Cocos (Keeling) Islands Forecast

Issued at 4:30 pm WST on Saturday 20 December 2025

Weather Situation:
Tropical Low (03U) currently lies to the south of Christmas Island. This system
is forecast to slowly approach the islands from the west, with a high chance of
developing into a tropical cyclone early next week. The approach and likely
development of this tropical system will bring about worsening conditions early
next week, resulting in rain, storms and windy weather for the islands.

Forecast for the rest of Saturday 20 December
Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a shower.
Winds: SE about 10 knots.
Seas: Below 1 metre.
Swell: S/SE about 2 metres.

Forecast for Sunday 21 December
Partly cloudy. Medium chance of showers.
Winds: SE about 10 knots.
Seas: Below 1 metre.
Swell: S/SE about 2 metres.

Cloudy. Rain developing. The chance of a thunderstorm.
Winds: S 10 to 15 knots, increasing to 15 to 20 knots later in the day.

Winds: S/SW 15 to 25 knots.
