Russia Denies Sharing US Invasion Plans With Iraq ------------------------------------------------- http://enews.voanews.com/t?ctl=1181C89:3919ACA Unclassified Pentagon report says battlefield intelligence was provided to Saddam Hussein through Russian ambassador in Baghdad Russia has denied a U.S. Defense Department report that says Moscow provided information on U.S. troop movements and plans to Iraqi officials during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Russian Foreign Intelligence Service officials described the report Saturday as baseless. An unclassified Pentagon report released Friday cites two captured Iraqi documents that say the Russians collected information from sources "inside the American Central Command" in Doha, Qatar. The report says battlefield intelligence was provided to then-Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein through the Russian ambassador in Baghdad. Pentagon officials say some of the intelligence was false and contributed to Iraq's failures in the early weeks of the war. The report did not say whether the false information was deliberately leaked. The report concludes that even after U.S.-led coalition forces had begun their invasion, Iraqi leaders believed they would remain in power. The U.S. military report was an attempt to recreate how the Iraqi government viewed the approach of war. Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters. .
