gas - Creates a cloud of toxic gas that temporarily incapacitates anyone not wearing a gas mask. Smoke - Creates a large cloud of white smoke. White Phosphorus (WP) - Creates a small, white cloud and explodes, burning everything nearby. To throw a grenade, simply look in the desired direction and press the R1 button. You'll have to get used to judging the range, so practice throwing a few before you get into combat. You can also pull and hold the R1 button to pull the pin on the grenade but not throw it. As soon as you release the button, you throw the grenade. M203 GRENADE LAUNCHER The M203 Grenade Launcher is an incredibly powerful weapon and must be used with caution. Its grenades are similar to the handheld ones, but are not quite as effective. When fired, they explode on contact. There are four different rounds available for this weapon: High Explosive (HE) - Explodes on contact, inflicting damage. Gas - Explodes on contact, creating a cloud of toxic smoke. Smoke - Creates a large cloud of white smoke. Red Phosphorus (RP) - Creates a small cloud of red smoke and explodes, burning everything nearby. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ MISC. INFORMATION ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ IN-GAME SAVES Rainbow Six 3 will ask you regularly to save your progress. During the game, you will reach checkpoints that allow you to not have to restart the entire mission if you fail. The number of checkpoints will change according to the level of difficulty you are playing. The checkpoints in this guide are based on playing at the Veteran. FINISHING A MISSION: DEBRIEFING After you finish a mission, whether you fail or succeed, you proceed to the Debriefing screen. This screen has the statistics of each operative, including health, kills, hit percentage, and rounds on target. Retry From You can reattempt the mission by selecting one of the options on the left side of the screen. Insertion: Reloads the mission from the beginning of the part of the mission you are in. Briefing: Goes back to the Mission Planning computer, where you can reselect your gear and weapons. Main Menu: If you wish to abort your mission, click on the Main Menu to return to the Main Menu. _____ ______________________________________ _____ / \ / \ / \ < III. ><><><><>< T I P S & T R I C K S ><><><><><>< III. > \_____/ \______________________________________/ \_____/ O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O >-------- a. Gameplay Tips --------< O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O - For the missions I have played to date, if played as portrayed in this FAQ, I never had a problem running out of ammo and, except for grenades, I only used the primary weapon. Just make sure you reload when possible. More below on ammo. - Don't worry about aiming the center dot directly at a terrorist you want to hit. The game has sort of a smart aiming system, meaning that if any part of a terrorist is within the surrounding circle, he'll get hit. - Reload whenever you have an opportunity and are in need. You never want to be caught with an empty clip while being fired upon. Whenever you reload, and the magazine isn't completely empty, it is placed back in your invent- ory, whereas an empty magazine will be discarded. Simply put, the game does not treat your ammo as one big pile of bullets, but rather as a collection of magazines, each with their own inventory of bullets. Only completely empty magazines are dropped and discarded. Magazines which still contain bullets when you reload are placed in the magazine inventory. So if you go around reloading every time you fire some bullets, you will finally end up with lots of half full mags." - Flash bang grenades are good assets to bring along in the single player game as well as in multiplayer. Whenever you aren't sure if an enemy lurks around a corner, just lob a flash bang grenade in that direction to blind any potential enemies and then proceed. - When you are low on health, try not to be the leader. For instance, have the rest of your team open and clear areas before you follow them in and have them check out areas before you go. Remember, your teammates can die without any consequences, but if you die, the mission is over. - When approaching closed doors, use Thermal Vision. It may keep you from walking into a barrage of bullets. However, the tangos don't use this method and you can watch them open the door and pick them off instead. - When approaching open doorways, corners, etc use what I call the Peek and Duck Method. Peek around and duck back, if a terrorist starts firing odds are that he won't hit you. When he has to change magazines, peek around and send him to Hell. - A low profile limits the chance of you getting hit. Crouching gives you the lowest profile. - The best tip I can give is: Be Patient. Don't rush into rooms, around corners, etc. Take the time to be safe. Or just send the team in. If they die, oh well. If you die, the mission is over. - When approaching closed doors, stand to the side of the door before you open it. This gives you a chance to peek around the doorframe to check for tangos. If you just open the door and stand in the doorway, your chances of survival are slim and none with slim already headed out of town. - I used the default weapon, except where noted within the FAQ. If I switched weapons, I switched to the M16A2. I like the zoom capability, 3.5x, also the damage dealt is one of the highest of the available weapons. One or two bullets and the tangos are down. