Weather Situation
A high northwest of New Zealand extends a weak ridge along the east coast. A
tropical low (07U) will drift inland over the southwestern Gulf of Carpentaria
and linger for the next few days, enhancing rainfall across far northwestern
Queensland and assisting the monsoon trough to form near the base of the Top
End towards the middle of next week. Another trough will enter the southwest of
the state late on Sunday and move slowly move east during the early days of
next week, drawing deep tropical moisture southward across most of the state.

Forecast for the rest of Sunday 21 December
Partly cloudy. High chance of rain in the west, medium chance elsewhere. The
chance of a thunderstorm. Heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding possible
in the west. Winds north to northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h becoming light in the
evening. Daytime maximum temperatures 29 to 35.
