Weather Situation A monsoon trough extends over the northwest, connecting to a trough over the southeast, with a weak ridge elsewhere. The southeast trough will strengthen on Thursday and move north along the east coast for the following few days, reaching north Queensland on Sunday or Monday. The monsoon trough in the northwest may extend east late this week. A ridge will extend over southern Queensland from Friday as a high approaches and crosses Tasmania. The high will move into the southern Tasman Sea on Sunday. A weak tropical low (09U) may develop in the Coral Sea on Sunday, most likely moving away from the coast from Monday.