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O >--------- b. Cheat Codes ---------< O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o If anyone has Cheat codes for the Playstation 2 version, please DO NOT send them to me. I think the use of cheat codes, is...well...CHEATING. I do not use them and will not encourage others to use them, therefore none will be part of this Walkthrough. Now you may be asking why use a Walkthrough but not Cheat codes. Well, the reason is simple. Walkthroughs should be written and used for the purpose of getting a person through a tough section of the game. I have several games that I can't complete because there is one or more sections that just beat my brains out. In that instance, if available, I will turn to a walkthrough to get me past that section. I don't use a walkthrough from beginning to end to defeat the game, however. If your opinion differs from mine, please keep it to yourself. I don't need to hear it. I wrote this FAQ, so my opinion is the only one that counts here. _____ _______________________________________ _____ / \ / \ / \ < IV. ><><><><>< C A M P A I G N ><><><><><>< IV. > \_____/ \_______________________________________/ \_____/ ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ WALKTHROUGH ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o >---------- Team Training -----------< o~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~o _________________ ___________________/ BRIEFING TEXT \___________________ /---------------------------------------------------------\ | OBJECTIVE: Rescue hostages | | LOCATION: Training Warehouse | | TIME: 2007/10/15 - 2112 | |---------------------------------------------------------| | Okay Domingo, before I can put your team back on | | operational status, I need you to complete a test | | mission. Once the baddies are toast, go downstairs and give the team a Zulu 'Open and Clear' on the door at the other end of the room, you may wait and see if a tango enters the door first. Go out the other door in the room and follow the path around until you see the church across the street. Give the Zulu-Go code and then snipe the tango in the upper window. Peek around the building to the left and erase the sniper. Let the team clean up the street. Proceed across the street to the side door of the church. Checkpoint. There will be a door to your right. Now before entering, throw a smoke grenade a few meters into the hallway and then give it some time to create a good smoke barrier for you. Now enter the hallway with your Thermal Vision (Triangle button) a two enemies will come running out of doorways on left side of the hallway, so take them out as you see their heat signatures. Thanks to your smoke, they won't even know that you're there. Now look through one of the windows to the left and shoot down the terrorist in the area outside. Have the team 'Open and Clear' the doorway on the right. Note: I think the team winds up drawing more fire with a 'Flash and Clear' than they do with a 'Open and Clear' order. Which is why I use the 'Open and Clear'. However you are free to choose whichever method that works best for you. You should notice a bookshelf that's been pushed aside on the left near the far wall. Head through here and down the stairs into a dark room. There aren't any enemies in here, but switch on your Night Vision (Triangle button) since it can be hard to see. Make your way under the archway to the right as you get off the stairs to another large room, and then cautiously move towards the next archway. A patrolling tango should wander into your sights. Dispatch him with extreme prejudice. Pause at the next archway, lob a smoke grenade into the next room. Once the cloud forms, move into position to take out the tango across the room next to hostage, Thermal Imaging will help you lock onto body heat. Take out the baddie closer to you. It is crucial that all tangos be killed quickly, if they are allowed to blow up the white tank next to the roll-up door the hostage dies and the mission is over. So take the team and storm the area. Tangos with RPGs hide behind the barrels across from the roll-up door. If that isn't enough, half-way through the battle the roll-up door opens and another wave of tangos, yes they too have RPGs, lay in wait. Once all the tangos lay on the ground secure the hostage. Once through the door, go around the corner and start firing and when your grenades explode, the tangos start running around on fire until they drop. Hey, did anyone remember the wieners and marshmallows? The thing you want to keep in mind, STAY AWAY from the white tank next to the roll-up door. If an RPG, or one of your grenades if you are using the M203, hits it the mission is over. As you move towards the doorway, beware of a grenade chucker that is behind row of crates on your left. Once his is toast, continue to the door at the far right end of the room. If you wait a terrorist may open the door, blast him if he does. Enter