WHAT WOULD IT TAKE? (Posted 2005-09-07 23:45:26 by Ray Lopez) On Tim Burke's excellent blog, "Easily Distracted", he makes the point [ http://weblogs.swarthmore.edu/burke/?p=92 ] that conservatives should at least have some motivation to follow through on their beliefs by holding Bush accountable for what has transpired in New Orleans and elsewhere near the gulf coast. I see this as a lost cause. As Adam Gruen has said, the only reason these people are in power is to maintain their power. They really do not care one whit about what is happening in the world around them, which is why it is so easy for them to lie about things in the face of overwhelming evidence that contradicts their lies. What would it take for the red state populace, that loyal 40% or so, that backs Bush no matter what, what would it take for these people to abandon support for the Prez? I can only think of one thing, and that would be for George Bush to quit supporting his own class, to abandon them in favor of the lower classes, the poor, racial minorities, etc. That's the only thing that would cause him to lose the support of his base, which basically means he and the rest of his cronies can do whatever they want, so long as they take care of their upper class constituency. -------- There are no comments on this post.
