I had read about other games not being too hot, but was expecting KSPS to break through the barrier and be a great game. I was right. I can honestly say that Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer is the most fun game I have ever played. You can do the exact same thing for hours and never get bored. There is almost an infinite number of things you can do so the game will almost never get old. Coupled with superb graphics, tight controls, and roaring sounds, if KSPS was served at Taco Bell it'd be called "Le Package Total". Grab your board dude, surfs up! The waves are sick! //////////////////////////////////**\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ======================================================================= Version History ======================================================================= \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\**/////////////////////////////////// =- Version 0.3 -=: ****************** -Submitted: 9/23/02 -File Size: 18.7K -Details: It's getting there. With construction of the Sebastian Inlet jetty in the early 1960s, the featureless coast north of Melbourne Beach was provided a local point. Atlantic swells rebounding off the angled jetty created the inlet's First Peak, a consistent wedging right that over the years has been the epicenter of Florida surfing. Dick Catri, Gary Propper, Greg Loehr, Geoff Crawford, Gary Paul, Matt Kechele, Kelly Slater, Danny Melhado, Phillip Watters- generations of top Floridian surfers have called the inlet home, and still do. =- Trestles -=: *************** -Location: California -Wave Height: 5.8 ft.-9.4 ft. -Break Direction: Right Hand -Description: Officially known as San Mateo Point, the surf zone on the southern border of California's Orange County is on of the most popular-and influential-in the state. A series of Southern Pacific railway bridges give the spot its name, which includes a handful of high-quality, consistent breaks, including Cotton's Point, Upper Trestles, Lower Trestles, Middles, and Church. Lowers is the main event, and is home to a number of major surfing competitions. Not many surfers realize, however, that modern high-performance surfing was born here along the trestles when, in the late 1950s, two young surfers named Phil Edwards and Mickey Dora walked up the beach from nearby San Onofre and discovered the perfect waves for their brand new, fast- turning approach. =- Mavericks -=: **************** -Location: California -Wave Height: 15.7 ft.-25.0 ft. -Break Direction: Right Hand -Description: Waves so big and so powerful, their impact registered on seismographs at nearby U.C. Berkely. So why wasn't this big wave break in Northern California's Half Moon Bay discovered earlier? Perhaps it was the pervasive attitude that truly big waves lived only in Hawaii. Maybe it was the reluctance of the break's pioneer Jeff Clark, who surfed the massive peak alone for over ten years before leaking the secret. But from the moment Clark did, Mavericks has taken center stage in the blue water arena. Generated from storms in the North Pacific, sixty-foot plus moving mountains heave off the Half Moon Bay harbor more consistently than ever imagined. And a fearsome reputation that has only grown since Hawaiian ace Mark Foo was killed here in 1994. //////////////////////////////////**\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ======================================================================= Trick Book ======================================================================= \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\**/////////////////////////////////// =- Aerials -=: ************** Judo Air Left + B Heel Flip Left-Down + B Kick Flip Right-Down + B Shove It Right-Up + B Stalefish Grab Down + B Method Grab Right + B Lien Air Up + B Shove This Left-Up + B Indy Grab Left + X Melon Grab Left-Down + X Nose Grab Up + X Nuclear Grab Left-Up + X Mute Grab Right-Down + X Roastbeef Grab Right + X Rocket Grab Right-Up + X Tail Grab Down + X =- Special Aerials -=: ********************** Alley Oop Down, Down + B Rodeo Clown Up, Up + B Front Flip Down, Up + B Back Flip Up, Down + B Air Walk Left, Left + B Helicopter Right, Right + B Tweaker Air Right, Right + X Nacnac Left, Left + X Cross Air Up, Down + X Superman Down, Up + X Indian Right, Left + X Monkeyman Down, Down + X JC Air Left, Right + X =- Barrel Tricks -=: ******************** Tube Ride Down One Hand Roof Drag Up + Y Two Hand Drag Left-Down + Y One Hand Drag Left + Y Grab N Drag Right-Down + Y Two Hand Roof Drag Right-Up + Y Foot Drag Down + Y Christ Tube Left-Up + Y Layback Drag Right + Y Quick Cut Left L Quick Cut Right R =- Special Barrel Tricks -=: **************************** Tube Spit Up, Up + Y Coffin Down, Down + Y Caveman Down, Up + Y Lawndart Up, Down + Y =- Face Tricks -=: ****************** Carve Turn B Grab Turn X Snap Turn B, B(near top of wave) Revert Cutback Y, Y Rebound B, B Tail Chuck X, X Gouge B, Y Lay Back Slide Y, B Super Stall Down, Down Floater Release Y at top of wave Tailslide Y Power Slide Y + X =- Special Face Tricks -=: ************************** Shove It Ollie Up, Down + B Hang Ten Up, Up + Y Dark Slide Up, Down + Y =- Exit Moves -=: ***************** Initiate Exit Move Y + Y(in the air) Pressure Drop Right, Right + Y Fist Pump Left, Left + Y Back Flop Down, Down + Y Tuck & Roll Up, Up + Y Nose Dive Right + Y Cannonball Left + Y Flapper Down + Y Indy Bail Up + Y //////////////////////////////////**\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ======================================================================= Walkthrough ======================================================================= \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\**/////////////////////////////////// ======================================================================= Wave House ======================================================================= In the Wave House, Kelly will explain everything step-by-step, so no real walkthrough is needed here. Just listen to what he says. ======================================================================= Sebastian ======================================================================= =- Photo Shoot -=: ****************** -Required Goal: 2,000 points in 3 photos and score 10,000 points This one's easy. All you really need to do is get used to the camera. The screen will show a camera and you'll hear some beeps. The easiest way to get a good photo is to max out your special meter and do a few tricks. If the camera takes a picture when your special meters is maxed out and you have a few tricks linked together you'll get much more than the required 2,000 points. After you get the 2,000 points in photos, just keep on doing tricks until you get 10,000 points, if you haven't already. -Optional goal #1: Keep your special meter maxed out for 5 seconds. This one is really easy. Once you get your special meter maxed out, just do a few face tricks for 5 seconds and you're done. -Optional Goal #2: Beat the Grom by scoring 12,500 points When you're doing the required goal, you'll most likely automatically fulfill this goal too. Just keep tricking and you'll have 12,500 in no time. -Optional Goal #3: Beat the Local by scoring 25,000 points When you're new to the game this might be a little tough. Try linking your special tricks together as much as you can to get some big multipliers. When you're used to the game this is a piece of cake. -Optional Goal #4: Jump over the pier This is by far the hardest goal at Sebastian. Keep surfing until you see the ! indicator on the screen. When you do hold Z to view the pier. You'll want the breaking part of the wave to get as close to the pier as possible before you try to jump it. That way you can get the most air. This one may take a few tries to get. You may want to come back to this one after you've gotten a few boards and stat upgrades so your air and speed ratings are higher. =- Diving Blocks -=: ******************** -Required Goal: Collect 10 icons and score a total of 20,000 points for the Round Collecting icons is no more than simply performing a listed trick. There are icons colored green, purple, red, and yellow. Green ones are for aerials, purple is for face tricks, red is for tube tricks, and yellow is for special tricks. In Sebastian under the icon is a button sequence showing how to do the required trick. Do the trick to get the icon. If your special meter is maxed out you can link up to 5 icons together to get a maximum of 10,000 bonus points. Getting 10 is a piece of cake, so just get used to the setup of icon challenges and you'll have it in no time. -Optional Goal #1: Keep your special meter maxed out for 10 seconds A little tougher than 5 seconds at the start of the game, 10 seconds will require a little more skill, but not much. After getting your special meter up do one special aerial trick then do a series of face moves for the remainder of the time. You can also just hang out in the tube for 10 seconds. -Optional Goal #2: Beat the Grom by scoring 25,000 points It's the same thing as beating the local in the other part of Sebastian so you shouldn't have too much trouble. Keep those special aerials going. -Optional Goal #3: Beat the Local by scoring 50,000 points At first 50,000 points may seem like a lot but it's not really at all. Link a few special aerials together for the most points. Also add in some face tricks for quick multipliers. -Optional Goal #4: Spray 3 fat tuber guys Ha! When you see the ! icon hold Z. When you get close to the tubers hold B and carve. You'll spray up some water and hit the tuber. Do this 3 times to complete the goal. ======================================================================= Trestles ======================================================================= =- Air Assault -=: ****************** -Required Goal: Get a total of 5,000 points from Air Tricks and a total of 10,000 points for the Round Another easy goal to fulfill. Get your special meter up and do one special aerial and you'll get the 5,000 points for air tricks. Just keep tricking to get to 10,000. -Optional Goal #1: Keep your special meter maxed out for 5 seconds You've most likely already done this in Sebastian so just get your special meter maxed out and do a few face tricks. -Optional Goal #2: Beat the Grom by scoring 12,500 points You did this in Sebatian too. Keep your special meter up and do two aerial specials to easily get 12,500 points. -Optional Goal #3: Beat the Local by scoring 25,000 points Same thing with Sebastian again. A few special aerials are all you need. Optional Goal #4: Spray 3 windsurfers When you see the ! indicator pop up on the screen hold Z to focus the camera on the windsurfer. Surf toward it and right before you run into it, hold B and carve to the left or right to spray it with water. Do this 3 times to complete the goal.