the door and look at the door to your right. If it is closed wait for the tango to open it and eliminate him. If it is open, take down the tango, sometime you won't see him until after the checkpoint. Enter the hall to reach the first checkpoint. There may be a tango behind the next door. Head through the door, up the stairs and through the door at the top. Watch the open door as you move across the room as a tango will run by. If you aren't fast enough to take him out, peek through the doorway to your left and gun him down. Watch for another to come through the door behind him. Once you have the room clear, have the team 'Open and Clear' the door at the far end of the room. Move to the door to the right of the door you entered, open the door and drop the terrorist, sometimes it is a single patroller other times it is a pair. Enter the room and go around the corner to the door on your right. I leave the team where they are for this part. Open the far door, ignore the door to right, and creep into the room. Keep an eye on the left end of the walkway across the room, four tangos will come running and you can make easy work of them. Now use the walkway and make your way around the room picking off bad guys as you see them. Once the room is clear, there is a ladder at the far side of the room if you used the walkway. Take it down to the floor. If you use the ladder, make your way back towards where you entered the room. You will find a cluster of barrels in front of the door, disarm the bomb attached to the barrels. If you don't use the ladder, go back to the door you entered from and back into the room, and through the door to the left, the door you ignored earlier. Head down the stairs and through the door to the barrels directly in front of you. Disarm the bomb attached to the barrels. o-------------------------------------o | Objective Completed: Defuse bomb. | o-------------------------------------o o-----------------------------------o | New Objective: Defuse 2nd bomb. | o-----------------------------------o Clark tells you the second bomb is below you near a machine room. Head back through the door and down the stairs to your right, have the team rejoin (Square). Go all the way down and through the door. Checkpoint. Once you have control, move around the end the machinery to the gap on your left. Approach the door with Thermal Vision (Triangle), watch the tango open the door and take him out. Turn around and have team clear the open door across from you. Enter the room and approach the barrels in the center, as you do, two doors in the ceiling open to reveal an ambush. Take down the terrorists and defuse the bomb. o-----------------------------------------o | Objective Completed: Defuse 2nd bomb. | o-----------------------------------------o o-----------------------------------o | New Objective: Defuse 3rd bomb. | o-----------------------------------o Clark: 'The third bomb is planted below the ship's hull. Find it FAST!' Regroup (Square) the team and head back out of the room. Head through the open door on your right. Make a left and proceed down the hallway. Before you reach the stairs on your left the door in front and to the rear of you will open. Dispatch the tangos and head for the stairs. Checkpoint. Peek down the stairs and take out the tango. Move down the stairs. Peek through the door to your left and a tango hides behind the crate. Have the team move into the room and take down the tangos. Peek around the crates in front of the door and help the team. Now, GET MOVING, have you noticed the timer counting down above your mini-map? Move quickly and cautiously, I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but the clock IS ticking. Watch for another door to open above and in front you. Go through the door at the end of the room and straight through to the next room. Several tangos are waiting for you, including behind the crates to your right. Once all terrorists are eliminated, again watch for an overhead door, to the left of the door you entered. Head for the barrel group under the ship and defuse the bomb. o-----------------------------------------o | MISSION SUCCESSFUL | | Objective Completed: Defuse 3rd bomb. | o-----------------------------------------o ___________________ __________________/ DEBRIEFING TEXT \__________________ /---------------------------------------------------------\ | The stakes got a lot higher as soon as the threat hit | | Venezuelan soil. Have the team hold just inside the room. Continue to the double doors, ignore the single door to the right and open the left side door and BACK UP. I just back up toward the desk, and let the team have some fun. Once the door is open the shooting starts, with a grenade being thrown your way, let the team take care of the tangos in the hall. Watch the second door on the right, when the shooting starts a tango will come running out and toss a grenade at the double doors, hence the warning to back up. Eliminate him and the buddy that follow him, sometimes he gets caught in the blast of the first grenade, sometimes you have to go in and get them. Once all threats have been eliminated, head down the hall and to the left. Once you turn the corner quickly take down the tango or you will have to deal with