The game is unlike any other I have seen. It is an RPG with a neat spin on it: It's in modern times. I use the standard names of the characters in this walkthrough. The game starts as a meteor crashes near your home. The game continues on and developes into a greater adventure. There are tons and tons of items in this game. And there are restrictions on the items you can carry. You can only carry what fits in your backpack. This game is very interesting. It's battle system is simultaneous. You choose your actions and the enemy chooses theirs. Each character's single action all occurs at once, with the characters with the highest speed going first. This walkthrough will cover all aspects of Earthbound. The majority of the walkthrough describes how to get through Earthbound in the walkthrough section below. However, the walkthrough also covers all the other information in Earthbound. This walkthrough is designed to cover Earthbound in a detailed, yet compact manner. -_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~ Section 2: Walkthrough -_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~ This section gives you a step by step process for getting from the very beginning of Earthbound to the end credits. This section is designed so that you can get brief information or an in-depth process. Each section begins with a list of objectives you must complete. Below the list of objectives are detailed descriptions on each objective you must complete to get through Earthbound. -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- A: Onett -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Objectives: 1. Walk downstairs and talk to your mom. She'll tell you to change out of your pajamas. Then you'll be back in your room again. Go downstairs and go outside. Follow the path in front of your house down and around the hill until the path disappears. Now just go up the hill. Go up until the police block your path with roadblocks. Talk to the guy who isn't a police officer that is walking around. His name is Pokey, he's your neighbor. He'll tell you to go home. Do so. Your mom is waiting outside your house for you. Just go to bed, for now. Objective #2: Help Pokey find Picky. Later that night, you awaken from your slumber. Somebody is pounding at the door. They've woken your family up. Go downstairs and answer the door. It's Pokey. He's lost his brother, Picky. He needs your help finding him. Offer to help him. Get King, the dog, in your group before leaving the house after changing out of your pajamas. Pick up the Cracked Bat in Tracy's room and equip it. As you try to leve, the phone rings. It's your dad, who you can call whenever you want to save your game. After the call, leave your house and go outside. Head up to where the meteorite landed. It's different from the time you went up before. Now there are enemies to fight on the way up. As you approach the meteorite, King leaves you. Go to the left and talk to Picky, who is behind a tree. Picky will join you. Now begin going back down the hill. As you pass the meteorite, a bee from the future will come out of the meteorite and tell you of Giygas, the destroyer of the world. After hi story, Buzz Buzz will join you. Go back down the hill now. At the bottom of the hill, you'll be confronted by Starman Junior. Objective #3: Defeat Starman Junior. Buzz Buzz will fight this battle for you mostly with his spells. He will cast a shield around you that will protect you from the Starman. Buzz Buzz will quickly win this battle for you. Objective #4: Take Pokey and Picky home. Now go to Pokey and Picky's house, just to the left of your house. Go to the left and talk to Picky and Pokey's dad. He will tell you some untruthful things, then his wife will swat and kill Buzz Buzz. Buzz Buzz will recite a final story to you as he dies. He tells you about the "Your Sanctuary" locations. You'll get the Sound Stone, then go outside and it will be day. Objective #5: Get a map at the library. Go south of your house along the path. The very first building you'll come to is the library. Go to the south side of the town and into the arcade by the pizza shop. Go to the member of the Shark Gang by the door and tell him you don't want to join the gang. Once you defeat him, you can go through the door and fight Frank in the backyard. You should gain a couple levels before you challenge Frank, as he is rather powerful. In fact, you should be on level 5 or 6 at least and have the best equipment that you can get from the Drug Store. By using your healing abilities and bashing Frank, he should be dead. Once Frank is defeated, you'll go up against Frankystein Mark II. This should be easier then Frank, as it rests every other round. Once you win, Frank will tell you some things about the Giant Step. Objective #7: Get the key from the mayor. Go north from the arcade and visit the mayor in City Hall. He will give you to the key to the shack that lies outside the Giant Step. Look out for small dots on the screen. They are actually enemies. Make your way to the left side of the cave. Go past the first cave that appears on top of the screen. Go to the far left, but not into the cave. Instead, go up the rope and