The event is being organized by the Good Gun Foundation, U.S. Bureau of Land Management and Arizona Game and Fish Department. Table Mesa Road is a popular area for outdoor recreation, including target shooting, OHV use, hunting and hiking. The increasing popularity of this area has led to an increase in illegal activity--unsafe shooting, littering, cross-country OHV travel, illegal dumping--by a few individuals. The cleanup is an opportunity to show that the vast majority of recreational shooters, hunters, OHV riders and other outdoor enthusiasts are responsible people who care deeply about our public lands and want to ensure continued multiuse recreational enjoyment of this area. Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. at the west turnoff for Table Mesa Road off I-17 (exit 236). The cleanup is from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Lunch for volunteers will be provided by the Good Gun Foundation at 12:30 p.m. Participants will also receive a free T-shirt from the Good Gun Foundation. Preregistration is requested. Contact the Good Gun Foundation at (800) 367-4867 and ask for Monica, or register online by visiting the Good Gun Foundation's Web site at goodgun.org . -- Stephen P.