him later. If the door to the right is open, watch for two tangos to walk into your sights. If it is closed, open it and wait for the tangos to cross the doorway in front of you, one of them may throw a grenade. Head in and to the left to the next door. Crouch to the right of it and open the door. A tango will almost be in your gun sights, take him out. Watch for double doors at the other end of the room to open and two tangos to run in. Now equip a frag grenade and toss it over the left end of the desk directly in front of the door. When the grenade is tossed, up to three tangos may run from behind the desk and you can pick them off, hopefully you catch one or two in the blast. If they don't all run out, stay hidden and pick them off over the dividers. Now head toward the double doors at the other end of the room. Once through the door, stay against the right wall, as you approach the corner, a set of double doors are disintegrated by a grenade, back up into the hall. Watch for a tango to peek around the corner, when he does send him on his way. Ease back towards the corner and take out the tango in the doorway, sometimes he runs back into the room and you have to peek into the room and take him out. There may also be one at the end of the row of desks to the right. Peek into the room behind the row of desks, three to five tangos will come into sight from the right, take them out. When you don't see anymore come into sight, head to the end of the row of desks and peek out and drop two or three more tangos, one of which may come through the door at the end of the room. Head through the door, turn left. At the corner peek out and take out the baddie at the other end of the room. Now move across and behind the first column. Peek out to the right and ease out until you can see the tango behind the second column, take him out. Open the doors at the end of the room and take out the tango at the top of the stairs. Head upstairs. Checkpoint. Continue up the stairs. Open the door and waste the tango. I think it is easiest if do a quick peek, he will start firing. When he changes clips, peek out and waste him. Clark mentions that you should check out a house in the middle of town where the informant was last known to be. I had Price hold. Peek around the first corner and take out the tango at the bottom of the stairs, his back is turned and he never sees you. Hug the left wall, and move towards the stairs. When the you see the next bad guy, take care of business. Watch the doorway because sometimes the second tango will come through there instead. Move down the stairs, hugging the right wall. At the bottom, to your left, you will see a tango performing his own Peek and Duck trying to draw a bead on you. Take him out. Move towards where the last tango fell and peek around the corner. Another baddie waits in the upper left window to take you out. The Peek and Duck method will take care of him easily. Proceed through the doorway across from you, and watch the door to your left. If you fire a round through the door, you will see the tango start moving and you can easily take him out, sometimes he will run into the room and try to hide behind the overturned bookcase. Once he is down, move to the door and peek into the next doorway where another tango may be standing. Now peek around the door frame, watch for a terrorist to walk into your gun sights. There is a tango in the window of the house across the street. Peek and duck because as soon as he sees you he fires. Once he is down, two more run to the window from the left. If you miss one of them, don't worry. Move into the room and remain behind the stove that is in the middle of the room. Peek and Duck to the right to take out the tango(s) in the other window. As you move around the stove, keep an eye on the window just past the door, if you line up just right you can take down another tango in another window across the street. Once the tangos across the street have been taken down, move to the other door. Watch for a tango to open the door, if he does take him down. If he doesn't open the door and he will be at the bottom of the stairs. There may be another tango come to his position either from the left or right. Move down the stairs, and turn around to your left. Peek out and take down the tango waiting down the street. Move towards him. A grenade will explode ahead as you get to his position or just past him. Wait for the grenade to explode. At the next corner, peek and duck to get the tango behind the crate across from you. Continue peeking around and take out the tango patrolling the rooftop next to him. Peek down the street and couple of tangos may be milling around. Watch for one to come from the left. As you approach the crate a tango may run from right to left in front of you, to the door on the left. Either ease up until you can sight in on him or toss a grenade into the room. Either way check the room to your left. If he didn't run past you wait for him to open the door to the right and eliminate him. If neither of those scenarios occurred, open the door on your right. If you aren't quick enough to down the terrorist before he runs into the next room, just ease forward and you will see him popping up and down behind a desk in the