INTRODUCTION G0100 ============================================================================== Welcome to 'Winter Olympic Games: Lillehammer '94' for the GameGear and Master System, a Winter Olympics sports game released by Sega in 1994. Suggestions, comments or errors - email me about it. Enjoy! ============================================================================== 02.) OVERVIEW & CONTROLS G0200 ============================================================================== Basics: ``````` Each event has different controls, check in the section below on any particular help. Modes: `````` Full Olympics: All events are played through in order. You play for medals. Select your country and name, it can be changed. At the end of each even you see a medal table which is like the current leader table. At the end of the games, the person with the highest amount of gold wins the competition. In the event of more than one person having the same amount of gold, silver and then bronze medals are used as tie-breaker if applicable. The player has an advantage versus the CPU, as it only selects three different countries out of the 15 more available to win medal. The player in turn, takes part in all of them with the same one to win a medal. In total you can win 10 medals, on in each event. Mini Olympics: Similar to the full Olympics, but you select the number of events first, then play through them. It can by only one or it can be all of them just like the full Olympics. It's up to you. Training: Select the desired event to practice. Options: Choose between 3 difficulty levels as well as checking out some tunes and effects. ============================================================================== 03.) EVENTS G0300 ============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Downhill G0310 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ All the steering is done with the direction buttons, but keep in mind that it is from the perspective of the skier. To gain speed, press DOWN. Use the A button to 'tuck in' tighter, so you can be even faster. It makes turning even harder though. Your aim is also to go through the gates otherwise you end up being disqualified at the end of the race, not straight away so you may not notice it. Also keep on the good smooth snow, now the rough grey-looking stuff that makes you really really slow. Use the B button to jump, it also helps if you are stuck somewhere, but often you are hopelessly stuck in the wilderness. If you fall you are disqualified, it usually happens if you dash off into the tree line. Generally times to beat: 01:40:00 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Super G G0320 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ All the steering is done with the direction buttons, but keep in mind that it is from the perspective of the skier. Generally times to beat: 00:44:00 (per round) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Slalom G0340 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ All the steering is done with the direction buttons, but keep in mind that it is from the perspective of the skier. To gain speed, press DOWN. Use the A button to 'tuck in' tighter, so you can be even faster. It makes turning even harder though. Generally times to beat: 00:28:20 (per round) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bobsleigh G0350 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get the event going with the A and B buttons. Get a good speed to have a quick start as well. During the race, do not go up the corners. You have a map to spot when a bend is coming up, so move along with it, staying on the flat surface. If you don't, then you lose precious speed and waste time. In the Olympic modes there are two races which yield an overall time. Generally times to beat: 01:03:00 (per race) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Luge G0360 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Start the event by hitting the A and B buttons to gain speed. Once the guy lies down on the luge you can stop doing so. What's next is that you have to turn into the bends, but not too much. If you go up into the high parts you will lose lots of speed. Also try not to hit any sides. In the Olympic modes there are two races which yield an overall time. Generally times to beat: 00:58:00 (per race) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Moguls G0370 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ First gain speed by using the right and left directions to do turns. Do it in sync with the skier to get good speed as well as turn points. As you go down you need to do tricks. When you jump, use the directional keys to do some tricks. Make sure you keep in the air long enough or you will fall short and be disqualified. Gain some speed first before you start jumping in that case. Keep at least 5-6 hills in-between tricks. There are two rounds in the Olympic modes. The total score is made of these individual point allocations. Turn Points: How well you go down the hill. Air Points: The amount and difficulty of tricks you pulled off. Speed Points: Your total speed of the event. Generally score to beat: 22.00 (per round) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ski Jump G0380 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Start off with the A button. Then when you jump, look at the jumpers arm. If one of them twitches slightly, counter with that directional button. It should go back to your body. Only tap the button or you make the other side stick out. Keep it going to be straight and get more distance on the jump. Just before you are on the ground, press A to land and get more style points. You may not be able to land if you are currently flapping on ski to the side too much. The total score is made up of distance and points. Distance points are how far you manage to jump. The distance is dependent on your skill to keep the jumper still in the air. Some examples: 95.50m = 25.70pts 96.50m = 27.10pts 97.00m = 27.80pts 105.50m = 39.70pts Style is how good you look in the air, and don't flap your arms around like a bird. Ideal would be to be extremely still and straight. There are two rounds in Olympic mode which yield an overall score. Generally score to beat: 87.00 (per jump) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Biathlon G0390 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ First part is skiing. You see the small bar in the bottom left? That's your power bar. Use the LEFT and RIGHT directions to move the gauge around. You need to hold it until it passes the red marker in the center to get a good power walk going. Keep going left and right until you reach the targets. Time stops while you shoot, which wouldn't happen in the real event. Aim the scope with the directional keys, then shoot with the A button. You have five bullets for five targets, do the math. Each target you miss costs a one minute penalty, but I believe there is a seventeen minute max penalty. Continue doing so until you reach the finish line. There are 5 target areas in total. Generally time to beat: 01:40:00 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Short Track G03A0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As you start the race against the opponents, use the A and B buttons to rapidly go around the track. The directional pad is necessary to go around the bends and avoid the competition. The direction of the turns is always the point of view of the skater. There are four and a half laps to be completed, the first one wins regardless of what time. A good time would be around 52 to 53 seconds. Be aware that you are disqualified on the second false start. ============================================================================== YY.) REVIEW GYY00 ============================================================================== Gameplay: 3/10 Horrible controls, no fun at all. Graphics: 6/10 Not too bad I suppose, the game's best feature by a mile. Sound: 3/10 Overall: 3/10 Avoid. ============================================================================== ZZ.)
