Austrian Constitutional Court Requests Real Covid Data

Austria’s Constitutional Court issued (https://bit.ly/3IURFrk)
0 sets of questions to the Health Ministry on 26 January in order
to prepare for a “possible oral hearing” into a number of complaints
it has received against Austria’s Covid-19 measures. The main
focus of the questions being on the burden on the health system,
to which the measures were linked.  The Health Ministry has until
18 February to respond.
In order to justify his Government’s heavy-handed rules, the court
has asked Health Minister Wolfgang Muckstein to provide data across
a broad range of topics including hospitalisations and deaths “with”
as opposed to “from” Covid-19, the efficacy of masks and vaccines,
and evidence supporting the “lockdown for the unvaccinated,” the
Australian Daily Telegraph wrote.
On 15 November 2021, Austria threw around two million unvaccinated
people into lockdown. The move prohibited the “unvaccinated” or
vaccine-free older than age 12 from leaving their homes except for
basic activities such as working, grocery shopping, going for a walk
- or getting “vaccinated.”
“Authorities are concerned that hospital staff will no longer be able
to handle the growing influx of Covid-19 patients,” the Evening
Standard noted as the justification when the discriminatory
restrictions were announced.
“The ‘lockdown for the unvaccinated’ is likely to be based, among
other things, on the consideration that persons without Covid
vaccination have a higher risk of hospitalisation than vaccinated
persons, which is likely to entail a higher risk for the healthcare
system,” the Austrian Constitutional Court wrote in their request
for information on 26 January 2022.
“What is the effect of the ‘lockdown for the unvaccinated’ on the
hospital burden, expressed in percentages?” the court asked.
Two days after the request for information letter was sent, Austria
lifted the ‘lockdown of the unvaccinated’.