next room. Move to the far door and open it. Peek around to your left and drop the baddie. Now back up and wait for the grenades to explode. Now Peek and Duck to the right and take out the tango in the second floor window. Watch for a tango to replace him as you move toward the stairs across from you. Sometimes you can spot and fire on them through the broken fence on the right. One of them is a grenade-tosser. Also watch the open second floor window. Once you reach the end of the wall, turn right and take out any tangos you see. One may be in a window behind the broken fence to your left and behind the van. As you move forward, a RPG will take out the van, and tangos will run in from the right. Continue passed the van and to the right. Proceed down the alley and peek out and take out the baddie. Head up the alley, and open the door on your left. Peek into the room to the left and a tango may be stationed there, if not he is in the room at the far end. Enter the room and do the same thing on the door to your left, one tango patrols under the right balcony and one is next to the tree but will move behind the barrels in front of the door. Enter the court- yard but stay under the balcony. Move around the courtyard to your right. You will find another tango patrolling either down the left balcony or above your entry point. Move to and open the door on the right side of the courtyard. Peek in to the right and drop the tango. Enter the room and move towards his position. Watch for one or two tangos to come from the left as you move towards where he fell. Go around the corner and you will see a window to your left. If you are careful you can aim through the window and the doorway beyond and take down a baddie, if you miss he will run into the open arched window in front of you. Keep an eye on the arched window as a baddie may make his presence there. Make a left passed the window and through the door to your right. As you come to the arched window with a curtain, look up. You will see large weak spot in the ceiling, keep your eye on it. As you get closer to the stairs, the ceiling will cave in and a terrorist is waiting to take you out. Aim at the edge of the hole farthest away from you, unless Price is with you the tango will usually not fire first. Once he is down move up the stairs and through the door. Have Price regroup (Square). There are three tangos around the corner. With your back to the wall opposite the corner, just ease to the right until you can start taking them down. When they are toast, move across the room and through the door. As you move down the hall, watch for a tango to come into sight from the left. Precede all the way down the stairs and through the doorway on the left. Crouch and toggle Night or Thermal Vision (Triangle). Zoom (R3) and target the archway across the sewer, as you approach the next set of stairs a tango will walk across the archway, take him out. When you reach the bottom of the stairs, peek out to the right and drop the tango. Watch for a buddy to walk to his position, sometimes he will walk down the sewer towards you, and for a second to walk to the left side of the tunnel farther down. Take out the farthest one first, as he tends to run, then take out the closer one. Watch for another tango to take up the position of the farthest tango, if he doesn't, don't worry you will find him later. Now proceed across the sewer and up the stairs. Head into the tunnel to the right and duck back out and around the hide to the right side. Peek down the tunnel and take out the tango you may have seen roll in from the right and crouch on the left side of the tunnel. A second tango will be on the right side of the stack of crates behind him. Now the third one can be in a couple of different places. As you proceed down the tunnel and approach the crates, he may come out from behind them. If not, zoom (R3) down the tunnel behind the stack and shoot the red barrel, you may catch him in the explosion. If that didn't take him out, if you continue down the tunnel he will come into sight from the right. All of this assumes that you didn't take him out in the sewer. If you took out four tangos in the sewer, disregard this section. Now proceed up the stairs to the closed door. Regroup the team (Square) enroute. o-----------------------------------------------------------------o | Objective Completed: Use the sewers to infiltrate the prison. | o-----------------------------------------------------------------o o------------------------------------------o | New Objective: Secure the shower area. | o------------------------------------------o You know the shower scene in the movie The Rock, the one where all soldiers got killed by the terrorists from above. Well this is the same kind of thing here. To say proceed with caution would be putting it mildly. Open the door, while the objective tags are being dispayed, take a moment to survey the room from the doorway. To your right is a closed door, you can't do anything with it for now. Above the door is a window. Across the shower room are four arched windows, the shower stalls are in the middle of the room to your left. There is also a walkway above you also with four archs. Now that you have the layout, let's proceed. Hide