Well it's Sunday evening here in the UK and I am sitting here looking at
my Element desktop client wondering what more I can add to our Matrix
server, it seems to have everything we had in Discord, with exception of
a bot that rewards chatters with XP and grants them a new level every
now and then.  This is something I intend on looking into as a potential
self created bot if I cannot find anything similar already made.

There are a number of channels that I have set up, some with automaton
information like the #subspace channel which displays log ins and out of
users to BBSes, currently 2oforbeers and thE qUAntUm wOrmhOlE have access
to post such information, but this will grow soon.

There's #radio which is a channel just for listening to qUAntUm RaDio in
along with #general for general chatter, and also has a widget for the
radio as well as the live MRC status and countdown to the next scheduled
meetup.

With the help of Johnny5 #mrc-lobby is a direct bridge to the MRC #lobby
channel, something that we had on Discord and I have made possible in the
Matrix also. This is a very useful bridge, allowing sysops that are active
users of the matrix server for TQW to access MRC when away from a computer.

Then there's the channel #system which will carry any connectivity errors for
the MRC bot Johnny5. If Johnny5 ever loses connectivity with the MRC server, it
will send out a beacon in this channel to alert people that it's down and I can
then go and investigate and see if it's something I need to fix.

All rooms on the Matrix server save for #mrc-lobby are able to be accessed
via federation, only #mrc-lobby is restricted to local users only of the
TQW homeserver. This is to prevent any outside abuse that we can't control.


Lots of people are already joined up to use the Matrix server, and it's open
for anyone to connect to and use, or federate with, I invite anyone wishing to
use it to come along. It's not to be used instead of BBSing, more to be used
in conjuntion with.


If you haven't yes joined us in our Matrix server, just visit
https://riot.erb.pw and create a free account. If you are an existing matrix
user of another homeserver, say matrix.org's, then just add matrix.erb.pw
to your Matrix rooms dropdown in your client to access our room directory
and join our rooms.