start heading right. Go up the next rope you see. Go to the left and up to go out the cave. Go to the left and into the next cave now. Go through the door in this room and through the door in the next room. Go up the ropes and into battle with the Titanic Ant. Objective #9: Defeat the Titanic Ant. If you've got PSI Rockin, you'll definently want to be using it in this battle. Be sure to whack out the Ant's buddies. They will try to cure the Titanic Ant. As you use PSI Rockin, watch your PP. Don't use too many of them, as you'll need those to heal yourself. As long as you stay healed, (beware of the PP magnet attack) you'll be able to squash this ant. Objective #10: Record the melody of the Giant Step. Explore the town then go north to the Sea of Eden after picking up a Flying Man to aid you in battles if you wish. Go left then right. Follow the path to a strange object that resembles a twisting pole. Check it and you'll teleport to another area. In this sea are Krakens that you will encounter. Follow the path to an island where you will fight Ness's Nightmare. Objective #2: Defeat Ness's Nightmare. This boss uses the PSI Lifeup and PSI Rockin abilities. It's best to beat this boss with physical attacks and save your spells for healing you will be needing. After a fierce battle, Ness's Nightmare will be pushed out of Ness's mind. Objective #3: Recieve the power from the "Your Sanctuary" locations. After you destroy Ness's Nightmare, a voice will talk to you. The voice will instruct you to go to Saturn Valley. Afterwards, you will recieve the power of the "Your Sanctuary" locations. This will be similar to several level ups. After you recieve this strength, you will awaken. Objective #4: Find out about Zexonyte. Ness wakes up and you will teleport to Saturn Valley. Go up and you'll find Dr. Andonuts and Apple Kid. Talk to them and then go into the Phase Distorter. You will find out that you need a material called Zexonyte to make the machine work. And you can get some at the meteorite in Onett. Objective #5: Teleport to Onett. Then follow him and talk to him. Dr. Andonuts will transform each of you into robots. Now you can go back in time and fight Giygas. Objective #10: Get to the end of the path. Go down and to the left from the point you arrive at. Follow the path. It does not contain any forks whatsoever. Eventually, you will come to a cave. Follow the main path down to the end of the path. At the end of the path, Pokey meets you. You will go into battle with Giygas and Pokey. Objective #11: Defeat Giygas and Pokey. Begin the battle with a shield spell. Do not use spels that affect all enemies. Giygas will reflect any spells cast on him back on to you. So focus your attacks on Pokey. Pokey will eventually show you the true appearance of Giygas. Now, you can use all the attacks you want on Giygas. Use whatever attacks you desire, just leave some fighting strength left for Giygas's final form. Giygas's final form is easier then the previous two. Simply use Paula's "Pray" command. Each time you use it, you will see a cutscene of people praying for your safety. The Mr. Saturns will pray for you, then the Runaway Five will. Then the prayer will reach Paula's parents, then Jeff's friends, and it will reach Poo's friends on the fifth try. Continue praying. After each prayer, damage will be dealt to Giygas. Eventually, Paula will run out of people to reach out to. Keep praying, and the name you gave Tony when he called you in summers (yours) will pray for the safety of Ness. After defeating Giygas, Pokey will appear and say some last words to you, then leave. Now you have nothing left to do except view the credits. There is interaction incolced, but the game directly tells you what to do, so I won't explain it. -_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~ Section 3: The Photography Man -_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~ Throughout the game, there are Kodak moments when the photograph man will appear out of nowhere and take a picture of you. Equipment Tips: For Ness, the best weapon is the Gutsy Bat. It is available by defeating Krakens in Ness's dream world. The Casey Bat is the second best weapon, but it misses most of the time, so I wouldn't use it. Poo's best weapon, the Sword of Kings, can be gotten by defeating the Super Starmen in the cave beneath the Stonehedge. Level Building Tips: The best place I have found to build levels is near the Fire Spring in the Lost Underworld. Enter the area and go up the first two ropes and into the cave. In this cave either nothing, or two enemies appear. Keep entering from the right side of the cave so you get sneak attacks. Go outside to the hot springs if you need healing. Money Tips: Carry around as little money as you can at all times. You lose half the money you are carrying whenever you die, and there are ATMs wherever you buy things. -_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~ Section 6: Other Information -_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~-_-~ -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- A: Contact Information -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- My e-mail address is SeanKelson@aol.com.