to the right of the doorway, have the team hold on the stairs. Look through the second arch from the left across the room. Aim just to the right of the left column, and fire a round, watch the tango walk into your sights and take him out. Now watch the tangos come running from both right and left end of the walkway. I can't give you a good count because it changed every time I played it, as few as four and as many as seven. Once it appears that no more are coming you may choose to fire a round at both the left and right end of the walkway, if there are any more, they will show themselves. Now move into the room and put your back to the closed door and edge down the wall. Watch the arch right above the door and the third arch down as tangos will be waiting to take you out. I never found more than three tangos on the walkway above the door. Once they are gone, hug the wall with door that you entered from and back down the wall away from the door, watch the window above the closed door as two or three tangos are hiding there. Once those tangos are toast, watch the closed door as it will open and reveal two to three tangos. Take them out. Peek through the door to the left, and you may spot a tango through the door in the next room. Once he is gone, proceed through the room to the door to the left. Whether it is open or closed, there is a tango on the other side, so peek out and take him down. Now proceed through the next door and up the stairs, peek out at the top as there may be more tangos on the walkway across from you. If there are, you know what to do. Also watch the window at the other end of the shower room. Proceed around the walkway and once you reach a position that will roughly coincide with your entry point to the shower room you will here from Clark. Keep moving forward until you reached a closed door. Checkpoint. o------------------------------------------------o | Objective Completed: Secure the shower area. | o------------------------------------------------o o-------------------------------------o | New Objective: Secure first hostage.| o-------------------------------------o After the save, have the team hold (Square), and proceed down the stairs and through both the single and double doors. Peek around the corner and you will see a tango either right in top of you or patrolling near the hostage, take him out before he sees you because he will shoot the hostage if he does. Then take out the terrorist at the other end of the room. Watch for tangos to come running from the left, they don't always but watch just the same. Now aim at the floor under the walkway down the left side of the cellblock and hit the X button, which will order the team to that position, you will need them there later. Stay under the second tier walkway to the right of the door you entered from and cross the cellblock and hide behind the upright table against the column. Peek out to either side and you will find tangos at the other end of the room on the second and third tier. The third floor is a single, the second floor is usually a pair. Take them out. Once you do tangos come running. Let the team cover the first floor, you watch the second tier. One or two tangos replace the ones you shot, and one to three will try to run down the walkway and take up a position across from you. Once they are all down, turn around and look at the second floor tier behind you and waste the tango(s) waiting there. Proceed to and secure the hostage. o----------------------------------------------o | Objective Completed: Secure first hostage. | o----------------------------------------------o o--------------------------------------o | New Objective: Secure second hostage.| o--------------------------------------o Walk back towards the door you entered from and you will see a closed door to your right as you appoach the end of the cellblock. Open it and proceed through the door and up the stairs. Once through the door, turn left and duck into the first cell. Peek through the bars to the right and find a tango on the third tier walkway. Eliminate him. Regroup (Square) and proceed down the walkway and through the door. Proceed down the stairs and through the door at the bottom and the double door across from you. Have the team hold (Square) before you go through the single door around the corner. Proceed up the stairs and peek through the window at the top. Remove the two tangos that you can see down on the first floor, watch for a third to enter the room via the double doors on the left side of the room. Proceed through the door on the other side of the window. Peek through the window across the cellblock and eliminate the tango on the second tier. Aim your reticule at the hostage and push the X button to have the team secure the hostage. o--------------------------------------------o | MISSION SUCCESSFUL | | Objective Completed: Secure second hostage.