The Afghan Defense Ministry Sunday said troops seized a cache of weapons during the operation in Uruzgan province Saturday. The ministry did not provide an exact number of militants killed in the clash, but security officials said more than 40 insurgents died, including a commander. Elsewhere, the U.S.-led military coalition in Afghanistan said a roadside bomb killed two coalition soldiers in the southern province of Kandahar. The coalition said Saturday that the soldiers were conducting a security patrol with Afghan forces when their vehicle struck a mine planted on a busy road.
