US soldiers secure the area around an Abrams tank which caught fire
after a US convoy was targeted by a roadside bomb in the center of
BaghdadInsurgent attacks in Iraq Sunday have killed at least one
person and wounded several others.

Authorities in the northern city of Kirkuk say a car bomb attack
caused at least one death and several injuries. In central Baghdad, a
car bomb detonated as an army patrol passed, wounding several
soldiers.

Witnesses say a U.S. tank was damaged by a roadside bomb. There was no
immediate word of casualties. And at least one person was wounded when
a mortar round slammed into Baghdad's fortified "Green Zone."

Separately, militants in Iraq holding a Jordanian hostage demanded
that Jordan break diplomatic ties with Iraq and release a would-be
suicide bomber.