| o--------------------------------------------o ___________________ __________________/ DEBRIEFING TEXT \__________________ /---------------------------------------------------------\ | I just finished debriefing Crespo. As you approach the bottom of the stairs to your right you will hear a grenade being thrown, now watch both of the you need to watch the roof past the stairs and the roof to the left of you. The tango on the roof to the left of you throws a grenade but he will take longer to get a shot off at you. The tango that may appear on the roof of the building past the stairs is a quicker shot so take him down first. Then take out the grenade thrower. Continue on up the stairs and wait at the top. Toggle Thermal Vision (Triangle) and wait for the tango to open the door. Shoot down the terrorists as they appear in front of you, there are a total of four to five tangos in this room. You may need to peek into the right to get the last couple. Move across the room and through the door. Hunker down to the right of the next door and open it. There are two tangos in this room for you to take out. Cross the room to the next door. Checkpoint. After the save, have the team hold (Square). Toggle Thermal Vision (Triangle), move toward the door across the room and watch a tango open the door, take him out. Peek around the door frame to the right and drop another one. Now aim at the red barrel down on the first floor and wait for a tango to patrol next to it. When he does, shoot the barrel and roast him. If you don't see him, shoot the barrel and you may take him out, or drop a grenade and he will run to where you can see him. You may have to do the Peek and Duck if he sees you first. Now move to the window on your left. I crouch against the railing while peeking through the window and across the room, there are two tangos there that start firing as soon as they see you. Once they are down, approach the window but stay hidden. Peek and Duck to spot the tango on the floor below next to the forklift, when he is down another baddie may approach his position. Now move across the window until you can see a red barrel next to the first set of shelves and shoot it. There was a tango hiding next to it. Keep an eye on the door on the other side of the room you are in as tangos may start coming in from there. Wait and two to four tangos will come through the door. If seems to be taking awhile shoot the phone next to the door and that will start them coming your way. Enter the door next to the window and check the floor below for any stragglers, you should have gotten all of them by now though. Now walk around to the door all the tangos came through and proceed down the hallway. Open the next door, and there may be another two tangos there depend- ing on how many you took down coming through the door at the other end of the hallway. Move through this room and through the next doorway. Open the door to your right. Crouch and slowly move forward, there is a tango at the bottom of the stairs. Take him down. As you move towards the stairs another two tangos move into his position. Move down the stairs, to the right, down the stairs and through the door on the right. Watch for two tangos to the left of the barrel and possibly as sniper on the roof above them. Also one to three tangos will stroll into sight from the right, one on the platform and the others closer to you. Once it gets quiet, turn 180 degrees and take out the sniper on the roof. He has two buddies that patrol with him so make sure you get them all. Once it is clear aim down towards the platform and hit the X button and the team will go clear the courtyard. Once it is clear, hug the wall across from the door and proceed forward, when you enter the lean-to the roll-up door in front of you on the left will open. Wait for the tangos to come strolling into sight. After two or three have been out, edge to and peek into the room and take out the tangos on the top shelves on the right side of the room, two or three. There may be a tango hunkered behind a crate at the other end of this row shelves. There is a tango on the top shelf in the middle of the room. Carefully move into and across the room. And to those that have submitted FAQs/Walkthroughs that I have used in the past. Hopefully, I have made this one as helpful, as other have made theirs. ~-~-~-~ Ubisoft ~-~-~-~ I'd like to thank the developers of the game for creating yet another Tom Clancy shooter providing me and others with a fun, realistic, anti-terrorist experience. ~-~- Sony ~-~- Thanks to the entire Sony team for developing the Playstation family of game decks. You have given me and others hours and hours of entertainment. Keep up the good work. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ The Game Manual ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Some of the information in this FAQ came directly from the game manual, so I have to give it, and its creators, much credit for the information. It helped greatly. ~-~-~-~-~- Tom Clancy ~-~-~-~-~- Lastly, but definitely most importantly, I would like to thank Tom Clancy for having the talent and taking the time to write the books that the characters used in the games are based on. Also thanks for whatever time and input was given during the creation of these games. Without him none of this would be possible. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Anyone that contributed to this Walkthrough ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ If I used your tips, hints, suggestions etc., the name given to me is imbedded within the walkthrough along with your contribution.
