Weather Situation A high northwest of New Zealand extends a weak ridge along the east coast. A tropical low (07U) will drift inland over the southwestern Gulf of Carpentaria and linger for the next few days, enhancing rainfall across far northwestern Queensland and assisting the monsoon trough to form near the base of the Top End towards the middle of next week. Another trough will enter the southwest of the state late on Sunday and move slowly move east during the early days of next week, drawing deep tropical moisture southward across most of the state.
