Brazil's Fourth Health Minister since Pandemic Expected to be Formally
Appointed Wednesday

   Brazil's fourthhealthministerin a yearis promising a continuation of
   theanti-COVIDrestrictionpolicies ofPresident Jair Bolsonaro,ahead of
   hisformal appointmenton Wednesday.

   CardiologistMarceloQueirogaassumes his post, a day after Brazil loggeda
   recordone-day total of2,841COVID-19deaths.

   Following the spike in deaths, Queiroga urged people to continuewearing
   masksand washingtheir hands but did not propose restrictions such as
   lockdowns, which are not favored by Bolsonaro, who hasdownplayedthe
   virus even after he became infected.

   Queirogahas reportedly been working withoutgoing Health Minister
   EduardoPazuello, who also backed Bolsonaro,but itis unclear when he
   will take overas the fourth health minister since the pandemic began
   one year ago.

   Brazil has one of the highestCOVID-19 infections rates in Latin
   America, withmore than11,519,000 infections and 279,286 deaths,
